Does anyone know what they check for in their background check??? I realize probably a criminal history but what about credit, job history etc...? I am applying for a claims trainee position in Florida, Coconut Creek and am up to the background check part and do have a blemish in my credit but I have heard of companies checking your criminal history but do they run credit and employment background? Not that I lied or anything but I may Have fudged the dates a little....Anyone know?? Thanks! Arlene

Did you get the job? I am currently up to the background check too in Texas. Just not sure if they are going to check my credit and hold it against me.

thanks - Heidi

I was interviewed for the customer service position. Only one person interviewed me. She started by asking me questions like why Allstate? About my previous employment, why i left them, then she had some papers with questions that she asked me. Total of 5 behavioral/scenario questions like.. Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer and what was your solution and outcome, how did you handle it? Another question...
Tell me about a time when you work in a team, what was your role, outcome of the teamwork?
Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for someone and why, what was the outcome.

These questions she ask were like scenario questions and she writes them down too. After every question she asked I pretty much gave her a story to tell.

Interview lasted me an hour.
Next day, i got an offer email.

Oh I see, hey that was my first interview with them. As a claims specialist.. Unfortunately I didn't get that position. When I was interviewed.. It was two woman in a room with me. One asked ask all the questions and they both wrote them down as I was talking.
Honestly, I don't think I talked enough.
They pretty much will ask you the same questions that I stated earlier, behavioral/scenario questions.
Give them a story, not just an answer.
Think that's where I might have went wrong?
It's still 5 questions.
After that they left the room with a video to watch for about 2-3 mins, and sent me on my mary way..

3 days later, got an email that they will not be moving forward with me.. Bummer. But then the customer service side called and I got that (3-4 weeks later) The difference was..

I talked more when she asked a question.
Well best of luck to ya!! And just in case, apply to other departments too if you want.

What day are you starting for Customer Service? I'm suppose to start this coming Friday 3/20. Have you heard anything about an official offer yet? I did my I-9 yesterday. I'm just praying my offer isn't recanted due to credit (if they did a credit check)

Yeah I start this Friday too the 20th, how exciting. Your finishing your i-9 that's good, means your in. I did get an offer email.
The recruiter I spoke to said.. If everything is good, you'll get an email with the start date, etc. If not, you'll get a call if the recruiter needs any additional information from your background.

I haven't received an email/letter with the start date yet. My recruiter emailed me yesterday and said the only thing pending from my background check was education. I emailed a copy of my high school diploma and she said the received it and is going to process it. Then about 20min later I received a link to complete my I-9. I was thinking everything should be ok because I don't think they would continue if there is something bad that had come up with the other items they check. And I don't think they would have me to complete the I-9 either. Maybe I'm just over thinkng it. I'm just so nervous and this is the job I really want. I just don't want my credit to stop me.

Yeah, I'm sure you got it. You should call the recruiter tmrw though. And you had to send a copy of your education? That's weird, I didn't do that. And I have pretty bad credit too. I did some research and i believe the reason they do a credit check is to see if you owe allstate any money in the past or had bankruptcy. The credit check is a part of the background check. Check with the recruiter tmrw and ask the status of your drug/background check. Make sure that's complete. The i9 was my last step. Definitely think your in. This background check is so annoying grr lol

I don't know why they had a hard time verifying if I graduated from high school or not. I called the background agency twice to provide them a phone number to the school. Then my recruiter reached out for me to send a photo copy. lol. I'm thinking I'm in as well because I think they wouldn't of continued with the background check if something popped up. I'm going to stop stressing. I guess I will meet/see you on Friday lol

Did you have to do a pre-employment drug screen? If so, do you know if it was a 5 or 10 panel? Thank you!
