mSpot is a new Samsung Company in Palo Alto, working on the "next big thing" in consumer cloud music services for all of Samsung's devices (Smartphones, Tablets, TVs) globally.

The company is currently seeking a very technically astute DevOps Engineering Leader & hands-on Manager/Director to start a new DevOps team and function reporting to the VP of Engineering & Ops.

This role is mission critical to mSpot’s cloud ops and music services. The company and music service is growing in leaps and bounds, and offers career growth and a challenging and rewarding work environment. mSpot is a small, wholly owned subsidiary in cool new digs with the original founders/entrepreneurs and fosters a fast paced, nimble and results oriented culture while enjoying the financial resources, branding and market reach of Samsung, a market leader in consumer devices and media applications.

Since you will be the first member of this new team, this will involve lots of new hands-on “heavy lifting” work in Python and using Chef & Puppet to write scripts, tools, utilities, etc. to automate production ops and first/second level production support resolution issues, plus solve complex new 3rd tier system support issues currently being handled by server developers. In addition, you will provide technical strategy and thought leadership while building and leading a small, world-class team of DevOps and Systems Engineers.

Role requires a BS Degree in CS, EE or other relevant engineering science, and 10+ years in internet production operations with recent experience in public cloud production environments (EC2) for high-volume consumer web sites/services that distribute digital content such as online games, music, movies, eCommerce or Social applications. Current technology environment and required expertise includes EC2, LAMP, Puppet, Chef and Python. Proven technical, team and people leadership and management experience is required that includes hiring, mentoring, motivating and resolving technical, project and organizational issues. Prior software development/programming background a plus.
