What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable?

How does Accountemps stack up against the competition?

Accountemps is one of the best agencies out there. All agencies are alike. They all operate the same way. But in the end if you want the agency that can make the biggest impact, it is Accountmeps. They have the largest base of Accounting positions available. We all get upset becasue we need work and dont feel anyone is on our side but I know they work hard to place people. Unfortunately we complain about them(Accountemps) but in the end they are just doing the same thing we are doing--looking for jobs for us. We put all our eggs in their basket to find us a job when we need to realize they are only another resource. It isnt their fault I dont have a job. It is my fault. The same goes for any recruiting service. Unless you are paying them money out fo your pocket to specifically find you a job, be happy they are there to be a resource.

This is NOT true. Not all agencies are alike! There is a HUGE, HUGE difference between the larger company's and the specialty firms. We actually give a crap about our candidates and clients....and we don't have the highest turnover in the industry either.

I have had experience with accounttemps and temporary ave. They are both great companies but I give TA the edge. They both seemed to care about us and paid decent. THey would always try to get me something better and checked up on me to see how things were going.

BUT...You must remember that these are accounting/finance specific agencies. Most positions require degrees and experience so we are in higher demand.

Great post Jeff. Most positions do require good credentials. Try Adecco Finance in San Jose. They got me a 30k raise and promotion doing the same darn thing at a different company!

I beleive not only do they discriminate against the older personal, but that stupid testing tells them nothing about the person and what their potential really is. I have never been treated so badly but when I had to take those tests and they told me that I did not even score high enough to qualify for any jobs that they had open. It is a real shame that more employers don't check out these companies when they start working with them, especially with the fees that they do pay them to find a person(s) to come and work for them.
It was just a joke and I really don't understand how they can stay around with the treatment of people that actually come in their looking for help in trying to get another job.

Accountemps is by far the best staffing resource out there. I own a company in Bethesda and needed a staff accountant. I called the bethesda office and they were very professional and honest with me. The staffing managers there had very good technical knowledge of the market and accounting. Accountemps filled my position in a timely manner and helped bridge the workflow gap i had.

I would recommend Accountemps to any company in Montgomery county looking for a temporary accountant
