MH in Hillsboro, Oregon said: If you currently work at BofA, call the HR department and ask them! The salary ranges for a job description are not confidential. The salaries of individuals are. Actually this is not accurate. I just read this post and decided to call bureaucracy central (associate services) to ask about a certain pay scale as you suggest. I went through the system and talked to a payroll associate, asked about general salary ranges and was told that this info is only disclosed by recruiters and hiring managers and that there is often negotiation that takes place that can affect the salary amount. |

MH in Hillsboro, Oregon 57 months ago |
To Mortgageadmin - am sorry to see that the environment has changed. I used to have this info available from local HR with no issue. Maybe it was because trying to figure out where my single-position tech "weenies" fit into the grand salary scheme was an on-going issue. Personally, I think all salaries should be posted on the bulletin board. If a manager can't explain why his/her employes are being paid differently, then he/she isn't a very good manager. And employees should know what the salary potential in their position is, and what it takes to raise their salary. My sympathies in being in the mortgage admin business right now with the fall-out from the sub-prime and Alt-A loans still happening. Let's hope BofA's exposure is low. Thanks for the feedback. |

sam k in seattle, Washington said: How do you go about meething monthly goals if the bank is extremely slow? Do you have to go search for new clients on your own? Sam - it's much harder to get a new client than to cross-sell to your current base. Examine the sig/account cards (do they still have those in the bank?), or the customer's profiles. If they have DDA and card, but no savings or money-market, sell them that. See what a household is missing, and what products/services you have that will fill in the gaps. Good hunting. |

I found mine through Team Bank of America and through the associates' pages on the website. Login into the associates' page and search for "discounts". |

I worked as an Investment Analyst and was laid off with notice, just came to work that day and was told I was being laid-off the same day. It is so true, don't let the "famous name" fool you. Bank of America treats their associate like CRAP. This is random but did you have to pay for parking when you worked for BOA corporate? |
|
Mike Murphy in Long Island, New York 55 months ago |
Bank of America indeed treats it's employees like trash. They devour smaller companies and discard the talent in order to save a couple bucks but what they get in return are associates who do not know the business and work for less. The end result is the company ends up spending more money trying to clean up the mess they created and they lose the clients they purchased in the process. For example BOA recently took over reigns of U.S. Trust, a respected company known for their brand name and talent. After "absorbing" the company they let entire departments go... just like that. They were replaced with individuals from other sectors who did not know what they were doing hence clients started to drop like flies. Those few unfortunates who did not leave have been left hanging on a thread not knowing whether they have a job or not. To boot, associates are making less money, have no incentive, are losing bonuses and will no longer receive their prior company perks like free breakfast/lunch in the buildings dated cafeteria. It is an all around bad work environment and they do not value their talent. If you have the option, by all means steer clear of doing business with this juggernaut of mediocrity for you will get burned one way or the other. You heard it here first! |

Does anyone know anything about the "market manager" position at Bank of America? Specifically in the Bay Area and Northern California. What do you need to qualify as one? How much do you get paid? What position can you be promoted to next? Thanks! |

Salary ranges are not openly available for specific jobs, even to current employees. The ranges are "guidelines", not solid minimums (though hit the top end of the range, and suddenly it's a maximum). |

I am in sales at BOA and I love it. My base is 28600 and yes, I have made much higher starting salaries in other positions, but I bonus 1000-1500/mo and receive childcare reimbursement each month. There is also OT every week. I am tracking $50K now and hope to go over 60K in 2008. The benefits are exceptional and as long as you come in with a positive attitude you will be successful. My management staff is excellent and my office has a truly familial atmosphere. I love coming to work each day and I am looking forward to retiring from this company. By the way, I am 36 and have a BA from a very well known college in VA. They are going to pay for my Masters and work with my schedule. I have 3 children and a husband and I was looking for a company that values my life experience as well as academic and work. I never thought I would become a "company" perso, but I can truly say that I will defend BOA as one of the premier employers in today's uncertain economic times. Just come in with a plan to succeed and you will make the money. |

Fatima - you don't say what kind of manager. I managed a department of 3 people 8 years ago and made over $80,000/year, but it was a highly technical position. A branch manager at the time made on the order of $40,000 - $50,000 / year, and was eligible for bonuses. Basic pay has gone down a bit since then, and the pay level depends on the size of the banking center and the region of the country. It certainly wouldn't hurt to apply for a manager position as long as you have the experience to warrant it. Applying for a position for which you are not qualified just makes everyone unhappy. Good luck. |

BofA is not a very good place to work for if you are not in an executive position. Pay rate when I started part time with 10.00/hr in Quincy, MA. Great benefits package but it's useless for most tellers. BofA like to claim that they care about the tellers but they really don't. They want tellers to make sales, process transactions, act as customer service, be nice, be accurate, be able to multi-task and fast but refuse to pay you for all the work. They'll also make you take days off if you are about to make over-time (which you absolute deserve). I processed over 500 hundred transactions over 5 hours but to the bank it don't mean a thing. Of course that's my experience from where I worked, not sure about other places though. |

The salary figures seem to vary significantly. The perks/benefits must be universal regardless of location. What types of financial products does BofA offer? They always say a "host" of financial services... That means nothing. I have heard they offer mortgages for employees - what makes these different than the standard mortgages? Same for employee credit cards or loans? |
|
MH in Portland, Oregon 48 months ago |
BofA offers just about any kind of financial product you can think of, either through the bank itself or through subsidiaries, like Banc of America Investment Services. It has been several years since I was an employee, but the mortgage for employees at the time included a 1/2% rate discount on the loan plus no points/no fees. There are similar discounts on other employee loans. There also was an interest-only $5,000 or $10,000 loan which is forgiven over 5 years to help with down payment and/or maving costs. Used to also be stock grants to all employees if the bank made specific goals - unknown if that still happens. Hope this helps. Benefits are very good. |

Fatima Sunderland in delanson, New York said: yes, i did. I know about PMP. I ask for BofA if realy is necessary to take that. Fatima - If the job requirement says that BofA requires PMP, then, yes, it is required for that job. If you don't have something that the job description says is required, there's a good chance that you will not be considered for the job. If it says that it is "desired" then you may be considered based on how well you fit other requirements. My apologies if this seems harsh, but it looks like you need to work on your English as well. You need to be able to read, speak and, especially, write English well. Good luck. |

You have every right to ask about how compensation is calculated, including what is the potential maximum bonus you can earn relative to your base salary, If you get the right recruiter they will tell you over the phone doing the phone interview depending on the position you are going for. |

Can someone help me get an address or telephone number? I was vested in Security Pacific's pension plan when I left after 13 years there. Then BofA bought SPNB. I stopped hearing from the BankAmerica Pension Plan 5 years ago and now I can't find a way to contact them to say I am ready to retire! I had an 800 number in Fort Lee NJ but it no longer works and I cannot find a number for Employee Benefits anywhere on the internet. And there is no BofA branch where I live. Anybody got a number or address I can use to get back in touch with BAC's employee benefits??Thanks! |

Incidentally, I also was with SPNB, and Oregon Bank before that, so made it through 2 major mergers. One note about taking benefits - I found that it worked out substantially better for me to take all the money out of the BofA plan and invest it independently instead of taking an annuity from BofA. Remember that the BofA annuity does not increase with inflation. MH |

Veronica L in Oakland, California said: It really does depend on what you do. For example a customer service rep I (call center-prime/model) makes about 12.30hour, but if you work an evening shift you get a 10% pay differential, if you speak another language fluently (with professionalism) add another 10% on top of that. Customer service rep II makes about 16 to 17 an hour (like the cd/ira dept and online banking), some customer service repII positions pay only 13-14 an hour. Hey Veronica! I've been with Boa for six years and I still make less than my peers. I'm looking to go into Customer Service department, do you think I should try a different bank or stick it out here?? I really need to make more money (21.62 would be great! ) but the bank is making so many cuts and they are't really making me feel like a valued senior employee. Thanx. |
