I have been applying to jobs in Boeing mainly in Greater Seattle area. I have applied to 7 jobs as yet of which the website shows I am under consideration for 3 of them. Does any one know what under consideration means? Does that mean my resume is being looked at? Or does it mean that the job is still open? Or is it that they have to consider my resume untill the job posting is open. Can any one help please. Thanks in Advance. |

"Under Consideration" means that Global Staffing is in the process of reviewing your application as well as the thousands of other applications. Sometime after the job posting officially closes, candidates that will be offered interviews are selected from the pool of applicants. If you are not one of these candidates your status should change to "No Longer Under Consideration". The length of time you have to wait in order to find out your status varies by location and program. The minimum I've had to wait to hear back about my status was a week and the longest I've heard of was about 3 months after the job posting closed. |

From my own personal experience I have either received an update or have requested an update after two weeks. The length to get an offer varies from location and program. After all the interviews there are a lot of behind-the-scene work before HR approves the release of an offer to a specific candidate. I suggest emailing the manager for an update and at the very least the response will be that the selection process is still in the works. |

Thanks, I took your advice and left a message with the hiring manager. I know some companies have a lengthy process. I'm also waiting for my travel reimbursement as well. |

I've applied for 6 jobs in the last 3 months. Half went from under consideration to no longer under consideration in about a week. I show as still under consideration for the remaining 3 jobs, but it's been over 9 weeks! I'm wondering if I'm actually under consideration or if they've already decided I'm not the one for the job, but won't tell me until they've hired someone else. One weird thing. About two weeks ago I recieved an email congratulating me on being selected for consideration for a specific job and they requested I go online and complete an online application. It was a slightly different application than the general app I originally submitted. I never recieve this type of email for the other jobs, does it mean anything? Thanks for any insight! |

I'm in the same boat as you Kixy1. I've been waiting for an email from Boeing to set up an interview for almost 2 months now. I think that they should make the process a little bit quicker and not "holding-up" everyone. If they've decided the winner, or even some strong potential candidates, they should immediately change the status of everyone else to "no longer under consideration". I need to focus on one thing, either work with Boeing or look for some other company. As for right now, i'm still waiting :( |
|
Kixy1 in Marysville, Washington 42 months ago |
I had lunch with a friend who works at Boeing today. He told me that once you submit your online app, the computer scans it and decides whether you're in or out, depending on if you've got the right experience, keywords, etc. This seems to make sense to me. The two jobs I'm "no longer under consideration" for changed within days of my applying. After that, all us "under-consideration" folks stay that way until someone is hired. He seems to think if you're not called within a couple of weeks of applying, it means your app is "ok", but they're really looking for someone else... Now, they might not find that perfect applicant (I hope!;), but they're going to keep looking. At least until the close date. I was going in with the idea that I would wait for a couple of weeks after the close date, but now I'm not too sure... |

Well, it says on the job description that "if selected for interview, candidates will be notified via email on October/November". I guess they would've email me if i'm selected for an interview since right now is almost the end of November. Good luck to you all! |

Would it be wrong or demanding to re-apply for a position that you were recently No Longer Under Consideration? The thought behind this is that the more resume exposure you express the better chance of re-reviewing..Or would this only cause a negative action? |

In my case, I applied for a job in April 2010 and the job closed at short time in the same month. I was under consideration for two months without receiving anything from them and two days ago they send the "Congratulations" e-mail. I sent the application a couple days ago and waiting for their sign. (If any ?!) Any insight is welcome.

I got an interview of "Financial Specialist" in the early of Jun 2010 in Hong Kong but nothing reply since then (my recruitment status on Boeing website is still "under consideration"). I sent 3 emails to the HR in Beijing office to ask the recruitment status in the past few weeks but they have ever replied me. I found a new recruitment ad. (with similar job title) yesterday and so I believed I was fail to get into another round. |

I applied for a manufacturing position ,in Everett, that closed, in April 2010. I received the "congratulations" e-mail after two months, in June. I sent the online application and I didn't hear nothing from them since.
Thanks for any insight ! |

I am under consideration for several positions and finally got a response on one of them. It took 30 days to get an invite for an interview since my application date. They did not ask me to fill out an online application. |

I applied for industrial engineer position at Boeing and then after 2 weeks I got the "congratulation" email telling me to accept the time and location for a interview to be held in Charleston SC within a week, I accepted the offer then after 3 days i received another email apologizing for the inconvenience for sending the congratulation email and that the congratulation email was not meant for me and I was not invited to the interview.

Hi all. I submitted my resume, was listed as under consideration for the job. Was recently called and set up with a interview for about a week out. After I was set up with a interview, and before the interview has happened, my status changed to "no longer under consideration". What is up with THIS? I am still studying up for my interview which is to take place next week... Any ideas? Thanks. |

It might be an error or it could be such that they have filled the position and haven't gotten around to cancel with you. Best is to call, email or both. |

Well, I did call the person that set me up with the interview... and I am still "very much under consideration" for the job according to Boeing. My interview is still a go for next week, even though I am now listed as not under consideration for the job. So my advice is not to take any status changes from Boeing careers online to heart unnessisarily, not untill you have been notified that you aren't in the running for a job in some other form, ie., telephone call with a real person, email, etc. One thing I have learned now is that it is possible to be set up with a interview while having your status change to no longer under consideration... No worries, at least this time. Hope this helps, and good luck to you all! |

I got a letter after interview saying I will know the result within 3 weeks. After 3 weeks I am still under consideration but no job offer yet. I am very anxious. Do you know how long it could take to change the status from "under consideration" to "no longer under consideration"? As I got in writing I was thinking Boeing will able to make it within three weeks. |

I just went to the site. I look at it yesterday. It says I am under consideration, but it has been at about 3 weeks since I applied. I also have other job locally I applied for, but I heard where I applied is a great place to work for Boeing in Seattle. I hope just because I am in Salt Lake City, Utah, that I won't be offered anything. I am single, never married, and willing to do anything to relocate there. I hear its a very nice place. I rather have rain than snow any day. I do have a cat I would like to take with me, and that is the only thing I would be worrying about if got an offer is how to get him (my cat) safely there. I am sure he would make it, but not sure if he would be sick for a whole week from it. Otherwise, I am all for moving and working in Seattle. I just wish jobs would not make people wait for so long to hear what they have decided. I am going to search the jobs see if there is something else I can try for. The one I am under consideration was the only one that fit my resume in that location at the time. |

My advice is to apply for any position posted by Boeing that you think you may be qualified for. Make sure you incorporate into your online resume keywords that are necessary.
Keep on tailoring your resume to fit the positions applying for. Don't worry about qualifications too much cause if hired Boeing will put you through a 12 week training program to teach you "their" way. It It will take some time(Boeing does not rush) but as long as you put the right words in your resume to fit each position, then you will eventually be called for an interview. My experience has been that if you are still under consideration after 1 month and have not received an interview, then dont count on that position. Apply again |

All I can say is I am not tweaking a resume to wait another 40 years of my life for a company to finally make a decision or do I even have that long to wait? Stupid to me to put in all the effort for a job that does nothing to hire someone. You all can waste your time tweaking then. After a certain amount of time wasted they won't do anything. I been through the tweaking thing before. It does not work. After a certain amount of time waste a normal person would realize they are not going to get the job. It is not like someone in your family dies and you have to mourn forever. Geez, there are other jobs willing to hire. If Boeing is a really good company they would give people a chance not put them off or make them wait. That goes for any company too. These forums talk about ethics and hiring people is part of it. So I say make me wait, then I will move on to another company that can make a difference in my life. Not my loss unless I spend countless hours and days tweaking a resume for a job that does nothing for me. |
|
utahman1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah 4 months ago |
See what is bad about jobs not hiring is they will not say why they won't hire. The reason I could of not heard anything could be I am in Salt Lake City, Utah. They don't want to waste there money on someone if they are that far away or even over seas. Most companies go for locals first and put off the ones living away. I heard good things about Boeing that is why I applied, but if they are not going to show that they care about people, then that is not a company I want to work for. Too many jobs now a days care more about money then their own employees working for them. Just because a company offers certain benefits or offers does not make them good. I maybe saying a lot of truth or not. The fact here is no one lives forever and no one should be treated like it either. |

thing is, they have the time and the money to pick and choose through the people who apply and to take their sweet time. They can afford to take their sweet time with the hiring process |
|
utahman1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah 4 months ago |
Excuse me who is taking their sweet time? Not me I applied not them. So I am waiting on them, not them waiting on me. So get it straight, Bud. That is where people are not smart for because they do not read right. Me waiting over 3 months is them taking their own sweet time. |
|
utahman1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah 4 months ago |
Since, people come to this forum to tell me how to wait on some company and tell me that they are waiting on me. Every single response on this forum going to my email is considered spam since every is for the company taking their time on hiring people. I could be the best person for the job and still have to wait months or years to get it. You tell me I am the one making them wait again you are the one that has no clue. |
|
Allen Toma in Lynnwood, Washington 4 months ago |
... im sitting here talking about BOEING being able to take their sweet time because they can afford it, then you misunderstand me and futhermore continue to sit here and tell me to get it straight and call me "not smart for because they do not read right"? How bout you go through and try to re-read what I had said. if you had read correcty I said that BOEING has the time and money to pick and choose and to take their sweet time, so before you try to attack someone how about you make sure you've read and RE-read through a persons response so you dont sound like an idiot. k thanks, bye. |

I am going to say sorry for the mistake, but the responses are just going to keep coming to make me look more stupid. People in these forums could care less about anyone. This is my very last post. Since, there are no nice people in these forums. I am done with this forum or forums of this site. The help on it is not that good in the first place. Last remark for Boeing. Relying on computers to make a decision whether to give someone an interview is bad. Humans made the computers. I would never of done that. So many people that are qualified are being denied. Keep filtering those people out. Good Luck all in getting work there. I won't respond to anymore posts here anymore. Not worth the time. Sorry, for the my misunderstanding, but I will still get the bad rap, even for saying sorry. |

I been through the tweaking thing before. It does not work. After a certain amount of time waste a normal person would realize they are not going to get the job. New2seattle has got a major point. This is my experience. I spent about 5 minutes tailoring a resume to fit the job description (truthfully). It's just the key words. I submitted and forgot about it. A month later I got an email. Got my phone interview. Was told to check after a few weeks for an offer if they would give it. 2 days later I got the offer. I did all this while overseas. Not even in the states and hadn't finished my current contract work yet. BTW this is a job at the Everett plant (test technician). I live in Florida and I am authorized relocation. So if they want to have an interview with you they already want to hire you based on your resume it's you the interviewee that talks them out of hiring you by find out more information during the interview. There are thousands of applications going through and about that many that don't take the time to do it the way Boeing wants it. |
