Fun and engergetic environment
Warehouse Picker (Former Employee) – Shepherdsville, KY – August 18, 2014
Each day I would clock in, get my hand-held computer, and meet at the department's desk. We would have a meeting and then go to our designated area. I would grab a cart, pick the shoes, and put them on the conveyor. When work would get slow in our area, I would get transferred to an area with more shoes to pick. I made sure to pick shoes at our rate of 100 an hour to make my daily goal. The only hard part was when we were slow on sales there were less shoes in the area to pick so it took longer, which made us work at a faster pace. At the end of the shift I would clock out and go home.
I learned how to work at a very fast pace in a demanding time frame. I had not worked in a warehouse environment, so this job gave me the understanding of how things worked. Although it was different, it was still enjoyable. I liked how the warehouse ran and all the workers I had to work with. I sometimes dealt with different departments working in my area. I was also transferred to help different departments that were short on workers. Management really knew how to keep the warehouse running efficiently.
Long walks in and out of the building
