There is NO starting salary, or salary at all, NO benefits, (which is brilliant for an insurance company) and NO travel compensation, or any other compensation for that matter. You can expect travel requirements to span up to 4 hours per day (2 hours either way) on some days. They offer bonuses if you make more than about 8,000 in a quarter. It's a bit lower if you're just starting, and you can expect to pay the company $125 every month. $100 for your leads, and $25 for insurance in case you get sued.

You will have to pay for your own $100 insurance exam test and then go through about 3 days of training that they also don't pay you for.

After about a year and a half I finally wised up and quit, and 6 months later they sent me a statement saying I owed them $422 because somebody canceled a policy after I'd quit and they wanted the money back that they paid me. Of course I had $1000 worth of business pending that they refused to pay me for because I resigned, and they kept that.

Unfortunately, the information posted above is incorrect for the most part. It is a 1099 commission based job, however most branches do pay for your prelicensing courses and you will be reimbursed for your state licenses if you sell a certain number of policies. Also the will pay you 100 per month for insurance if you hit a very low number of sales. And finally the bonus starts at 5K for new agents. You get a 5% bonus for hitting 5K in a quarter. This bonus goes up geometrically to a maximum for 95% bonus on 35K in sales. That's a 30K bonus check. That is 65K bucks for a three month period. How sweet is that?

Oh yeah, the DOI requires the Errors and Ommissions insurance which they do take out of your pay. There is a paid lead program in some branches but you are NOT required to participate and Bankers pays half the cost for those leads. The best thing I like about it is I make quite a bit of money. And I am getting my brokers license which Bankers is also paying for.
