What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does AIG stack up against the competition? |

I worked for AIG in their HQ data center in NJ for 15 years and was laided off in april 03 with many other people. In 2000 things went down hill the management started changing from the top down and continued to change every 3 months there after.they hired management that had one concept outsource layoff and migrate to the new data center in houston tx.the main problem at AIG is people don't talk to each other and rely on email only.phone what is that ? verify huh? oh and if your a thin tall beautiful woman you will go far there is so much inter office relationships going on yuk...... management is on cruise control.everyone walks around like zombies and who can they screw today attitude.totally un productive DO YOU REALLY WANT TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY ? did you read about M Greenburg former ceo of aig and the attorney general Spitzer I wonder how much spitzer got paid to keep maurice out of Jail... ? hmmmm very shady company it turned out to be.. they need BIG changes...stop hiring friends of friends whos last job was a x fired rocket scientist at raetheon and has no idea what a server or network is.it used to be a great company now they are finally closing the doors in NJ data center and migrated their people problems to houston. goodluck AIG |

AIG laid off their WC division last week in Boston; they are slowly but surely loosing credibility in the marketplace. I wouldn't be shocked if they closed doors in Boston and transferred all remaining biz to NY. |

I was wondering if anyone has heard about AIG/21st Century/aigdirect.com planning to close their offices in Brea and Woodland Hills, California? With all the news about the big drop in the market with AIG, are they planning to out source like many other companies California? |

With all the news about the big drop in the market with AIG, are they planning to out source like many other companies California? I went in to work today at AIG/21st Century Woodland Hills. The entire auto insurance sales department wasin the process of being let go before noon. I am an agent in the Property/Home Agency division and we were retained, for the near future anyway. We were given the remainder of the day off so we wouldn't be seen (working) by the auto department as they left for the last time. |

Yes I was one of the people that got laid off today in the Woodland Hills office in the recovery/subrogation department. The management was only notified of this yesterday and the supervisors were notified this only this morning. They keep everything very hush hush there. Not so much of a shocker with how this company has been doing, but still they should give people a warning ahead of time. |

I am so sick and tired of all their BS....after yesterdays layoffs today they announced another promotion to the AIG exec team....what did they need to kill our people to pay for the promotion? This is ridiculous, just get it over with and die already! |

Well, as for the future I would not count on it....the name AIG is a bad OMEN anywhere in todays reality...and they probably just told you this to keep using you for as long as they need you! Just go away AIG ! |

aig is aint i greedy in Newbury Park, California 43 months ago |
The recovery dept got cut by 30% and the people they laid off were the high production adjusters or should I say "technicians" So the profit that was brought into the company by collecting was cut by 30% - where they going to get the $ to pay back the gov't? So in response to "What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does AIG stack up against the competition?" run and run far do not come here to work the lay offs are not over |

Today at work I looked out my office window and noticed AIG has covered their sign at the Woodland Hills office. Does this mean they are closing that building down? |

They are in the business to make money and they know how to do that. They don't necessarily care about their people but they didn't get 'too big to fail' by accident. I was just let go yesterday due to down-sizing and I can't say I'm surprised or even resentful. The department I worked for was small and is VERY necessary but it isn't 'necessary' to be located where it is. I will not be surprised when the inevitable happens. For those people sitting there in Bedford, NH laughing at my departure thinking they dodged that bullet, I wish them luck. That department WILL be disolved and be absorbed into Berkley Heights, NJ with the larger portion of that division. And frankly, it will be the right business decision for the company purely from a business, cost-cutting perspective. It's not personal. It's just business. And the business's obligation is to the policyholder. Period. |

Heck no they won't survive. They are trimming the fat slowly but surely, sending jobs overseas and consolidating locations but telling employees to remain focused on their jobs..ok sure we can do that. The irony is that the week they start changing things at the top is the anniversary of the Titanic disaster..coincidence..I doubt it..its the tale of two sinking ships. They were bailed out by the taxpayers and are now investing in apartment buildings and laying people off, sad. |
