The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall maintenance of the Hansen Medical plant including Environmental Health & Safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee day to day management of facility maintenance, safety, and cleanliness in compliance with FDA regulations for medical device manufacturing facilities; includes management of janitorial and security services
  • Receive and fulfill facilities work orders, including assignment of tasks to appropriate internal or external resources as needed.
  • Conduct daily walk throughs to assess facility, grounds, and equipment conditions
  • Perform general repairs in the areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment repairs
  • Coordinate and implement changes to building space and facilities expansion including cubical rearrangements, furniture and meeting set-ups and events.
  • Act as a liaison with vendors and contractors. Coordinate the services of outside vendors
  • Respond to emergencies as required during off-hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Support health and safety programs and environmental compliance programs


  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years building maintenance experience
  • Experience with regulated industries such as diagnostic, medical device, pharmaceutical or food production required
  • Knowledge of production equipment, controlled environments and critical systems
  • Knowledge of facilities operations, physical plant, safety and security, and fire protection systems
  • Knowledge of California and local regulations regarding permitting and construction
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local Environmental Safety and Health regulations including hazardous materials and waste permitting and handling, Safety (OSHA) regulations and local health department regulations
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly
  • Ability to understand equipment blueprints, building drawings, and schematics
  • Ability to use shop equipment and hand tools
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations
  • Experience with the handling of hazardous material
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and cleanroom environment preferred
  • Initiative to execute projects without supervision and to recognize potential facility improvement opportunities
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize daily tasks
  • Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, and Excel
