mendoberri cafe and wine bar (www.mendoberri.com) seeks a qualified, positive and energetic Chef de Cuisine/Sous Chef.

Job Summary
Responsible for leading and overseeing kitchen operations and kitchen team members with direction from the Executive Chef/Owner. Ensure the overall success of kitchen operations by implementing and leading others in expedient and high-quality, healthy food preparation, health and safety standards, organizational skills, team leadership capabilities and a focus on friendly customer service.

Responsibilities
• Supports daily preparation and execution of lunch and/or dinner menu items
• Supports and contributes to the development and implementation of seasonal menu planning as well as daily menu specials
• Completes Food Sanitation Certification or renewal and obtains proper identification and documentation for location
• Maintains all cleaning standards and maintenance of equipment
• Implements and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for equipment, including proper handling of equipment
• Maintains all food, shop, and plate presentation standards
• Assures that all health department regulations are met
• Supports the training of all staff members
• Coaches and develops team members through daily/on the job coaching and training
• Performs other duties as needed
• Supports the Executive Chef/Owner in the overall achievement of restaurant objectives and goals

Job Requirements/Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in a restaurant or catering operation
• Must have demonstrated/excellent culinary skills including, but not limited to menu planning, cost control/food cost, knife skills, food prep, food cost/containment, adherence to health and safety standards, food presentation, quality and taste
• Must be proficient English (both oral and written)
• Should be proficient in basic computer skills
• Should have knowledge of and have commitment to organic food, a healthy lifestyle and food choices
• Must have a positive attitude and be friendly and upbeat
• Must demonstrate reliability (be on time), responsibility and flexibility
• Occasional overtime and work hours adjustments may be required, although infrequent
• Must be prompt and able to meet deadlines
