Watch out-Agencies will waste your time and
I have dealt with the seattle stores(that all they are). They want to bring you into their office in order to find out where you last worked at in an effort to place a candidate in your last job. Basically they want you to help them generate business. Very sleazy way of customer generation. If you are looking for work go directly to employer websites. |

Mr C. in Kent, Washington said: Watch out-Agencies will waste your time ... It never ceases to amaze me how people will fall into two basic groups in many cases and each group is absolutely convinced only their way will work and the other way will not work for anyone. No matter how much evidence to the contrary, that clearly shows both sides are successful, the debate goes on. Go to a dog forum and the two groups are fighting over whether the animal should have real bones or fake bones. A pet bird forum and the battle is over seeds versus pellets. Any job forum and it is a dispute between agencies versus direct application. Trust me, both ways work. Some people are succesful using agencies and some using direct application and some (myself) have used both methods successfully. If it keeps your dog happy or your bird alive or you get a job, what difference does it make when all is said and done? One man's trash is another man's treasure. |

Charlie:
Additionally, I encourage them to also use staffing firms. Clearly, the more viable options you use in a job search, the more likely you are to see a return. It's very much like "saturation" in advertising. Effective ad planning involves a variety of markets, approaches and consistent efforts to get a message across to the widest possible audience. I've done the same in my own job searches, too.

You are so right, i've dealt with so many temp agencies in the past and its done NOTHING for me. They have more people that need jobs then actuall jobs. They continue to recruit more people knowing dang well there aint any jobs. Just for them to say they'll update your information and never call you back!!! |

These agencies are crap. First I applied for a job that I am qualified for through the agency. They will ask you to go for a meeting, fill out a lengthy application, and 'kindly' tell you they will 'submit' your resume to the company. Instead of doing everything beforehand, they just want to take a 'look' at you before actually doing anything. I agree that if you can go directly to the employers' website. I've met like 3-4 agencies so far and they wasted my time, gas, and money. They're a bunch of crap and liars. |
