Human Resources is very interesting!
Executive Administrative Assistant (Former Employee), Irving, TXJanuary 15, 2015
In a typical day lots of multi-tasking, learned payroll and HR generalist role as well as back up to Terminal Manager's assistant. Co-workers were always eager to assist or provide resources for guidance. Management was always easy to approach. The hardest part of the job was learning many guidelines and most enjoyable part was learning so much!

Excellent and enjoyable time building long term relationships with the customers and their families
Outside Sales - Account Executive (Former Employee), Phoenix, AZDecember 22, 2014
Pros: enjoying creating long term relationships with the customers and their families
Cons: none really.
One of the best times of my life. I love outside sales and being an account executive with Roadway and YRC proved to be an excellent work environment with great camaraderie. Enjoying entertaining and building long term relationships with the clients and their families was one of my favorite parts of the position.

Pros: wages
Cons: on call and winter weather
Load and unload trucks. Weights per foot of trailor. Management was very aggressive. Co workers helpful. The hardest part of the job was being on call. The best part of the day was the money.

A great and secure place to work with great benefits
Logistics & Transport Clerk (Former Employee), Memphis, TNOctober 20, 2014
Pros: great medical and dental insurance plans, great pay and union employment is guaranteed 40 hrs a week.
Cons: mgmt and non-mgmt attitudes, low moral, dock work is outdoors in the elements.
This company is a great place to work, has great benefits, and pays extremely well to those that get hired as "Regular" employees. There is a very deep "Us against Them" mentality between management and non-management employees, as some terminals are union terminals. Management is above any and every one else, and has been known to pick and choose whom they like and dislike. If you are disliked, or not a favorite employee, your tenure will be very short, or your work life will become very miserable, while you are there. Everyone is expendable. If you are lucky enough to become a secure, union employee, it is still best to lay low and try to stay on Management's good side, as the Union has been known to underhandedly trade out their union member's jobs for favors that the company does for them. Some coworkers were great to work with, while the company used others as pawns to play against each other, making work life difficult at best. If you plan to make a career with this company, best advice would be to not get too heavily involved with what others are doing, and to stay private, do your job and leave.

Very productive and fun place to work. Challenging and rewarding.
Dock Records Clerk (Former Employee), Strafford, MOSeptember 2, 2014
Pros: three and a half days off, pay and benefits.
Cons: twelve hour shifts, nights and weekends.
This was one of the hardest jobs I have ever had. The most challenging fast paced work environment I have ever been subjected to. This job was also the most rewarding in terms of benefits and pay. A typical day at work was a non-stop twelve hour shift of counting, ten keying, phones, billing, printing, communicating and last but not least very exhausting. What I learned as a Dock Records Clerk or DRC was this, I could be pushed for hours and come away with a feeling of teamwork and accomplishment. Being the minority at a freight industry was very interesting at times. It taught me to be strong, efficient, and to stand up for myself in a productive way. The hardest part of the job was the nights and weekends. The most enjoyable about YRC was all of the many friends I made and still have to this day. A great team environment and overall a great place to work.
