Every business has its own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Allergan?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Allergan?

Allergan culture varies highly from department to department. As you work closer with key executives and upper management, the more political it gets and continuous overtime work is required. Should you be unlucky enough to work for departments at are not that well respected, you will receive email and voice messages around the clock and on weekends and you are often expected to respond to these emails ASAP. It is not uncommon that your manager and/or his/her manager will review and comment on your work over the weekend and you will have to finalize your work very soon after that. The turnover rates in these departments are very high and there are problems in recruiting additional employees due to the these reasons. Most employees spend a lot of time every 3-4 weeks to update the milestones for all projects and you will need to update them and synchronize with the whole team on a regular basis. Even when it is not possible to come up with any realistic date estimates, you have to make up dates for these milestones anyway. You will be questioned in detail on how you missed the milestones even if you had to make up these dates.
A lot of people work long hours. Whenever new projects arise, you will not be asked if you are willing to take them. They will just be assigned to you, regardless of your current workload. The parking lot starts to get occupied at 5 am and it is not uncommon for people to work till 11 pm. Some VPs will approach you and join your conversation to find out what you are chatting about if they find you chatting with your colleagues by the water cooler.

It appears that is alot of overtime and oncall abuse at this company. Many employees do not realize that they are entitled to overtime even they are salaried and if true, are paid thousands of dollars then they assert their rights.
