Hmmm, he had those done on June 3rd (over 2 wks ago) within the required 2-days from receiving his job offer period. He doesn't have the name or contact information for a GS rep... what now? : /

Positive news... our dining room was painted today!

When you log into the Boeing Staffing site, it should have a name and phone number for the contact person at Boeing you can call. It's at the bottom of the screen.

My dh seems to be the exception to the rule. When he logs onto the Boeing site ---> My Account ---> Log in ---> My Job Status ---> There is only the general Total Access contact info at the bottom of the page, no global staffing info.

Today we were able to obtain his GS rep's name & contact info from a Boeing background check person who's email we did have and have been asked to give GS until the end of the week to contact my dh.

It will happen, eventually. We're grateful for the time to get our house ready to sell, but would like to have some certainty about his position.

Thanks for responding : )

Yay Denise! Glad to hear it cleared. Does his drug check show "complete" online when you log into his account? And I had a person who emailed and called me to let me know that I was offered a job and I think she was called a staff specialist. He should call the person who offered the job.
I had concern on my background check too. I had listed a DUI from my college days but they only checked back 7 years so for anyone reading this, It only went back 7 years on my check. It did say "applicant supplied info not found on this check so not listed" I got a copy of it in the mail soon after it cleared.
If he has a job offer you should be able to log in online to get the info for your staffing specialist.

Nope : /
The only thing we see on the Boeing site are the jobs that he's currently under consideration for. He didn't receive an email prior to his job offer arriving by fed-ex either...after his phone interview the offer just showed up. It makes me wonder what's up with his GS rep. Now that we do have her name, I google her & found that her title is administrative assistant & she's located in Long Beach, Ca not WA. It's been hard for us to have none of the online & email progress indicators that many of you have had. Still things are moving forward. It's just been hard to make plans or have peace of mind.

Yesterday i recieved a letter in the mail via fedex stating that my background check has raised concerns for my suitability of being hired. The only thing i have on my record is a dui which i did not disclose due to the fact that the application stated i didn't need to list any charges that i took pretrial classes for. Unfortunately i misunderstood this and did not disclose it being that i took pre trial classes for it. The letter also states that i am to contact boeing security background screening which i did and haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think that this means they will select another applicant indeffinately or do i still have a shot at getting hired?

Hi, how did you case resolve? I hope it was for the best. Please keep us informed.

I've read all the comments, but so far have not read anything that helps with my situation. I've cleared everything but the background, and today I got the dreaded fedex package telling me my background was flagged for concerns. I have 2 misdemeanors one over 4 years ago for alcohol intoxication in a public place (it was my backyard). The other for shoplifting over 5 years ago (biggest mistake of my life and I will always regret it). I've listed everything including my traffic tickets on my application. All the posts said if you list everything, you will be fine, so of course I am worried what Boeing security background screening is going to say. It would be so devastating for my offer to be withdrawn when they saw these things in my application, and didn't have to make me an offer. I've read every thread here and no one has mentioned experiences like this. Does anyone have any idea ??? I am looking at my report the part about disclosure says cleared.

When you have a criminal record, disclosing it does not guarantee you the clearance of the background check. Not disclosing it, on the other hand, guarantees you that your background check will not clear.
My offer was withdrew because I failed to disclose a misdemeanor (Negligent driving). However I know a man whose offer was withdrew because they simply did not like to hire somebody with his criminal record. It was a Marijuana possession charge from when he was 18 year old.
I hope things will work out with you.

Thanks for input. Do you know how long it will take for them to call me after I call them and leave a message ? Will they give me a chance to explain the circumstances ? how long would it take for them to contact me if they were to rescind the offer ? this would be awful news, but I do have other offers from other companies I have foregone for Boeing, and obviously would need to make new plans ASAP.

In my case it took 1 day. They called me back the very next day. Once they call you back it is only to notify you of the decision. Your chance of explaining yourself is solely in the voice message you'll leave; make sure you say everything you want to. Be very friendly. If they rescind the offer, they will notify you when they call you back. This is my unfortunate experience.
In my case, I cannot apply back for 18 months, as a result of the bad moral character of not disclosing my criminal record. If your offer is withdrew (which i hope is not) this will not be the case for you. You can theoretically apply the very next day. Obviously I would suggest expunging or sealing at least one of your charges before reapplying.

Oh no ... I didn't explain anything, b/c I didn't know they were expecting me to explain over the phone. I just left my name and phone number. Should I call them again, even though the letter said to leave only one message ??? Funny thing I tried expunging my record before beginning this whole process with Boeing several months ago. I called the very lawyer who represented me in court, and he told me who could not find any records on my case. Fortunately I ran a background check on myself prior to applying with Boeing. I do not know whether I can get it expunged since I went through diversion, and it was dismissed. Everyone who knows me knows it was so out of character for me. Hard lesson to learn, and I guess, will have to keep learning ...

I would just be honest, I'd leave another message for the investigation folks to call you back...I'd also email your concerns to your hiring manager.
I did the above after I received the dreaded fedex package too.

The investigation folks were really nice, listened to my side of the story, ended the conversation..........15 mins later they called back & told me that I had cleared.

Just be brutally honest to these folks & you should be fine! :)

Good luck and let us know how you fared.

Thank you so much for that reply. It's been 2 days and I still have not received a call from them, but at least I have not received a rejection letter, either. so something still to be hopeful about. I don't have a hiring manager since it is a hub requisition, but I did finally email my global staffing rep, and she said that although she didn't know exactly what details they wanted since they don't pass that information between departments, she did say she would call them, and said it hoped it would help. I am glad you said they were nice, because others have said they are accusatory, and that is making me so nervous. since it's been a couple days now, my nerves have calmed somewhat, but it's heartwrenching checking mail every half hour for an email that would rescind the offer, and waiting for the phone to ring. do they just ask me to go through the details/circumstances of the incidents from beginning to end? how long did it take for them finally to get back to you? again, thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience! best regards!

For anyone who was interested in the outcome. Someone from Boeing Security finally called today. My offer was withdrawn. It was not a matter of disclosure, nor did they really seemed all that concerned about the actual misdemeanors. It was that it happened within the 7 year time frame (however, make sure you list everything, even past 7-10 years), even though the job doesn't require a security clearance. They didn't care about the AI but the shoplifting. If I had it expunged and sealed then Boeing Security said it would have been no issue. So in my case I can reapply as soon as I seal that record, so for me, it's a matter of waiting for that Requisition or a similar one to come up again, and ace the STAR behavioral questions again, etc ... hope this helps someone so that they aren't stuck with a withdrawal because of unfiled legal paperwork like in my case.

I'm sorry to hear that. After my offer was withdrew, it was very simple to seal my record. My attorney showed the judge that the reason why I wanted to get it sealed is because I was refused employment. The prosecutor had no objections what so ever. Best of luck with you future

hey, i'm the recent Louisville person who had the posts about the 2 misdemeanors and expungement, even though i am currently in CT, interviewing with UTC (Pratt & Whitney engine design) ... anyway, Sleepless, get a copy of your background report from Verifications, Inc. or the one Boeing Security fedexed you. Go hire a lawyer and show him your recent background report. He will know how to obtain an expungement in your state. good luck. my last post was last week, and mine's already been signed by the judge - the whole thing took 3 days to get ordered, though it takes a couple months for the actual records to be expunged from the various agencies, so it can be an efficient process. my mistake was not knowing exactly how to begin. hope this helps.

Should I leave an explanation on the message when I call Boeing Security? Some people say to others say that a Boeing Investigator calls you back. What are people's experiences? Do they call you back just to tell you the offer is withdrawn? Or do they call you back to get your side of the story?

I have accepted offer about a month ago. All contingencies are cleared except background check. I disclosed DUI from 2003. I didn't even think of a DUI that I had in 1996. it was so long ago. I am running out of nails to bite... I hope this doesn't come back to bite me in the ass! How long after accepting offer did you guys get the dreaded fedX letter? I got a call about the DUI from Verifications Inc. asking what city about three weeks ago. I have not heard anything again since. I called them about a week and a half ago and they said they were waiting for criminal record and they were at the mercy of the courts. I emailed employment specialist last week and she replied that Boeing security will be reviewing background check. It was kind of unclear if they got the background check from Verifications Inc. and were in the process of reviewing it, or if they were waiting for it and then going to review it. I emailed employment specialist agin yesterday and haven't heard back yet.
Any words of encouragement wlll be appreciated!

Hi Ski Guy!
I do not think you have anything to worry about. I accepted an offer June 2011 and I had 3 DUI's but they were all from more than 10 years ago. I disclosed all of them and they still called me and asked for the cities. I figured out why after I got a copy of my background check. On the criminal part they listed that I had disclosed the offenses but none had shown up on the report. They only went back 7 years. I had heard that they went back way more than that but there it was right on my printed report that they went back 7 years only. So I was so worried that whole time waiting...until they finally said OK you are officially complete and hired! So your DUI is more than 7 years plus you did disclose it. So all must be good. THey are hiring LOTS of people right now so it is just slow to go through the process. Good luck!

Hi, monchichi

I am in a simular situtation as others: received the fedex this past saturday. I disclosed that I was terminated from 2 jobs in the last 7 years. One job I was given a 6 month severance package. I have been on the fence as to call this a termination or a layoff. The background check did not show info as to why I had left. The other concern I have was I declared I had a dui back in 1986. I have no records to prove this happend and when I callled the court they said they have purrged all records before 1989. All three of these were flagged as being a concern but there was no verification of the info I provided in the back ground check. what is your advice?

I would just be honest. Since I have worked here at Boeing, I have seen lots of people get hired with dings on their record but all of them have been forthcoming. I did tell them about my DUIs even though they did not show on my background check. I think they did "look" at that but saw that it was more than 10 years back and that I did disclose it. As far as your job with the 6 month termination package, I would not call that being fired. I would just say that you guys mutually agreed to end the position and it shows that it was not a bad thing since you got a termination package. I was so nervous everytime i talked to the background check people but each time they were professional and looking back....i am glad I was honest and just told them the deal. Good luck!

Thanks Monchochi15,

I did have another question thought: Do I wait for them to call or should I call and if I am offered to leave a message should I explain the three concerns they have on the background check. Or should I wait to see if they call me and ask info about that?

What is your advice?

No, have not been asked to call back yet. I am also at odds with tring to provide exact info on the ticket. I don't remember which city in PHX I got the ticket in. Today I went down to dmv and they only can pull records going back 10 years. I called the phx city court and they purged there records anything earlier then 1989. I can pin point between 1985 thru 1987 I received a dui but do not know the date or what court it was from. I did disclose this on the application but just mentioned I did not know what the exact date was. I always thought court records would always be there and if I needed to know I could just request a copy.

I recently received my all clear, report for work email. I had a DWI 20 years ago. I had a Neg 3 years ago which I did verify on my application. I received a call from Verification asking me to sign paperwork so they could contact employers and another of my employers had gone out of business. I just sent them my W2s from 2005 through 2011 to verify I worked at the jobs stated on my app. That's all they needed. I was probably off a month or 2 on start and end dates for my past jobs. One of my jobs was a reduction in force and I received a severence package. As long as you are honest on what you have done the last 7 to 10 years you should be good. The background check took 4 days for clearance. Hope this helps

Hey guys a few questions I have after following these threads. I have an upcoming interview and have already submitted the full online application saying i have not been convicted. i have had an acd in the last seven years and a sealed record from about 10 years ago. I know that the acd is not considered a conviction but wondering if the VI company will be able to see the sealed record. If so, is there any way I can disclose this information before I receive an offer so as to avoid the dreaded fed-ex letter? I was specifically told by my attorney that since the record is sealed (and youthful offender status) it is valid to say that I have never been convicted of a crime. Thanks.

Good question.

"ACD stands for 'Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal'.
It is not an admission of guilt, nor is it an affirmation of
innocence. It means essentially that if you don't get
arrested for 6 months, the District Attorney will dismiss the
charges against you, and the case record will be sealed."

I honestly don't remember the full app asking about "convictions". I do remember it asking for misdemeanors and/or felonies...

I think the bigger question would be -- is an asd considered a misdemeanor? And if you did not disclose it, it could be a problem.

The one that was more than 10 years ago might be ok.

Has anyone been hired after the background check showed you lied about your degree. Even tho the job did not require one. I was six credits short of my degree I dropped out of school in the early 90's when I found out I was HIV Poz. No need to finish if you'll be dead in ten years but meds came along and I'm still here rather than have to exsplaing why I didn't not finish my degree I just put finished I didn't think it would matter, the job did not require one. And I new that if I explained why I didn't finish at the interview I probable would not get the job. Boeing found out. I tried to , but the guy on the phone was very rude. He interrupted me several times. And than said I lied so they withdrew the offer, the funny thing is, this is the same job and plant that I work in 1998. I think they found out about my HIV by my answering the medical questions and putting down what meds I'm taking. They can't discriminate since HIV in a disability, they found anther excuses not to hire me. Ya what a compassionate company lets kick a guy when he is already down.

Has anyone other than California applicants had an offer withdrawn for not disclosing violations, sealed records, youthful offender adjudications, discharges, or any other non-convictions/non-crimes?

I've had a disorderly conduct VIOLATION in NY state but Boeing seems to be defining disorderly conduct as a crime (which they further define as a misdemeanor or felony). In order to truthfully answer the question "have i ever been convicted of a crime" I would say NO because I've only had a VIOLATION/YOUTHFUL OFFENDER ADJUDICATION/DISCHARGE. Yet in order to disclose ANY criminal history I have to answer YES so that the explanation fields are open for editing. Called the Boeing hotline about this and waiting to hear back...amazing how their application is worded/configured so poorly and seems to be tricking applicants into disclosing thing they legally do not have to for a job application...

Be exact with your information this time,
it's "not" just about your past, it's more about your Integrity moving forward..

get a lawyer and get it expunged as soon as possible, though it being a year old it may be too soon - some states have a mandatory period of time before it can be expunged. if you are young, learn from your mistake and stay out of trouble with the law for the rest of your life. in terms of a criminal history, you can't afford to have anything more, particularly if you are trying for a professional career because the competition is only getting stiffer in our economic environment.

Hey IAMDESPERATE - You cannot change what you have done so all you can do now is to tell the truth when you fill out the application. If you did not disclose it, then all you can do is what til you get a job offer then call the security firm and tell them you need to add it to your application. There are people here at Boeing who have done some stupid things and have disclosed them and still gotten hired. But after reading this forum for a while, I have not heard of ONE person who has lied on the application and not gotten called on it and then not hired due to honesty concerns. I had DUI's and just fessed up and put them down. The security people asked me about it and I was honest and they still passed my background check. These are GOOD jobs and alot of people want them....just be honest and you might get hired.

Well done! what you said is exactly right on, The (OPM) Office of Personnel Management does the back ground checks for "Secret Clearances" for Govt positions of security.

The most important aspect of your check is not only your background but just as important is how your living your life moving forward, my point is this, be honest and you can't go wrong. The OPM finds that you we're honest about your past, they can take your word going forward, if your not honest about your past, then you've learned nothing.

Like you, I had some fun and did some simple stupid things when I was younger,I moved on and acted like a man and have been a very responsible citizen ever since. I was honest about my past, and received my green light and was sworn into Federal service.

Good Post!

I was recently denied a position with Boeing through a contracting office after the background check. I was honest with my answers, but received an email saying:

"Your application for employment with ... at The Boeing Company is currently under review for disqualifying information appearing in your background report."

The contracting company would not give me the number to Boeing Security to address this. Does anyone have a number I can call to dispute/explain my circumstances?

Thanks.

Can I ask you what you did that they are disqualifying you. I did something that I am not proud of but I thought if you are truthful then that is Ok. I have not gotten an interview ad yey so im not as far in the process yet. Please let me know because I am concerned if I have a cjance. Also did you find the number and get to explain yourself. Im hoping they let you in and it was just an oversite on their part.

I just was interviewed by phone by job service and took the online assessment. My job status says Successful Pass-Waiting for PET, does anyone knows what that means? And the other thing, I had a Child Neglect charge pending when I first applied for the position and now all charges have been dropped. Since the application asked for convictions I did not put the pending case on my application. Will this disqualify me for any open positions?
