I accepted a temp-to-hire position and was told it would pay $11.00 an hour when I was hired on permanently. I sent Accountemps an acceptance letter with these details in writing. After a month Accountemps called and said the owner would like to hire you on at $9.25 an hour. I said I was told it pays $11 and I am not interested if it doesn't pay $11. Accountemps said they would get back to me and see what they could do. The next day (Wed) someone shows up in the office for a job interview. The day after that (Thu) a new person starts working in the office. Finally I get a call from Accountemps on Friday evening at home saying they were unable to get me $11 an hour, but if I return to that office for an additional 1 or 2 weeks then they will find a new assignment for me. I did not return to the job and I will not work for Accountemps again. |

I'm not surprised. I worked for a 3PL which hired through Aerotek Staffing. The temps were paid $11 an hour through the agency, but when it came time to hire them, our cheapskate GM only wanted to pay $10.50. Fear of a mass walkout was the only reason he caved and paid what the employees were expecting. The employers and agencies need to be on the same page and up front with employees from the beginning, so there's no misunderstandings later. |

I did not return to the job and I will not work for Accountemps again. This exact same thing happened to me. In Reno, NV I was sent on an interview for a company at $17.00 and hour and a couple weeks go by and I get called and A/T tells me they would like to offer me the job at $15.00. I asked her why it was changed and she told me the company's Controller decided they didn't want to pay that much at first, (this was a multi-million dollar construction firm). I told them that most companies are looking for people with INTEGRITY and I wont work for a company that does not have Integrity and will change the dollar amount after the interview. Recently we found out that both Robert Half and Accountemps have put a remark on mine and my husbands file that no one in any of their offices are to work with us. We have thought of filing a law suit but have decided that we wont work with scum. So when we do our job searches we put in what we are looking for and put (-Robert) at the end of our keyword search. |
