What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at AIG?

What do you like best about working at AIG? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

AIG does not have bonuses in all areas of the company. For Personal Lines Claims there are no bonuses for the employees. They have very good benefits, but no bonus.

Second you will work like a dog. The pay is under the average of the current market for their claims adjusters, but they pay them more than what they pay their managers who they will pay peanuts to do an enormous amount of work.

Does anyone know what web managers get paid at AIG? I have been offered an opportunity to interview for this position and need to be prepared to answer compensation questions. Also, can anyone shed light on the types of bonusese available to managers? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I work for American General Life & Accident as a sales agent for life and supplemental health insurance for AIG. Your pay will depend on your sales ability and where you live. In this economy people just don’t have the extra money each month so it is getting harder and harder to sell. This year I will probably be luck to pull in 40K. However 2 years ago a gentlemen in my office made over 100k in sales, depends on the market and you sales ability. We get monthly bonuses based on our sales which are usually around 600.00 or more. Your weekly pay is determined by how much you sell. Example if you sell a whole life policy that has a yearly premium of 1000.00 your commission is 450.00. You get 1/2 of that in your pay and the other half goes into a separate account that is there so you still get paid during weeks you don’t make any sales. Each week you get 9% out of that separate account and 1/2 of your total commissions each week (confusing huh). Benefits are worthless. It used to cost 167.00 a week for my family of 4 to be covered and that didn’t include dental, that was an additional 37.00 a week, but I dropped it and got insurance on my own and it was cheaper and better. Very little travel has been required but it will depend on how far out you are willing to make you sales area as to your travel. The only thing I have liked about working there is the schedule flexibility, you make your own. Other than that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone right now. Any special perks will depend on your sales manager. Some offer free trips for you and a guest to places like Mexico if the office reaches a specific sales goal, but again that depends on your manager. AIG offers trips as well based on your sells, but like I said it is really tough right now.

They do a complete background check that can take sometimes about a month. They also do a credit check. I was told at my interview if I had bad credit it didn't matter... it was mainly the background check that mattered.

If it was definitely based on my credit. I would have never gotten hired. AIG is
definitely supposed to do that.

What do you mean......do you have bad credit and they hired you anyway? I applied for a position and am waiting for a review of my credit.

I am an AIG employee on the west coast. The benefits are enjoyable, however I can not get into the corporate perks as I would like to check out a few things.

What did they check, did they call personal references. How do you know they did not check your credit.
