Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Advantage Sales and Marketing? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Advantage Sales and Marketing? |

my typical work day is I wake up, check my voicemail, get my machine working, and then I head out to my first store and begin work. I have about 2-3 hours at each store and I'll have about 2/3 stores a day, not including c-stores which take less than 5 mins. I am a retail sales merchandiser. I enjoy my job and treated great from my employers. And I have never had to cut back hours. I can work 40 hours evrey week. |

That sounds great Gary... I just got hired as a retail sales merchandiser and had some questions. Would you say it's a 9-5 job? Is it 8-5? Or is it just what you make of it? Have you ever worked more than 40 hours to get more hours? (my pay is hourly so was jw if that's allowed). And the benefits... health insurance and stuff... I haven't heard anything about this. How is it? Thanks for any help |

I work in the NY metro office not as a Merch. but know that Retail Merch. do not receive benefits and are limited to 40 hours a week. The dress code is casual, jeans and a golf shirt are fine and not hats allowed. It is more of an 8-5 job... Me in Cincinnati is an idiot, don't listen to them.... Usually after work cordials are coordinated by people who work in the office but that depends on your relationship with co workers and what you want to make of it |

Yeah Retail Merchandisers don't get benefits. I just got my employee packet and full time Retail SALES Merchandisers get benefits and the like. You say relationships with coworkers... but don't merchandisers kind of work from home and are on their own for the day? Or are you paired together with other employees? I was kinda lead to believe it was just me out there on my own in my territory. Thanks for the response! |

Well.... in two years of employment. I never in the least got a feel for the realiability and culture of Advantage Sales and Marketing. In the demo's programs you have people that were promoted to Club Supervisors after like 8 months of employment. Don't get me wrong I am all for that if they are qualified and driven to get the job done. I am all for that if they are go getters who what to be the best of the best, or at least stand out for the good in someway. BUT instead the newly placed club supervisors got about as much training as us event specialist's got. Which was NONE!!!! They threw us out there and we had to figure it all out for our selves. Now I know its just cooking and talking, but there are safety standards too...... lets just say the health inspector set us all straight at one point in time or another. NOT ASM, and not our DISTRICT MANAGER, and for sure not our CLUB SUPERVISORS, but the HEALTH INSPECTORS. Now where is the good business practice in that. And I know for a fact that is was one heck of a first impression on my Sam's store and its #1 manager. We were known as the "dumb a$....'s" from them on. They think we are ignorant, and lack common sense now, and I don't blame them |
