What do you think - will Borders grow fast? Are they expanding their staff? How does Borders stack up against the competition?

Having recent experience with Borders I can tell you that around the holidays, they made sales projections unfairly high so that they didn't have to pay out any bonuses to save money. Then they cut payroll before laying off dozens and dozens of full time managers nationwide, saving even more money. Then we heard that they are in bad financial condition and have only about 60 days to work out it out before they may have to go Chapter 11. Even Barnes & Noble is no longer interested in buying them. Working for Borders in any capacity right now would have to be considered very risky and I wouldn't recomend it.

Heading toward bankruptcy and either a merge or alternative marketing e-commerce strategy (like Amazon). Top management ask for maximum output with very little input. Shrinking staff everywhere. Stock price currently at rock bottom. Stay away unless you have absolutely no other options.
