We understand that there will be days when associates must call out sick and we have a very fair absence policy. We allow 5 absences in a 12 month period and if you are out more than 3 days in a row, it is only counted as 1 occurrence. The up side is, if you come to work on time, perform well, and balance your drawer, you are eligible for a bonus, which is a large cash bonus plus a paid day off. You can earn this bonus quarterly. Last year over 2300 Associates earned performance bonuses!! What we find is a typical Associate may earn the bonus 2 times a year which could mean roughly $400 and 2 days off. They then save the money and the days off for when they’re sick in the future. Most Associate love the bonus plan because they’re being rewarded for showing up to work on time and simply doing their job well. We also care about providing good health care for our associates that is why last year we spent $3 Million a year on insurance for our associates. |
