Reporting to the Director of Operations, this Applications Engineer will be responsible for supporting the commercial team as needed in order to address customer support requirements throughout the inquiry-to-order process. As the primary liaison between the operations and commercial teams, this Applications Engineer will acquire and maintain a large breadth of technical knowledge while demonstrating business acumen and leadership skills in a customer-facing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to VOC and benchmarking studies to identify opportunities to create competitive advantages
Interface with current/potential commercial partners and customers, including industry trade shows and events
Provide technical service support to customers as needed with respect to project/system design inquiries
Coordinate RFP support efforts on behalf of the engineering team
Support product development efforts through commercial and technical due diligence exercises
Deliver training to customers on various aspects of product quality and performance
Support the Fleet Manager to interface with customers on product claims as needed
Communicate information to customers as needed, including, but not limited to engineering changes, technical bulletins, and letters of compliance
Utilize lean six sigma methodology to improve sales metrics and customer satisfaction
Support management team in ad hoc tasks and initiatives
Requirements:
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Minimum of two (2) years in the PV industry, preferably with module or system engineering/installation,
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; preference towards focus on applied photovoltaics
Must be able and willing to travel up to 30%, including international travel to China as needed
Superior written and verbal communication skills, and a strong proficiency of Microsoft Office tools
Ability to interpret product/part drawings using AutoCAD, Solidworks and/or other design software is preferred
Previous experience with modeling and statistical software, PVSYST, SAM, PVDesignPro is preferred
Working knowledge of industry standards/codes is preferred
Mandarin and/or Spanish speaking ability is preferred
