To any member or trying to gain access to become a member of the United States military. I have something to say. Regardless if you sit behind a desk, you are in a trench in war fair, if your training at a facility, if you process the lunch trays, if you hand out mail, if you have sacrificed family time, or if you have signed up to essentially give your life if need be to provide me and most importantly my children with a safe country to live in I have no higher respect for any other person above those that make USA a safe place for the rest of us to live daily in world that your life would be hard to even comprehend. I want you to know this is what I think of each and every component that is an active force in the process. My son's father was a Marine, until injured and unable to safely be a member (sadly). My son's fathers brother, I love him dearly, entered during war time and I believe he is army. He is over sea's at this time. At first I begged him please do not do this, it is war time, and you will face safety issues concerning your life. He said to me, he is going to be sure that his nephew (my son, who holds his uncle as his greatest hero/role model) is safe here at home. How could I argue with that statement. I understand completely because I went to school to become a nurse, and have always felt the urge/need to end suffering or diminish the suffering a person must face in their life. However, there are small risks in my profession, but not so much my life. I am currently in eligibile: being referred to selecting officer, if an interview is needed I will be called. I applied for nursing positions for the military at the VA and thought, never its a pipe dream, everyone wants that job. I then came to get an email with that reply. I know it could mean nothing, but what if it does mean something. I would than be providing the best care I can to those I most admire. I hope that I get to serve all of you. Thank you would never be enough! |
