I've been trying to get a job with the boeing company for a sometime (8 months) but to no avail. A buddy of mine works there and was helping me with my resume. I polished it up enough to where i thought an interview was inevitable. Unfortunatley, nothing has happend. i am constantly "under consideration" but never make the cut. I know you have to implement the keywords into your resume for each job posting. i was hoping that someone familiar with this could take a look at my resume and help me out. it would be greatly appreciated. |

I honestly don't think you need to know somebody. You just have to have a good resume. Also, just know that it is a long process. Don't give up, keep trying. Now is a good time to ge in. They are hiring now, as it is getting busy! So keep trying! |

True... But if you want to work for Boeing, then you have to do it their way. It starts with the right resume. It's a big company. They probably get 5000 resumes a day. |

Getting a job with Boeing has absolutely nothing to do with knowing someone there. Now I am not saying that a longtime employee can't get his kid on there, cause we all know that happens everywhere.
My status showed "under consideration" for all of them (8 total) for a few weeks, then I spoke with a retired Human Resources exectutive at a Fortune 500 company and he told me that I needed to do a better job of incorporating the right keywords into each resume submission. I needed to write down each word that Boeing put in the competencies description and put them into my experience section. Boeing uses software that automatically eliminates resumes that do not include enough of the keywords they are seeking for each position, so the only resumes seen by human eyes are those that incorporated enough keywords. Getting your resume thru the software screening is the biggest hurdle.

Yup, I agree... Knowing somebody won't help. It's all automated now. They don't even accept hard copy resumes anymore. It is what it is. People that don't understand Boeing and how Boeing operates may think its like a lottery to get a job there- well, that's just not true. Once they pick your resume, you still have to pass the interview. I worked there 12 years ago- then quit to stay home with my newborn... A few years ago I tried to get called back. I did get an interview, but did not pass. No job offer. Then a year or so later, I got another interview, this time I passed it and did receive an offer. But I messed up on my application - going too fast from excitement, I did not disclose a DUI. Offer withdrawn. Now I have an interview coming up this Thurs, and I feel better prepared than ever. I know now the process, and I made SURE to disclose my DUI... Even though I would be a rehire, I also know there is no guarantee. It starts with a good resume, and then a good interview. I don't know anybody there... -- I do know a few folks that work there but they are not hiring managers, and there is no way they can help. It's a big company. --on a side note, when I did work there I always found it down right comical when somebody that didn't work there would say something like, "oh, you work at Boeing? I know somebody that works there. Do you know xxxxx" A big company. It's like saying that you live in Seattle, aask ding asked if you know xxxxx! Funny. Back to topic: knowing somebody there does NOT help you get in. |

You should try it many different ways. Study Boeing. Figure out what they are big on. Each job req has many different requirements. You can have many resumes in your account. Pick and choose the ones you want to use for each different job. Apply to a lot of jobs. Keep applying. Be patient - it takes at least six months to get anything going. |

I'm a newly graduate from UCO in Oklahoma with International Business/ Finance. I'm applying for Business Planning and Analyst 1/2 with Boeing in Oklahoma. This is the second time I applied for this job as the 1st position of Business Planning and Analyst 1 was cancelled. I graduated with Cum Laude, and have written a several research works for Federation of Business Discipline Conference with some of my professors. I did all I could and asked for help from a couple Boeing employees that I know to polish the resume. However, nothing has happened yet, my questions are: How long does Boeing in Oklahoma usually take to make their decision?
Thank you so much for the help. This is the time I need all the help I can get. |
