I would NEVER work for comsys again.

After multiple interviews, I was told that I
secured the job. Then they gave my some BS line
about problems with one of the managers there and
refused to elaborate.

After i made multiple calls trying to get an explanation,
I was threatened with "we'll get the police on your a55"
if you continue to harass us.

Isn't it amazing how the American worker gets treated like sh_t and has no recourse? I'm staying away from Comsys. Thanks for helping me out with the truth.

I fully agree. I have had the worst experience working as contractor for Comsys. They smartly covered the length of contract by stating, " When you join us , its like joining a school, and depends on you when to graduate".

I was laid off in 2 weeks ( I suppose graduated in 2 weeks). Don't trust them at all and be super smart with these liars.

Its not comsys its comS@@@.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS OUTFIT! Writing from Portland, Oregon.
I moved here for a position several years ago, and they would not pay my salary (3 weeks worth of pay) due to "not getting the paperwork processed in time", some deal like that.

I had a moving truck that I had to pay. The local manager could not get their corporate office in Texas to pay so she paid me for my moving truck (a couple thousand) from her personal money. I was tempted to file a complaint with the state but I didn't want to deal with the hassle at the time.

It turns out this same company merged or bought a company called Tech Solutions that I also worked for in 1998. We found out they overcharged employers and underpaid the consultants for a big profit. Crazy stuff. Live and learn.

Terrible experience here in SoCal as well.
I was hired on for a big contract with Symantec less than a year ago.
During the hiring process, I was hesitant in going in as a contractor because of the benefits, and asked for more money. The offer seemed nice, and they guaranteed me the contract was set at one year but that "many people on this contract have worked well over a year". When I seemed hesitant, needing to talk to my wife about this job change, they told me that they had already worked with me on the rate, etc., and "jumped through hoops" to get me to accept the contract. They went on to say that if I didn't accept the terms at this point, they would "Blacklist me" in their database and in their affiliates'. Anyway, I ended up accepting and three months later they cut my wage. About a month after that, they cut my days down to 4 day work weeks. Another month or so later they cut my wage again, and shortly after extended the length of my mandatory 4 day work weeks AGAIN. Here I am now, 4 months short of the agreed end of contract and they fire me, giving a 10 days notice (contract says 2 week notice at least).
Each time, Ed Armstrong sighted "economic conditions" and threw the blame on the clients, EDS and Symantec. It's certainly been an emotional rollercoaster, with a wife and 5 kids and getting yanked around like this. These people have no heart.

From Portland OR...I was tempted to file a complaint with the state but I didn't want to deal with the hassle at the time.

Ha maybe the fact that you are lazy is why the fired you???? How many times were you going to do your work, but didn't want the hassle at that time?

Seriously, how many of the people that posted their rants are currently "laid off". You are C players that is why you don't have jobs, were asked to take pay cuts etc.

Just Saying, maybe try working hard and see how COMSYS or any other Staffing firm will treat you.

Any recruiter is a crap shoot. It's all a numbers game. For every job posted, there are sometimes hundreds of applicants that click on the link, and sometimes several recruiters trying to land the same job. Generally, a recruiter is approached by a company and asked to supply their 2 or 3 top candidates. The company most likely asks this of 3 or 4 recruiting vendors.

So... 3 top candidates by 3 different recruiting firms is 9 candidates out of a pool of hundreds or thousands (depending on the skills required). A good many times the hiring company already has someone they like for the job, but they go through the motions for HR.

Or, if you're approached by a recruiter, keep in mind that they most likely are trying to land the gig, too. They want a list of several to offer the client. If you don't hear back from them, chances are that they never landed the contract. Don't sweat it, don't take it personally, just keep trying. It really isn't personal, it's just business.

I don't rely on recruiters to find me a job. I find the job, ask who the company deals with (their approved vendors), and then approach that company to see if they'll carry my contract. I only use these companies for payroll processing, never for finding me jobs. And it works 100% of the time. I've never, ever had a company turn me down, it's easy money for them. Just tack a small margin on top of my fee and they don't have to do anything but process my pay.

The absolute best way to land a gig is to network. Former bosses, former co-workers, former recruiters, etc. Sure, keep clicking the links on the boards, but understand that there are thousands out there doing the same thing. You click on 100 links, you might get 10 phone calls or emails asking for more information. Out of those 10 you might get two or three interviews, and might land one job.

Just keep playing the numbers...
