I am not an AMF fan, but they had an amazing commission plan... I say amazing, because of its ability to dissappear. Like many companies, AMF does not worry about the little guys. Unit managers and above can make a living and bonuses are worth shooting for, if your location can meet the numbers.

Regarding salaries, mine was a reasonable base and, although not generous, I knew I could max out the the commission plan. Before my hiring, a regional VP wrote me an email that clearly outlined my earning potential. Using specific examples, the sales positon could gross 130k. If you're in sales - beware of AMF execs with forked tongues!

He was right for a few months, then they trashed the commission structure all together with promises that a newly formed exec committee would quickly revamp and implement another commission plan. Over the next 12 months, that committee never met together once. So much for commissions.

This summer, AMF eliminated all sales positions nationwide. Another regional VP informed me that every similar position to mine was heading the direction of my commissions - into the toilet.

Any company that believes they can maintain sales without sales people has got their head stuck firmly in a bowler ball polisher. I'm hoping AMF gets the same wax job that my peers and I were given.

In this site today, I saw AMF advertising for a sales position in Richmond. Tough requirements - high school degree and one year sales experience. Hopefully an Iranian dung salesman will get that career opportunity.

I wouldn't even tell someone I disliked to choose AMF. In 2 years with them, I never saw one smart corporate decision, or the slighest glimmer that anything will change.
