Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at BAE Systems Information Technology? Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers? What is a typical day in the life of an employee at BAE Systems Information Technology? |

Culture will vary from location to location. At Minneapolis I have been an employee and a 2X contractor. I have been laid off twice in the last 8 years so job security can be weird, but that is not so unusual for the defense industry. The people here are pretty friendly, but it takes time to get to know them. Contractors are treated pretty well but are restricted from many things making work a little limiting. Communication is the toughest thing to deal with - you have to establish a working relationship with people you deal with otherwise they won't do much for you. This can take some time but the more people you know the safer your job will be. Things have gotten more down to work lately so there aren't a lot of employee functions or training. You have to swim a lot. That's not always a bad thing though - it's just frustrating if you are relatively new. If you are looking for a touchy-feely family oriented place to work, this is not it. Frankly, this is one of the best places I have ever worked - I just wish I could feel like I had more security though. |
