me said: Yep, "seen one, seen 'em all" I say! This is one of the few agencies I have actually have faith in. The drive interveiw and testing (online from home) took about 3.5 hours. The recruiter was upfront about what jobs were/weren't available, very thorough on what to expect from her, AND she was always very prompt about returning my calls. I admire her genuine interest in her role and helping me. This person is a rarity, but, wanted to let you know, there are some "good guys" out there. |

Hi. This is because most temporary or staffing agencies recruit people's resumes to get the names of the companies where you worked and managers names. By looking at your resume they can tell what kind of jobs that company hires for and get the contact information from you. After you leave, the staffing agency calls the company and pitches their services. (of course they can't pitch you) It seems that then maybe they would pitch you to other peoples companies -not so, they get very few real actual job orders so the ratio of actual jobs to applicants is probably 1,000:1 or worse.

Doug Plucker said: Just another piece of crap recruiting company. Doug. The problem is all recruiting companies put 'bait' ads out for jobs long ago filled. It's their way of netting in new talent but what they fail to realize is they always end up discouraging new candidate and ultimately p****ing off most of us so we never go back to search with them. It's probably better to search on your own rather than rely upon recuiters who mainly scoop up opportunities the way we ourselves can so we really can do as well or better without them. Some of them can actually sell us better than we do ourselves but they are a rare breed and hard to find. |

I just wanted to add a positive comment. I responded to an ad for something and was contacted within hours. The staff have been friendly and have gone out of their way to accommodate me. I had read these comments and was unsure if I would apply, but took the chance and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously not all offices are the same, but I'm proud to say Kentucky is polite, responsive and actually wants to help. |

May just take a few tries to find some good ones. Keep your head up and good luck. If you keep a positive outlook, usually things work out. |

I have kept seeing & applying for the same positions and they never called me or contacted me (BY PHONE,E-MAIL,ETC.) And, YES, I am qualified for the positions. It seems that Aerotek & Office Team are very similar that way!!! I think they are just data seekers waiting to suck all your information from you-the same way people try to amass mailing lists(e-mail and otherwise), and use it for their own good. They're looking out for their OWN best interests, w/ no intention of helping the little guy-much the same way the Bush Admin has been doing for the past several years. |

I have had a similar experience. They place multiple ads for the same positions online. I have a degree and experience, but when the staffing manager called me, he offered me a garbage position for $10.00 an hour. I had applied for a position that payed $18.00 hourly. My address indicated that I lived in a predominantly African-American neighborhood, which may have influenced his offer. I was offended. |

Agencies will give you the runaround, let alone if they even bother to call you at all. |
|
Still Looking in Fayetteville, North Carolina 59 months ago |
I agree that goind direct hire is the best way. However, in the administrative field, MOST of these jobs are not even posted on the company's web sites. Maybe we're not the executive level, but, I think we're worth a posting on their sites. POINT: Alot of jobs are not accessible except through an agency. When I apply onlne for dirct hire, I may hear something back about 15% of the time. However, going through an agency gives me the advantage of testing the company to assess whether I want to stay. Also, usually I learn a new skill each time. Worked with company over 18 yrs and laid off. Had 2 long-term jobs afteer that and looking again. The last one I left due to downgrading of positions.

|
ChiTown Chica in West Chicago, Illinois 59 months ago |
At least for you it is. By getting a job directly thru the employer: 1.) most of all-I avoid getting the runaround, lies & unreturned ph calls from agencies. 2). My pay is usually higher right off the bat 3). My benefits(healthcare, vacations, seniority, etc) begin alot sooner. |

If you had a bad experience with a Aerotek, maybe its because you brought it on yourself. I had a great experience with them and would highly recommend them. Within 1 week they found me an excellent opportunity, but maybe that's because I am professional, have an excellent resume with good job tenure and am not a clown like half of you. |

Besides, maybe Aerotek is unprofessional. I went to a very early-in-the-morning interview, only to be told that there was a mistake on the time. Thanks, Aerotek!!! Who's the clown now? Then when I told the Aerotek girl that I couldn't work the midnight shift, I never heard from her or Aerotek again.(I had not even started the job). |

I am guessing that the individuals with the nasty comments have never done any recruiting work...? Perhaps if you tried to see it from the other side for a moment it would help you to understand the challenges of that job. For example, did you know that recruiters receive hundreds of resumes a DAY from people (and guess what? Every one of them thinks he/she is qualified for the job). And resume screening is only one portion of the responsibilities that come with recruiting. Staffing/recruiting companies can be an excellent resource for job seekers. Every mid to large sized company out there uses staffing services or recrutiers to help staff their positions. They can provide a great "in" to a company and if you take advantage of what they offer, there is usually free training, benefits and flexibility. Wonderful when you are making a career transition or re-entering the workforce. It is, however, a partnership and you need to remember that they do not owe you a job. It is not a guarantee that you will be placed when you register with a service. You should look at it just one more resource for you in your job search. Just like any other employer, you have to prove yourself to them--interview very well, prove your skills through testing, etc. And, you should check in with them on a regular basis and show them that you would be a good representative of their company. |

WATCH OUT. No matter what they might say to rebuttle this... watch out. They were unable to provide research or contacts and follow through in a timely manner as agreed. They did in fact fire the person over the research dept... and then denied they had failed at the job they were paid to do by myself and other customers. DO CHECK THE ORLANDO, FLORIDA BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU RECORDS. To date, they have not completed the agreed task in 9 months (was suppose to be done by Feb) and have not refunded any portion of my money. Sad excuse for a Job search assistance type company |

I guess people aren't buying into the "Be Reasonable! Be Polite!" disclaimer at the bottom. I currently work for Aerotek, and to my knowledge, "screw people over" isn't our business model. I'm completely aware to the fact that all of our recruiters aren't great, or even OK at their job. I am also sure over the years, we've hired some dishonest people. Put that together and we're going to have some unhappy customers from time to time. Me, and the majority of partners here are doing right by people though. That IS our business model. Getting a good job is obviously very important but can be both stressful and frustrating. Here's my only suggestion; if you don't trust a recruiter/company, don't entertain opportunities through them. Focus your efforts elsewhere! If that company happens to be Aerotek, so be it. Most recruiters (at Aerotek and our competitors) have your best interest in mind, you just need to find them. Unfortunately, a select few don't, and since people are 10 times more apt to express displeasure, you just don't hear the good stories as often. Now I'm sure a bunch of you are going to blast me, fine. Try to be positive about your job search though, it'll only help! |

This company does respond back to people because, they are gathering names, numbers, and address to sell to other companies. You name sales for as much as $10.00. That is how you get junk mail, junk emails and phone calls. |

The vast majority of all contracting houses are no good, particularly towards woman. Remember that the contract houses objective is to make money & their relationship is with the customer, not you. If you’re contract the company won’t invest training in you or anything else for that matter. You will be "the outsider". You're not going to learn their software programs. You are simply disposable inventory. The company has no obligations or investment in you. You can be gone in the snap of a finger with no questions asked, no matter how humble you are, no matter how much you bend over backwards to be the ideal employee. Frankly my dear, they don't give a dam. Aeroteck, they call me & keep me on their list of active candidates, but they've never offered me a job in twelve years. I think they're creepy. |
