Every business has it's own style. What is the office environment and culture like at Blue Cross Blue Shield?

Are people dressed in business casual, jeans and t-shirts, or full-on suits? Do folks get together for Friday happy hours and friendly get-togethers?

What is a typical day in the life of an employee at Blue Cross Blue Shield?

It really depends on different deparments. Some are very professional and friendly where people tend to have good work ethics and therefore creat positive working enviroment; others (Finance-AR,Overpayemnt Recovery) unfortunately appear to be totally opposite where office politics are heavily played on a regular basis and people's work are rarely appreciated. Mismanagement and formation of cliques tend to occur in this kind of enviroment. People are let go because the management abuses their power to eliminate people they dislike. Sometimes contractors who are not supposed to participate in decision making pertaining HR related matters also played an very important role. However, instances like these will never raise concern to Corporate Ethics or HR. The culture in those departments are full of unfairness, depression, low productivity and hostile atmosphere. BCBSFL is in great needs of lots of public scrutiny and capable management to do right things and do things right.

That was very informative information. Are their certain cliques regarding your interview or after your interview do you think HR gives you a fair chance regarding employment?

I worked at BCBSFL for 9 years...moved up with a couple promotions. Then came the all mighty AGENCY WORKER or CONTRACTOR who HR made into an icon. Soon certain departments were snuffed away...only to be replaced with these agency workers. Now you could forget about posting for a higher position. They didn't have to pay benefits to these other "outside" workers...where is the payoff for being dedicated now? Seems there isn't any.
