Do you work at ADP? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview? Any advice for someone trying to get in? |

Eloy L. Telles in El Paso, Texas said: how to apply Good luck. Even knowing a VP in SBS didn't help. ADP does telephone interviews to 'weed out' the undesirables. If you don't get past this person the first time you won't get past them for subsequent positions for which you apply. |

I had a similar experience in atlanta. I applied for a position in alpharetta, ga and had a phone interview. Of course I received a letter in the mail indicating they chose some one else. I have continued to apply for several positions including entry level which only require a GED/High School Diploma and I have a 4 year degree. Seems as if you don't make it past one recruiter you are blocked. Such a shame because they have multiple jobs available and they pay well. In Atlanta you get jobs based on who you know...not your credentials and that's a FACT! |

Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland said: I am a Sales Recruiter with ADP. I applied for a customer service position with ADP here in Chandler, AZ. After the phone interview, I was given the opportunity to have a face to face interview with one of the hiring managers in this location. The interview went very well in my opinion, and I was told that I would be contacted in a week with the managers' decision. It has been a week and I still have not heard from anyone. Is it appropriate for me to call the manager with whom I had the interview and ask whether or not they have reached a decision? Thank You for your advice |

it is very appropiate. If you felt it went well, track down the person you met with and reiterate your interest in the position. a great follow up question may be if you have any concerns how may I address those with you? at the very least find out why they made a decision not to go with you. but be prepared for honest feedback if you want to be better at interviewing you can't get mad at them. good luck. |

Shane, I am a recent graduate. I received my BBA in Computer Information Systems on May 12, of this year. I recently was denied a position for a Benefits System Operator position. It took my almost a whole month before the recruiter in charge of my application gave me the results. I have applied to several other I.T related positions there, and was wondering what the best way to get myself in the door is? I have emailed my recruiter to see what she thinks, but hasn't responded and doubt she will; according to my previous experience with her. What are my next steps? Thanks, Sergio |

Thank You for the advice, Shane. I do have one last question for you if you don't mind. Being that ADP guards the contact info of its' employees, I do not have a way to directly contact the manager that handled my interview. Is there any way that I can recieve that information, or would it be just as effective to call the main office phone number and ask for his extension? Also why is it that ADP makes it so difficult for potential employees to do a follow-up? Is this another way for them to weed out the weak? Thank you! Karen |
|
Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland 58 months ago |
Karen, going forward always ask for contact information, business card etc.... now that I am done scolding you, follow up and at the very least leave a voice mail. If you had grabbed a business card the follow up would be a breeze. it's not that we are fort knox, here, a little initiative will get you thru to the point of at very least a message on their machine. remember, don't tell your life story over the voice mail either ;-) hope this helps. |

Sergio in El Paso, Texas said: Shane, Sergio, to be blunt, from the sound of it, you may not have been the most coveted prospect. being a new grad, you have to understand that. If I were in your situation, get the recruiter on the phone and ask their advice on what they reccomend as a path for you to go down if not now, but in the near future so you can revisit and opportunity with ADP. getting as little as 6 months experience then revisiting can do wonders for an applicant. the follow up will be appreciated and noted, make sure you let them know. again, I hope this helps! |

My question is I have BS in Economics, my work experience is with the banking industry and automotive industry. I have heard ADP is a very good company to work for. With my previous experience in banking, I was a teller, new accts clerk, and loan counselor. Now, I currently work in the automotive ind. as a quality tech. but, want to do something more pertaining to my economics degree. Therefore, what would be a good job to start with at ADP? |
|
Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland 58 months ago |
Carol, I specialize in Sales Recruiting and would not want to give you advice on something I am not versed in. If I were you, search the word 'economics' on ADP.com and see what roles pop up. it will be tough considering you have roles that are not in line with the work you are pursuing. you may be best suited to find a job within ADP that you will be able to transition your current skill set and leverage that into a different dept. down the road. last year over 35% of ADP hires came from internal transfers. so find a job that you will enjoy doing the day to day and apply. don't apply to a ton of jobs, b/c it looks bad from our perspective. button up your resume and cover letter and follow up. it takes a little initiative to track down the recruiter for that role. if you are able to, you may have a chance to pitch your case on the phone. best of luck, |

Is anyone out there that is interested in ADP attempting to get a position with the Dealer Services division? I have worked in automotive and been a client for ADP, but have not been for about two years now. I am trying to find if anyone knows an easy way to locate specific dealer services positions. On adp.com it seems that I have a difficult time finding many because there are so many positions for Employer services, etc. If anyone knows of a good way to filter that out, please post as it may be useful to others. Thanks,

the position you applying for is a very important one for ADP. the best thing you can do, you might not have control over for today. there is tremendous amount to learn about ADP protocol, a hiring manager may look for job tenure history as a major peice of criteria. make sure your resume is absolutely FREE of spelling errors. and when asked a question that involves your skill set... be specific with real examples of how you have used it to help you in your work. the executive needs to know you can handle the load of work and be efficient with your time. this is pretty generic with the tips......again, hopefully you can take something from this. |

Hello Shane, I am looking for a position in customer service within a call center environment and have some sales backround through Mortgage Banking as a Loan Officer. I read that you are a sales recruiter and although it may not be your department I was wondering if you knew if ADP has a call center that provides customer service. I have extensive experience and skills in the Customer Service/Call Center field and I know I would be a great asset to your company. Would you be able to point me in the right direction for a position in Atlanta, GA. |

Hello, I wanted to share insight regarding my experience with ADP. I am a recent college graduate who applied for a outside sales rep job via ADP's website. I recieved a phone call from a recruiter the next day to set up a phone interview. The IV went well and met with a hiring manager the next day. After the F2F, he wanted me to meet with a group of managers the next day. AFter the 2nd F2F, I left the building and the sales manager called me ten minutes later to schedule a ride-along. |

Dear ADP Recruiter: I am currently trying to reach my ADP recruiter, Megan, my friend who currently works at ADP in as a Major Account Sales - Trainee. I am an aggressive salesman with a proven history of top performance. How do I hunt down my recruiter? I know if I can just get them on the phone I will obtain the position of Major Account Sales - Trainee and hit president's club within my first year. Any advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for your time and courtesy. Sincerely, Mark Mayfield Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland said: I am a Sales Recruiter with ADP. |

I live in the Augusta GA area (where the new service center is located). I had applied when they first started accepting applications last year and I recently got a call for a Remote Install Specialist position. I have the work experience and 4yr degree to obtain the job. I made it throught the phone interview and have the face to face scheduled with 2 folks from Illinois next week. But I was also called for another position from the local office that I am interested in but not as interested in as the Remote Install specialist. I have that interview on Thursday. I am going to interview for both. But I am stumped on what my options are if I should get offered both. Should I explain to the one that I am less interested in that I would really like to interview for the other position and see what the outcome of it is before saying yes or no. Can I even do that? I do not want to pass up the oppotunity to work for ADP. Any help that is offered would be appreciated! Thanks. |

quite the situation your in. I reccomend that you proceed with your number one choice. you already have the ball rolling with that anyway. Do both recruiters know you are interviewing for 2 positions? I would make sure they are on the same page about that. most likely they will say to finish out your existing interview and see how it goes......then possibly wrap it up with the other position. good luck! |

Sorry no info on your position in El Paso. Visit adp.com and scroll thru any openings you feel are a fit for your skills. The appropriate recruiter should reach out for you. I don’t have a specific name, so make sure your skill set match with the role you are applying to...they will call you if there is a chance that you will be a qualified applicant. |

cold call the company and get a name. not that hard to do. just tell them the person your looking or the role you think they are in and you will be transferred to the right person. good luck. |

What is the purpose of the online assessment? I have had one face to face interview and was advanced to the next stage (the online assessement). Is this a factor to determine whether or not I get offered the job. Is this a part of the process for all jobs? |
|
Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland 57 months ago |
it's an added tool to help qualify candidates in process. every candidate I consider has to take it. wish you the best of luck on your interview! where you interviewing? |

Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland said: I am a Sales Recruiter with ADP. Actually it was not an outside sales position. It was a call center customer service position. Not only do I have a 4 year degree but I also have over 19 years call center customer service experience. The attitude of the 'recruiter' is disdain and complete lack of understanding why a person would want to change industries or move to a company that actually has a future and offers a chance at promotion. |

talk with your recruiter who spoke with you initially and let them know. as far as my experience goes, each division may be more strict or less on certain issues as it pertains to the that specific position. being up front might earn you some points. however, this is no guarantee as to what the outcome will be. put your best foot forward and good luck. let me know how it goes. thanks, Shane |

It is exciting to see such interest in ADP as an employer. Please continue to apply to adp jobs. There is no such thing as "blocking" candidates who are interetsed in multiple positions. If you are turned down for 1 position please let your recruiter know you are intrested in other positions. We will do our best to match you up with our recruiters who's jobs you are interested in. |

Hi everyone. My specific questions are directed toward Jana & Shane: I made it through the initial screening, passed the sales assessment, and on Wednesday, I have an interview for a technology sales position with Dealer Services in Pittsburgh. Do you have any suggestions and / or input regarding the types of questions that might be asked or the level of experience they are seeking? Also, how far along in the interview process have I gone? (i.e., are there several additional interviews or steps?). My background includes 13+ years sales experience, with my biggest strength being closing the sale (I can provide documentation). Also, I have an extensive automotive background with one of the biggest dealerships in the area. Will it hurt my opportunity because I haven't completed my college degree? Thank you so much in advance, and if you have any further suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. Jeffrey Woynar |
|
Shane Burke in Baltimore, Maryland 56 months ago |
Jeff, unfortunately I don't have answers to those questions. Each business Unit operates differently than the other. However after reading your e-mail, I have to ask why you don't just reach out for the recruiter that is coordinating this to begin with? The Recruiter should be able to walk you through the whole process and give you an understanding of what to expect for your interview. That is a major part of our role once you move past the first step. good luck and let me know how you do! Shane |
