Underwriter's Point of View in Manorville, New York 7 months ago |
WingMan in Corona, California said: Not sure from an UW point of view if this is a good job - from the LO point of view you will get reamed on your payout, you cant lock your rate until the appraisal is back, they will force you to lock for 45 days and take less rebate because they are slow and cant close deals quick...shall i go on? Stay away from these guys! ***I DO NOT WORK FOR Amerisave- Just taking industry pulse*** Why is it that loan officers always think everything is the processors job? In this business, every successful loan officer IS Pro-active, not Reactive. Furthermore, this needs to be clear: Processors are not loan officers, they are underwriter assistants who liaison with borrowers. One LO poster commented that the condo questionnaire had not been ordered by the processor and because of this the loan did not close. News Flash: Its your loan - take responsibility, you took a condo app, next step is immediately gather the associations info and provide the questionnaire- get whatever is needed so the deal can close-stay informed. Also, do not lock loans that do not have all conditions cleared because obviously this will be eating up re-lock fees. These are simple suggestions that seasoned loan officers should know. Having managed an organization for 12 years, when responsibility is put back on the right person, its amazing how smooth things can run- Zero BB complaints using the upfront model. Unfortunately there is a mindset out there that thinks everyone else should be doing everything for them, instead of what they should be doing for themselves and their clients. That mindset needs to correct its own problems, whereas by not being proactive, operations backlog ensues. In short, do your upfront work -do not just expect to slap the deal in and have it close, because if you do not care about your work, no one else will. On the other hand if you make an effort, people will go out their way to try and work with you - its that simple. |
