The Operations Engineer (OE) will contribute to achieving site objectives by participating in, coordinating, and leading maintenance, technology/capital improvements, health, safety, ecology, manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics.
The OE may be called upon to assist the four other Systems Plants in the United States as well as collaborate with global associates in the Polyurethanes Business.
The Polyurethane Systems Plant operates 16 hours per day, 5 days per week manufacturing and shipping batch polyurethane systems specializing in recreational products, insulation, refrigeration and other industrial uses.
The environment is fast paced and requires the ability to multi-task.
The Urethane Systems Business is very dynamic, growing year over year, and regularly meets profitability goals.
This position may be transferred to another location after 2-3 years.
Principle responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Production Supervisor - Manage production operators efficiently to meet customer demands. Coordinate shift schedules, overtime, vacation coverage, etc. for the production department.
Direct daily shift change (huddle) meetings which includes safety message, evaluating current production status vs. production schedule, identifying maintenance issues, manage other production related tasks, etc.
Provide positive feedback for good performance as well as hold employees accountable for poor performance.
Maintain production cost center at or below budget.
Develop process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids as required to properly document, teach, and manage site operations.
Actively participate on site teams, championing the 5 pillars of safety, quality, productivity, people, and customers.
Propose, track, audit, communicate and take action to improve performance for relevant KPI's.
Be on call during off shift hours and weekends as necessary.
-Maintenance Coordinator - Coordinate all maintenance activities for the site.
Responsible for two contract mechanical maintenance personnel, one contract E/I technician, and one maintenance planner.
Creates preventative maintenance schedule and prioritizes work orders and PMs for maintenance personnel's daily activities.
Responsible for all outside vendors performing maintenance to plant scales, forklifts, dock equipment, insulation, etc.
Responsible for maintaining maintenance costs at or below -$250K budget.
Responsibilities for site purchasing, and receiving.
-Project Engineer - Assists in the development of the project capital planning and budgeting process.
Performs project related duties including scope design, POM development, cost estimation, contractor coordination, implementation, and start-up for small capital projects (< $1M).
BSChE, BSME, or relevant discipline. 3-5 years Operations experience and/or Plant Engineering / Maintenance support.
Strong leadership qualities with strong interpersonal skills.
Must show strong initiative and be able to work in a team-based environment.
Excellent communication and computer skills (Excel, SAP, etc.).
Must have a strong working knowledge of Ecology/Health/Safety procedures and standards including:
Process Safety Management regulations, OSHA standards, EPA regulations, National Fire Code regulations, and Corporate Engineering standards.
Must possess a strong technical/problem solving aptitude.
Able to solve complex problems by identifying and enrolling appropriate resources.
