The Network Administrator works out of our Campbell, CA office as part of the Information Technology team. This position will be responsible for managing LAN hardware infrastructure, managing security access list for local switching, ensuring timely backups of router/switch configurations and monitoring performance data to ensure network integrity. They will also be responsible for ensuring timely resolution of all service outages, monitoring network health to ensure reliability, identifying abuse and virus like activity, managing VPNs for WAN backup and monitoring and maintaining external access for authorized personnel.

The candidate must be a self-starting, motivated virtualization expert with the ability to work independently as well as in a small group to solve complex problems related to the migration of existing applications into a virtual environment.

Job Duties:

  • Performs system upgrades
  • Evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems
  • Performs system backups and recovery
  • Support telecommunication systems
  • Creates and maintains documentation and procedures
  • Perform system admin activities to include administrative functions such as new user setup, active directory changes, email changes, files shares etc
  • Maintain anti-virus software and other security software
  • Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
  • Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems as directed
  • Coordinates and installs hardware and software
  • Monitors systems and servers and triages alerts
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Supports resolution of all types of Incidents both locally and using remote tools
  • Assists with asset management and inventory of IT assets
  • Support helpdesk in troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or related; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four or more years of experience in network and server infrastructure
  • Two to Four (or more) years of experience in one or more of the following:

oEnterprise level Vmware/VSphere, ESX/ESXi and VCenter
oCisco switches in a LAN/WAN environment
oNginx/Apache, MySQL, MS-SQL, Cisco IOS

  • Experience actively maintaining and supporting Windows 2003/2008 Active Directory
  • Experience with DNS/WINS/LDAP, SAN/NAS systems, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and higher, and Microsoft SQL 2005 and higher
  • A desire to work in technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, exceptionally detail oriented, focused, punctual, responsible and reliable
  • An authentic “can do!” personality, as well as a natural tendency to be proactive and take initiative
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment where flexibility, prioritizing and multitasking are required to attack each day’s challenges
