Disappointed was there three weeks and never missed a day or late and was laid off out of nowhere without warning while guys who missed days and late a lot or still there. It makes me wonder is it because of my color or because he knew the other

Pros: learned to read pipe blueprints and a little tig welding
Cons: bad work conditions lots of favoritism
This place was horrible i worked as a pipe fitter helper for over 6months... there is no room to grow or get raises.. i was told to get all the proper tools and show i could perform certain task in which i did and thin was told after we move to the new units i would get my raise and be bumped up to helper two... needles to say (it didt happen) the foreman and general forman were all related and majority of the fitters all had been working together for years. so dont look to advance in a work place like this if you are not part of the crew.... The pipe super and project manager were old pals so if there where problems in your crew with certain people you where pretty much screwed so as the old saying goes its not what you know its who you know

Conduct a safety meeting in the morning, then have tool box meetings with diffrent crafts. Walk the units an overlook the saftey of the workers. Making sure all rules and procedures are being followed. Ilearned alot of diffrent rules and safety codes that can help you out in everyday life outside of work. The hardest part of the job is telling someone they will no longer be working because they did not follow the safety rules an put themselfs and others in danger. The most enjoyable part of the job is getting to learn diffrent parts of how the chemical plants runs and works and getting to kmow that your keeping all your coworkers safe.
