I was a walk-in applicant. My best advice is be cheerful and energetic. Make sure you are dressed appropriately. If the store is hiring the first impression is crucial. There are very few employees in each store, so don't assume that the person you are speaking to has no influence in the hiring process. Even asisstant managers have some say in prospective employees. Having a sense of style is a plus.

Any advice on this" I applied for a Consumer Services Associate position with Brown Shoe Company this past week. Basically a customer service position, and my resume and cover letter reflect that.
Should I call the company to check on the status of my application and resume?
