But now it looks like they are only going to give you 1 week notice to give them. I am really hoping we get a firm date on Monday.

@ Mom you alwys hope they hire the best, but you hear tht someone is being arrested for doin smethng wrong, stealing, bringing in drugs, etc. Really too sad.

Ok I have a couple of questions for anyone that can answer them...

1. how far out did aa tell you that you are going to training. they say we are going on Monday the 21st but they said we would get an email I have not heard anything. She said it sounds a pretty sure thing. Is it normal that they only give you like a week notice?

2. did you get your uniforms in texas or at home? and do they size you or do you just pick the size?

3. how is staying at the training center I have seen some mix reviews of them. what was your stay like?

4. during training what are the hours like? I know we were told it is Monday thru Friday...did you get to do anything on the weekend?

Any help in getting ready for this next step would be great. And annything you sould suggest to bring? Thanks.

I applied as a Inventory Control Specialist back in January and I haven't received a rejection or offer of a job from AA yet, how worried should I be? I called 2 weeks ago and they said they would call me with their decision next week, which was suppose to be last week.

Anonymous I am not sure how worried you should be....They do all there contact thru email make sure you check your spam box. I know I am waiting for my start date and I was told it would come in an email. I was going to call today to follow up and see if I get any info from them.

I would check your spam email and then call. Since they gave you a time frame and you still have not heard from them.

Thank you very much momtozoey, hopefully it works out for me too, it's a dream job, working for one of the biggest airlines, it would be fantastic.

Only downside to all this would be that I interviewed for the job on January 20th, and it's March 14th, so it's sort of frustrating if I get a rejection letter and they took so long to respond in the first place, it's not right for them to make us wait this long for a offer/rejection.

I know that the process is very long and I know Jet never heard back from them which can be very hard just not knowing. I hope you got it. It is for me too a Dream job working for a major airline. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me and I must say I am looking forward to it.

you will have to post to let us know what happens. I know once I got my offer letter it was still a couple of weeks before I got a start date. I just got that today and I start on Monday. I know they said they had not hired anyone new in a long time so that might be the hold up too.

I guess it is a good thing that they changed it to chicago...so I am not going to texas and I can come home every night. I do think Texas would have been fun and the sun would have been great too. But putting my kids to bed at night sounds great. I start on Monday. I am so worried about the training class...any insite you guys can share for csa would be great. I know city codes and most airport codes....anything I should study before hand. I took the travel agent sabre program I don't know if much is different.
I feel like a kid going to their 1st day of school at a new school.

What job did you get anyway momtozoey? Just wondering.

Training class is exactly what it is, for training, it's not like you're going to go in there knowing everything, so don't sweat over it.

I got a csa part time ... just what I wanted since I still have young kids right now...time away from them and to make some extra cash to help out. Perfect fit I think.

I know it is I am just bad a taking tests I think I over study and over think what I am doing. I am also known for second guessing myself. I just have to get started then I will be fine.

I know if you go in there you can pick up a rules of the road type book to study for it. You have to go to the same place you take your photo for that.

I hear some are going to texas in a later class. I am happy that I can start next week. And that it is in chicago so I can still put my kids to bed early.

I am so stressed about this next week...I guess I should not listen to some people. But I worry about what I have heard there this whole last week. I guess only time will tell. 2 more weeks. I am taking it a week at a time. And hoping for the best.

well it took like a week before I heard anything...I ended up calling to find out what was going on. I can tell you since I am sure you are going to ORD....that the ladies in charge of the new hire stuff are running around crazy right now. You will hear something. It will most likely be a phone call from ord with a start date. That is what happened to me. I was given one weeks notice too. So hang in there or call the talent services dept and they might be able to let you when you will hear something. But it does take about a week. give or take.

Hi momtozoey,

First Congrats on your new adventure, how exciting. Good luck with your training and enjoy your new job! :-)))

I have applied for several airline positions and hope to get into the airline industry soon.
How did the interview go? Any main questions?
I applied for CSR but have not received a call. I do have an interview w/ AE for PSA and wondering how much of the training is here in Chgo and how much is in Texas. Any help you can give me would be great.

thanks

Kam Kam thanks it is hard training...but the teacher we got is great and I think she is the sameone you will have. I can tell you she loves her job and really wants you to learn. Training is long...it starts at 830 am and goes until 5pm but you have to get in early to get the homework done since most can not be done at home. There are tests that you have to pass but the teacher gives you lots of info so you just have to take notes. You should bring a lunch everyday when they move your class out of the terminal. We were only in the terminal for one week. Then we moved to a class room. There you have to bring your lunch. And I hate to tell you that is when I do homework. I can tell you it is hardwork but so worth it and you will be going home and almost going to bed. Bring pens, paper and a highlighter. Bring lots of water to drink during the day. If you don't get you ID then you can not bring anything to drink thru security in the terminal building. But they do have employee pop machines. Also check out quizlet.com study the city codes search american airlines. You bid on your hours in training. they pick by birth year. You get one week of buddy bid then you bid on your hours. Hope that helps. oh get comfy shoes to wear to training you will need them. Depending on the teacher when you are in the classroom they might let you wear jeans. Our does and that makes it nice.

Thanks so much for the info! Sounds like you are keeping busy.
Do you drive? where do you park? or do you take the Blue Line into the airport?

So are you going to Dallas at all for training? If so how long? or are they keeping all the training here in Chicago.
I will check out the website! Thanks for the inside scoop!

Dallas is normally two weeks the same in chicago. It is very busy...I did drive because you never know how long you will be there. Also if you drive you can go to employee parking which they will give you info on getting to. You can then go right into the classroom. I get there early and work on the days work before the class starts that way I can leave right at 5 or close too. If you take the train you have to go thru the terminal and get on a bus to the employee lot to get to the building. It is alot but just review everyday and you will do fine. When you are in the terminal I would take the train if I could but I am west so I have to drive.

A buddy bid is where they pair you up with someone to work for one week doing your job. It is like on the job training with a other employee who has been there for awhile. You have to bid on your hours so you will not know what those hours will be. You do this for one week.

not a problem any questions please feel free to ask...I know I was lost with the whole process. I worried about everything and still find the stress level of training very high. But knowing that I am in week and that I just need to take it one day at a time I am feeling much better about it. We have core training test 2 on tuesday and then the last one on Friday. I can tell you that you have to get at least an 80% on the all the test. Well after the 1st one they are averaged out. But with just a little review each day a good note taking you can do it. I also learned to look at it before you hit enter. In the field you would get a error in the class you just get it wrong. So step back take your time...enter it look at it the press enter.

Thanks for being so encouraging. I hope I pass the interview process, which I'm so nervous because you never really know what they are looking for. I have never worked for the airlines so I hope I can prove to them I have great customer service skills and can be an asset to the company.

Good luck with your testing, sounds like you are doing well with the training, and will do just fine! :-))

ps. did you have an interview at the airport or at another location.

I did my interview right at ohare...it was long...alot of waiting. I too have no airport exp. but they are looking for someone that will always put the passenger 1st and is willing to work funny hours and most holidays. Just answer their questions with honset up front answers. I am learning so much it is a hard two weeks but it is well worth it. They even fit you for your uniform right then. I think with ae they give you a set dollar amount to spend and if you go over that you pay the difference. They do a uniform exchange we were told in OCT.so only get what you have to get. Good luck with your new hire process.

I have also applied for a Staff Assistant position w/ AA but haven't heard anything yet. I'm really excited about the interview and the process. That's nice they give you some $ for uniforms. I'm open to different hours/holidays ect... but I'm taking a few classes at a community college and they end in May. So I hope that does not clash with anything. Thanks for being my support on this site!!! I really appreciate it.

kam kam, how u doing? I got a call today for an interview next Wednesday for the staff assistant position with AA. Some positions they tell u how much they pay upfront but for this one, they didn't specify. O'hare is a lot closer that MDW so i guess that's a plus. I just want to get in the airline industry. Good luck on your interview.

I do not know anything about that position. I can tell you my interview was with two people. There were 20 of us that were interviewed at my time. They did not say you had the job they just said we are pleased to tell you that you made it to phase 2. which is prints and medical. The benefits look good I did not take them because I already have some so I did not need them. The flight benefits are good. Everyone is really nice that works there that I have had to deal with so far. But I can not answer to how people are on the floor. I don't start there until next week. I guess we will see how that goes.
