I would begin by checking on expedited shipments and if anything special was going on that day. Every day was different and you would learn some new computer trick or short cut. I was not impressed with our management. They seemed to do things that didnt make any sense.I had worked in the industry for over 30 years and the things the top management – more...  of the company was doing didnt always seem to be in our best interest. My co-workers were capable and worked together well.The hardest part of the job was watching the company decline after so many years of service and no matter how hard you tried things got worse.The best part of the job was going home knowing you did your best and hopefully made a difference. – less

Did various jobs and several different locations for Company. And that kept the job challenging and rewarding during my 7 year stay.

Biggest challenge always dealing with a Unionized work force. Learned to build relationships and trust with key Union Employees and learned never to lie.

Very difficult place to work. Employees VS management always butting heads. Very difficult to do your job at YR, and go home feeling at ease.

Enjoyed my position at Yellow Roadway. Advanced quickly as I had a desire to do so. I really enjoyed dealing with customers and drivers

Was a great job,diverse with so much gear shifting.You would be selling a 16,000.00 pc of machinery one moment,and setting up a auction the next.Least favorite part of the job was limited space for freight and condition I would get it in

Making sure Packages Left and arrived at their destinations in a timely manner was rewarding!

Could be a great company if the economy returns. Current leadership has a blueprint for success, and all that needs to be done is the proper implementation. Sadly, the opportunities for advancement and any pay improvement or incentive is permanently on hold until the company can prove itself viable.

Loved working at ROADWAY, however when Yellow frt took over, things went down hill. One by one Roadway people were eliminated

a typical day at work is production, shipping and receiving. I learned safety skills, group teamwork, hazardous material skills, customer service and forklift operation. Management was consistent. Pretty good company. good people. Nice managers/supervisors. good pay

A typical day would involve face to face calls on customers in my assigned territory to idenitfy their current transportation needs with our products and services. In addition, we would do "cold calling" to identify customers that are using other carriers and explain how our services was superior to the competition.

After identifying customers needs – more...  and requirement, I would serve as the liasson between my customer and our operations team. Example would be: Customer's Shipping/Receiving Hours, Freight loading requirements, etc.

By starting in the clerical ranks I was able to learn the operation from the ground up, therefore the extensive training helped me with operations knowledge when I was promoted to Sales Representatice.

I met so many nice people in my 13 years there, I had both of my children while there so everyone was more like family than co workers.

The Hardest part of the job was the evening and weekend entertainments that took away from family time.

I went to work at Roadway Express. It was an excellent business and well managed. Deregulation was it's downfall

Use pallet jacks to unload semis and restock semis for transport! Check manifests for correct identifacations of packaged products and log for transport.

AVERAGE TRUCJING COMPANY, MANAGMENT DOSENT CARE BOUT EMP, EVERYONE INCLUDING DRIVERS ONLY CARE BOUT THEMSELES, NO CHANCE OF MOBILITY, UNLESS YOU BEFREIND UPPER MGMT. CUSTOMERS ARE OFTEN TREATED BADLY. NOT SURE HOW MUCH LONGER THE WILL SURVIVE AGAINST PREMIEM COMPETITION

The overall job isnt bad, howeveve, mgmt, and co-workers, leave much to be desired, no stability in mgmt, no loyality. Health benefits are 2nd to none, wages. ... lack behind industry standards, mangament appears to have little concept of logistics.

Very good place to work, good balance of hometime and work, money was good and the health and welfare were very good

I enjoyed working for this company for 13 years. I loved the everyday challenges and learning.

The more you work, the less you will be noticed. And others will quickly take credit for your work behind your back. Management can't be trusted, nor do they care about the business. So many times I was told that customers will get over it. The company is more focused on how to get over on the union then the business, the customer, the employees.

You must be a strong-minded person. The drivers will test your managerial abilities if you let them.
