I was a CM

My MGR Comes to me Fri. 01/09/09 at like 11:30 somethimg, just in time to make my final paycheck from 84 6hrs short overtime, says I'm laid off. I was speechless. 6 mos. short of 5 yrs. go ahead and collect unemployment he says. This is reaaly happenning huh? What happened to 84 being all about "family". Ithought I was the epitomy of family, 5 kids and a wife, agrand child and another one on the way! Whatever!! No explanation, just "we're going to take this store in a different direction." Guess I just fell off the ladder. .... So I call to see if my mgr will write me a letter of reccommendation(sp) the next tues. and some guy named Paul answers the phone. So much for being "laid off" too. I'd been replaced already. Shady things are afoot at your local 84, make no mistake about it.

I was with 84 for 13 years. I had been one of their top managers in the compnany in years past. Such as Globetrotters (which I didn't go on ,drinking and partying is not my thing) in the top 10 of gross profit percent, and largest in increase of gross profit dollars.
My store was down but still doing better than most in my area. But our store was paid for in full and I was told that it did not fit the company mold. So my area manager came in on a Feb Monday morning and said the store is closed as of now!
I was told that Monday that I would have a job. So I stayed to close the store and tried to help out my people. Well come Friday when the store was done closing I was told that there was not a position for me!
So after 13 years a to many moves to mention all my family and I where thrown out on the streets. Yes I do mean my family as they have sacrifced alot for my job (60-70 hr work weeks, always moving, me being stressed, missing kids functions).
I did a good job for 84 and I believe that I would still do a better job than most. But 84 only cares for 84. Belief me I know I had been around enough to see enough good people to bee kicked to the curb.
They just don't care abouth their people! Like I said I knew this while I worked for them. They put a good front on out in public but behind close doors its a totally different story (I have been with some of them behind those doors)
