I started the process on 5/11/13.
Went in for RJP on 2 weeks later (for wire tech position)
Received the conditional offer on the 28th of May.
Submitted my background check to Hireright
Went in for physical 2 days later.
Hire right background completed on around June 4th
Received a phone call from recruiter next day to clear discrepancies.
Received call from recruiter on June 10th to let me know background cleared and was just now working on the wage credits and that I should receive my final offer soon.

It has been a week so i am just trying to stay hopeful. I would say to anyone that if you are currently working while applying to AT&T, DO NOT put in your two week. This process does seem to take a little longer than other job processes. From what I have seen on this forum it could take upwards to 6 months for a final offer depending on what area you applied to and also position title.

I think it's about what you put on your resume and how honest you are. I was suppose to work in Farmers Branch, but happened to see something in Austin and applied there and was hired within days. I think it was because of the supposed high turn over rate for my position. Good luck to you all.

I spoke to a rep at HireRight this morning who said that they completed their portion of the background check on June 6; and that the ball was now in the court of the AT&T recruiter. When trying to contact AT&T via Randstad Sourceright, I'm getting the run-around as far as who the recruiter is for my area.

Regardless, I hope to hear something soon.

You can always check your status on HireRight. Did you not know that it was completed? If so it may just be the hiring staff that is lagging. Sometimes they have to get enough to make a class, and other times I believe they fill up a class and have to wait until the next.

No, I didn't know it was completed as the HireRight site still shows it "In Progress"

A friend (and AT&T employee) told me that I probably just missed the last class and that they are probably working on filling up the next class.

I'm hoping this is the case; it would be nice if someone at AT&T/Randstad could relay that information.

I applied for the Wire Tech job about one month ago... it says almost one month ago. It said that I would be contacted within the next 24 hours for the next step if this job required it. Welp, a month later and still haven't received an email or phone call or nothing. I just want to take the dang test! Anyone else have or had this problem???

Figured I would chime back in... my recruiter contacted me middle-late August stating that she got word that there may be some openings in my location in late October. She contacted me yesterday morning stating that they had gotten confirmed start dates of 10/25 for my area, but my background check had expired and I will have to resubmit a background check (will not have to redo any tests or interviews) to be considered. I have done everything she's asked so far, so I will hopefully make it in for the 10/25 hiring this time around.

I received an email from a recruiter stating that I passed my RJP/WTA interview and assessment. How long does it take to get a call or email for the drug test and background check. Are any of you from Jacksonville? If so, how much are they paying here?

Usually they call like the next day. Maybe you should resubmit an application.

I received a conditional job offer today. I submitted my background today and go in for the physical and drug test in the morning. I assume training will be starting very soon because they STRONGLY enforce getting it all done in a timely fashion! Good luck everyone!

They strongly enforced me getting everything done in a timely fashion too... that was the end of May.

FWIW... I just submitted my second drug test and background check earlier this week as the first ones expired before an opening was available.

The RJP lasted about 3.5 hrs with 12 of us and I got a conditional Job Offer 3 hrs later at 8pm. Went and did piss test and physical next day and initiated background check before I went all on May 24th. Been on standby since so we'll see..... Just realized I hadn't updated. Ha I was hired on June 14th and finished all classes and training mid August and have been on my own for about 1.5 months and turn Tenure 1 next Monday. Don't fret but if your not in by years end your probably not getting in this push is for the big gear up to hit rural areas all next year. We just opened up TV service in one of my Turfs so it's going to be crazy busy but at this moment we've doing about 9 hrs a day. Good luck guys

I've completed everything on my part. Awaiting HR to call with my official offer and start date. For EVERYONE getting ready to start background checks and employment verification (PLEASE) make sure you can verify your employment as this will cause long delays and may prevent employment. Does anyone in Jacksonville, FL or St Augustine, Fl know when the next class starts for this area????

I just scheduled my Technical Mechanical Test Field II here in Knoxville, TN. Does anyone know where they send you for training? I had to do 8 weeks of training before with AT&T for a different position a few years ago but they moved that department to Birmingham which is where I happened to do my training. Needless to say, I was laid off. I do remember that the accommodations were pretty nice and they took good care of you. Just curious where they train the Wire Tech's. And if anyone here works or has worked as a Wire Tech in Knoxville, was it a permanent job or contract, and was it union? How are the benefits, mainly healthcare coverage? It was free before but I heard that changed. Thanks in advance for your help!

The previous comments about the hiring/interview process are accurate. They had a group testing event set up at a hotel and I went there to take the test (its like the asvab), and you could even do your application online there too. 50 min for 50 questions. I got the results that I passed 2 days later. And then was scheduled for the rjp/interview 2 days after that. However, there was another at&t employee at the rjp interviewing for the same position, which made me feel very uncomfortable. And the guy who interviewed me (standard questions about how you handled a "roadblock" at work, why do you want to work for us, how did you handle a difficult customer, tell us about your background, what did you like least about your previous job, etc), did not seem to understand that I have a strong customer service background, and have the technical training from my military service, and being a certified computer tech certified in Windows 7, and I told him of my A+, Security+, and Network+ certifications. He nodded his head like he knew what I was talking about and I am sure he was just going thru the motions of filling out the interview sheet for formality/official documentation that I was there.

So...it took me 30min to drive home and when I checked my email I had already received the rejection letter from them saying I was not what they were looking for?! But my application would stay on file, for 6 months. If I can pass the U.S. Navy's nuclear training program, then I am sure I can adapt and train to be an outstanding wire tech for at&t. I have never received a rejection letter that fast after an interview...so to me it seems that the decision about whether to hire me or not was already made before I even got there. So thanks to them I got bent over again by another employer who doesn't recognize good talent when they see it, and I wasted approx. 3 hours of my life and $20 in gas. If you do get hired, ur very lucky, and don't quit.

Hi on February 20 I applied for the a wire techinican job. Then a little while later the same day I got a email asking for my social security number and the wotc (tax credit thing). Well on feb 22 I got a email for me to take the TMFT II test. I went and did that on the feb 27 and passed it. I emailed hr and told them I was qualified on the TMFT II test. She said she would move me forward with a passing score. Yesterday on March 8 my job status says this.

I have a good background in cable/satellite experience. I was wondering what does that mean. ?? They gonna contact me in a few days to interview me and offer a job or does it mean they are not interested in me. I haven't gotten no emails yet from them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi I am going thru this whole long process myself and was wanting to know if they did add pole climbing to the required testing for the wire tech job? And if it is how hard it is to do, I have a problem with my knee and dont know if i could climb with just hooks. Any help from anyone would be good.

You might want to re think your career choice. Premise/Wire Tech (it's the same job)at AT&T is nothing but grief. Pole climbing is not part of the testing, it is part of the training.

I applied in January and I've been through the RJP. I was sent an email to join a conference call and was given a contingent job offer providing I pass the background check, drug test, and physical. I completed all of them and I've been waiting to hear back. I received and email telling me to reapply under a new job number. Has anyone else had a similar experience or can anyone provide a heads up? Thanks.

I applied for a wire tech position here in Augusta GA on 4/15/14. Heard nothing from them. I went to an AT&T job fair a Augusta Tech and took the TMFT test on 4/22/14. On 4/25/14 I got an email telling me I qualified and that I needed to send a confirmation email to a provided email address so that I could reserve a slot to attend the RJP RTA/WTA. I replied immediately per the instructions in the email. I received no response until Monday 4/28/14. "The response i received was : As of 4/25/14, We are not hiring for this position. Therefore there will be no interviews". .....REALLY?!?!! Why are you advertising for it on this very website??!?!? Why is the position still available for application on the taleo.att website? What company has a job fair, tests individuals, communicates the results of said test, then tells them that they are not hiring for the position?!? WOW

Is there any current or former wire techs in Memphis that could give me any insight on if this job is worth leaving a 14.50 pay scale with plenty OT?
