Hi my name is Angela and I applied for a job at Boeing in April 2010. I am still under consideration for this job. I live in St. Louis, MO and the job is in Everett, WA. Does being under consideration for so longer mean that I will not get the job. Does Boeing offer any reloation packages for new employee.

Any help will be appreciated.

May I know whether you were invited to have telephone/ on-site interview before? Otherwise, you must know the contact person of the HR department (who is going arrange the interview).

I'm finding out it is a long process. I also applied for a job in April at the Renton facility and did not hear a word until recently. Last week I received another auto-generated e-mail that said "Congratulations! You are currently under consideration for one or more positions at The Boeing Company. Before proceeding further, you are required to fully complete a Boeing online Employment Application"

So I completed the official application online and am waiting for what comes next.

It can be frustrating because there is no one to call until you get direct contact with a hiring manager.

Just remember this is a huge company and there could be hundreds of applicants per position so it takes longer than the average company. Don't give up hope yet :)

Good luck

I forgot to mention - If you look at each job description towards the top there is a section that states whether or not relocation money is available.

BCAengineer in California said: As someone who has experienced the process externally and internally, it can be a long process but I have seen both ends of the spectrum. Based on my experience (speculative), if you are still "under consideration" for more than a couple months, it probably means that all the interviews have taken place, someone has been given an offer, and HR is waiting for the candidate to accept/reject the offer. I think once that candidate officially starts his/her first day, then all other candidates will have their status changed to "no longer under consideration". If that candidate rejects the offer, the hiring manager can either go back through the pool and re-interview selected candidates or close the current requisition and post a new one.

After submitting an application, though, I was typically called or emailed within 1-2 weeks to setup an interview. Since there isn't anyone to contact after you submit your application, you are hostage to how ever long HR takes to process everything. And considering this economy, any one external job posting can attract at the very least several hundred resumes so don't expect a speedy process. But make sure what the requirements are on the posting like any clearances or available relocation because your resume may be rejected during the initial screening. I think relocation packages have decreased somewhat because the company is trying to limit expenses. I could be wrong but it seems like packages are available to critical-need positions (i.e. Level 4/5/6) or some HUB requisitions.

I was thinking that was the case. It seemed pretty odd to be under consideration for so long and not hear anything. Thanks for the comment. I will continue to apply at other places.

When you say 1 - 2 weeks, does that mean from when you submitted your resume, or from when the job posting closed?

I finally got an e-mail to schedule an interview. Here is my timeline but I know every position is different depending on the pool.

3 months after closing date - received "congratulations fill out an application" e-mail.
3 weeks after application was submitted I received an e-mail to schedule an interview and now I have a direct contact and phone # in the company.

Congrats Nicole! Someone else on this forum finally made it through to an interview. Good luck and please let us in on how it went.

For me it has been a couple years but when I applied externally it probably took about 2 months to get the email about filling out an application then another week or so for someone from the hiring department to contact me to set up an interview date.

I applied for a manufacturing position ,in Everett, that closed, in April 2010. I received the "congratulations" e-mail after two months, in June. I sent the online application and I didn't hear nothing from them since.
It's been almost nine weeks. What confuses me is the fact that I'm still under consideration for this job and for many others that were closed earlier than this and seems that the hiring for the manufacturing positions is frozen or something. What do you guys think ?
Did somebody experience the same situation ?

Thank you for any insight !

I interviewed by phone for an employee development specialist job in SC on the 14th of October, 2 weeks later got an email saying congratulations, we need you to fill out an on line application before we can proceed furthar. that was complete on the 27th of October. how long might it take to hear back on anything. This really is a nerve racking process.

To sdny03

I applied for a position which I have 24 years of experience. I was interviewed about 2 weeks after I applied, then 2 days later got the automated e-mail "congratulations...under consideration...fill out employment application". Two days after I filled my application, my status change to no longer considered. Then followed by the position has been filled.

When the hiring mgr told me that he have more applicants to interview and he will notify all the candidates of the results in 2 weeks, I knew then and there that I just wasted my time. The job requires specialized training which I have. I suspect that most of the job positions being advertised by Boeing has been filled internally or Boeing employees already hooked-up their friends and families for the job (experienced or not). Unfortunately, we are suckered in to this game. Of course, Boeing and any other employer doesn't care wasting other job seekers time as long as they can present the equal opportunity employment image. To me it is BS to give people false hope, and what is even aggravating is making you wait for NOTHING!

Goodluck...do not keep your hopes to high.

I’m really not sure how to respond, but I am still under consideration for the position and have been in touch with the manager on a few occasions and it all seems to be going in a good direction. She even said congratulations a couple times in the emails and is helping coordinate a move date for us and report date. I really don't understand, but I am keeping an optimistic mind set until. Thanks for the responses though.

Sorry but I have to disagree with hopeless in Seattle and Sherman. I was just hired from the outside without having any friends or family refer me. They also told me they would continue to interview other applicants and finally made the decision to pick me 3 weeks later. I was told I got the job because of my years experience in the field and because i interviewed really well. I studied the star behavioral questions and wrote out all my answers beforehand so I could be prepared for all scenarios.

At orientation I ran into several others that were hired from the outside as well. Now is a good time to get in at Boeing. Just remember each position has hundreds of applicants and to get tge job you need to stand out in the interview.

Don't give up and keep applying. The job I got was the 5th one I applied for.

Sherman...why would you want to work for Boeing...because ITS A GREAT COMPANY!!! If you get a job there you will know what I mean. The potential, continuing education, benefits, GREAT PEOPLE, on and on.

I applied for 60 to 70 jobs since July, and got one call to come in for an interview. I interviewed and it took 5 weeks to get an offer. It came via e-mail. I countered their offer and am waiting to hear.

So DON'T give up trying...Boeing is worth the wait...believe me!

Unfortunatly that's how it is with a company so large. The standard from the time you apply for a boeing job to the actual start date is usually 3-4 months. Remember there are probably over 1000 applicants for one position and it takes human resources time to weed out interview applicants. The fastest way they have found to get through the process is the automated e-mail system. Yes it is impersonal but more efficient. Once you make it past the rounds you will be contacted by an actual hiring manager. This is the process for all boeing positions. Patience and persistance is key. If you do not feel it's worth it to wait or the pay doesnt suit your needs then simply don't apply. Put your focus elsewhere.

Hopeless in Seattle - do a google search for the S.t.a.r. Or behavioral interview method. This is what Boeing uses. All interview answers must be given in star format. There are several example questions online studying these really helped me prepare.

Well I applied for a position back in July, finally got called for an interview in Nov.12, that same day after the interview was given a contingent job offer. At that time, I went to their computers and signed in and filled out all the forms, electonically signed and other paperwork they would have normally sent out by mail. I believe this is a new process they are doing in Everett. I then took my drug screening and eye exam and faxed those over to Boeing, then periodically check my contingency status whether they were all completed or cleared. Finally on the 22nd, all the contingincys all showed clear or completed. So right now I am waiting for my appointment for the Pre-employment Processing and Orientation. From my interview, I asked around what time frame they would be bringing on the new hires aboard he they were looking around early December. The position I got was for an Inspector Modification B . Anyhow for those who have been waiting for a long time, don't give up as I hadn't heard from them for over 3 months and had that ' under consideration ' status for the longest time. Just hang in there!

Start applying for the Manufacturing Planner jobs, especially the 1 and 2's if you have never done it before. They send you to a 6 week school for 787 Planners. Do a little research what one does, and if you have ANY experience make sure you tailor your resume towards it...that's VERY IMPORTANT! Keep trying...Boeing is a GREAT company to work for. RR

Keep on trying Milo. I didn't hear from them until 3 months after I applied to one of the positions and that's when I was called for an interview and then was offered a contingent job offer. After I clear all the background and medical and drug screen testing, I had to call the Staff Specialist to follow-up on my status, and only today did I get a schedule for my Pre-Employment Processing and Orientation and official start date which will be next friday the 10th. So hang in there and keep on hacking!

I talked to some applicants that day who were interviewing for Mechanic's Position and as far as I know, some were offered contingent job offers that same day. I did not have a 2nd interview and didnt know there was one. When did you apply? Keep in mind... there were a lot of mechanic openings and Boeing has a long process so as long as your status shows 'under consideration' then either follow it up with the number listed when you sign in to a Staff Specialist. I know that Boeing is still going through it's pool of applicants for the mechanics and they are filling them in slowly and will be taking them in before the shutdown and also when the new year starts. So just just hang in there and good luck to you.

RR- My background check took almost 2 weeks. I was checking on the status online until last friday I showed it went from pending to cleared. They did not give me a copy of the background. As far as my work history, my last job was all I needed to put since I was there for 17 years. I did have to call the Global Staff person to follow up just to when I'd get a schedule or an idea for the PEP and Orientation. I was given a choice of starting either the 10th or 17th. So I took the 10th and as my official 1st day of work, but before that, on the 7th I have to go to their office in Seattle for a hearing test and to take picture for my badg
