I'm interested in working for BB&T but have been told they only will hire through a temp agency. Just wondering if this is just a cost saving technique or do they actually offer qualifed temps permanent posistions? Part or full time with benefits? And how long did it take to be made permanent? I would appreciate anyone's feedback on their experience. Thanks! |

Not sure who told you that, i appiled for the part time teller position directly through the BB&T website not a temp agency and I was hired. to answer your question "part time floating tellers" do not get any benefits but they do get a 20% pay premium, so i was making 13 dollars an hour. regular part/full time employees do get benefits. Try seeing if there are any openings on their website in Wilmington and apply that way. After 6 months you can qualify for a promotion anonymous in Wilmington, North Carolina said: I'm interested in working for BB&T but have been told they only will hire through a temp agency. I did go directly through their website and was told by the hiring person they only hire temps. Guess this is only true in the Wilmington area, as I have never seen a permanet postion listed. Is the six month wait for a promotion standard BB&T policy? I know other major banks here require you to hold a position for 6 months before you can apply for a better position. |

I worked with BB&T as a teller in Greenville for 2.5 years while I was in school. I was hired through BB&T but I was paid by a temp agency. They will tell you that you will be promoted within 6 months but it can be longer. I was hired permanently after a year. |

You may also be a 'payrolled' temp where you are on the payroll of a temp service, but BB&T screens and interviews you. You will only be temp for about 90 days and then they will convert you to a regular employee with benefits. |

If you have been unsuccessful through their website, try to find out if they hire through a temp agency in your area and apply with the agency. The down side to doing it through the agency are your are not a BB&T employee, so no benefits until they give you a permanent position. According to the responses above, the length of time this could take seems to vary. I applied through their website and was offered a job the same day I interviewed but turned it down. It was full time temp and I was told there was a hiring freeze in my area, therefore I was concerned how long it might be to be made permanent. If you are not conerned about benefits this might be a way to get your foot in the door. Good luck. |
