About Yukon Flats School District
The Yukon Flats School District serves eight communities in an area that covers over 59,000 square miles. The area includes the White Mountains, the Crazy Mountains, the foothills of the Brooks Range as well as the Flats, the Valley of the Upper Yukon River.
The population of the area is primarily Gwich'in and Koyukon Athabascan Indians. The area – more... presents a variety of recreational activities during the entire year. The weather, typical of interior Alaska, has temperatures ranging from one hundred degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to seventy degrees below zero in the winter.
