Something's gotta give!

Soooooo interviewed with four people in the NYC office a month ago. The interview went great-everyone liked me and kept asking me when I could start. The last person that I interviewed with said that they would definitely give me a call. I got a call a few days later from someone requesting my dob to do a background check with i provided. i have no criminal background at all. I had to submit w2s back from like my very first job. I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off for a week trying to get all of this information.... Anywho, I got all this info and faxed it in-got a call from the person who was collecting all of my data (outside company) who advised me 2 weeks ago that she had received everything they needed and was submitting it back to AIG and that I would get a call from someone. TO DATE..................NOTHING!!!!! I e-mailed everyone that I interviewed with the day after my interview just thanking them for the opportunity to interview blah blah blah (like a good candidate does)...after these 2 weeks with no calls or e-mails I e-mailed everyone again.....NOTHING!!! Has this happened to anyone? Do they normally take this long to call someone back that they seemed to be so interested in? Some of the threads in AIG forums that I saw said that they never got calls after a great interview but is this also when you submit all the required information? Or was it just an interview?
