Metallica1 in Matawan, New Jersey said: My interview went so well, beyond well. I went through 2 interviews that day and he said "we can let him go for today" because they didn't have anyone else to interview me but they never called me again. he asked me several times my last jobs salary and I shaved 20 grand off but I think my salary hurt me.

Congrats on your interviews with Brewster. Cintas is a great company, please do not let negative current or former employers sway you. As with any company, it is what you make of it. I have worked with Cintas for over 10 years in a number of locations in the northeast.

As a trainee you will be making an hourly wage during your training period of 40 business days. They will keep your weekly hours at 40 within your 4 day workweek - yes you will work 4 days. You may go over 40, but they will try and keep it as close to 40 as possible. Once you become a full fledged ssr with your own route you will go on the pay plan which is based on the total route volume (dollar amount of your route) your pay is a percentage of that route. You have the opportunity to add to that with catalog sales to your customers, along with increasing your KPI's (key performance indicators - the numbers that Cintas bases your overall performance on - accounts receivable, adds, stops, lost replacements, etc).

I've been associated with that location for a number of years in the past and have seen many ssr's do very well. Realistically, the first year you can expect to earn at least 35k just nby showing up and doing the work. If you put effort into the job and try 50k is an absolute reasonable goal. Anyone who tells you different is lazy and just expects a job to hand them a check.

Cintas is more than just showing up and getting a check. You can make a long term career from it. With so many divisions and opportunities there are a lot of options for everyone if you want it.

The Job is CRAP!! They have cut our pay every year and every time they cut our pay they call it, "an exciting new pay plan". They are all about the bottom line and have the same problems as every other uni supplier when it comes to getting the product to the customer...THEY CAN'T DO IT!! They are all talk and no pay!! Don't waste your time, look elsewhere!! We all are!!

I say form a union and take your pay. These companies all make me sick. Just pay and take care of your employees. Union is the way to go.

Damn dude! You should go work for the competition like, Aramark or G&K, you sound bitter. I bet you suck at customer service with a tude like that. What company isn't concerned with bottom line? Oh yeah I remember which ones. The ones that went out of business. I'm glad or you're not the guy bringing me my uniforms.

Hey big10, what does a guy have to do to get in at Cintas? I think I have applied for every route position available in the last couple of months. I recently relocated to Gallatin and after researching companies, Cintas is at the top of my list for a route SSR job. Got any novel ideas for me to try? Would it help if I showed up at HR and talked to someone in person ????

They said the training takes like 6 to 9 months, then it goes up to 45,00 plus commision on all my sales of uniforms. The problem is I am already bored and a little worried the job is going to be a waste of my time becuase most of the guys in my office arent making their numbers and have almost no sales. These guys want to quit which could be good for me but I dont know how long this training is actually going to last. How long does everyone here really train to be a uniform sales rep and what is the actual salary you can make on average with bonuses and commision??

1st year look to make about $65-$70k, once you get acclimated in your territory then closer to $80-$90. Don't believe the easy $100k+ they tell you. It is a farce, but the car package and health benefits are great. You will (if you want to be successful) work 55-60+ hours a week to achieve those figures. Great training for learning how to sell and close business. You have to report your weekly sold amount every week, not monthly like most businesses. If you don't close at least $130-$150 per week sold, then you WILL be asked to leave. Especially on the Eastern borders.

What can I do to really stand out to this company? Is there anyone that you can think of that I could speak with that could help me get my foot in the door? Any help will be much appreciated.

I have been working there for many years and have seen a huge decline in pay rates over the past 2-3 years, My current position once paid 60-80k a year is currently making 35-45k a year, There raises are more of a slap in the face then a raise you can expect .3-.7 percent of your total annual income on a raise, as a driver that is. They do promote from with in 75% of the time and have most employees working at the low pay just for the opportunity to take the next promotion.

Corporate culture has also significantly changed for the worse in my eyes, The company was a great place to work for in the past which is why I took the job but has since went out the door. The only thing on your GM mind will be how can I take more from you the worker and get my bonus bigger, or have you/ are you "growing the business". Its often the only words I hear mine say as I pass in the office, not a hows the family, or any small talk. It honestly drives me up a wall.. And for those of you who will say I must be a poor employee with my sour way of thinking, I'm the top driver at my location performance wise (their very detailed grading scale) and run nearly the highest amount in annual volume at my location.

Here in MD starting pay went down. Used to be 18 per hour, now its as low as 14 an hour. Seems to keep dropping through the years. The guys who were making as much as 23 per hr they promote them to an office position, then cut their pay in half with salary and longer hours.

You don't touch anything and you sanitize everything 4 or 5ft and down in the restroom. Thats an hourly job. And Sodacan is right.. its VERY hard to get into Cintas. I went through 5 interviews, a background check, drug test and credit check. I know at my location the you best chances of getting in is if you know someone on the inside already, thats how I got in. I'm a horriable interviewer but knew someone so they gave me a chance and I proved myself. I'm not sure about the 4 day thing. If it doesn't say 4 days in the job posting them i'd assume its 5 days

I just got an offer for this position (SANIS), and would like to know what does the daily duties consist of. I know this is cleaning restrooms with special equipment (i've seen the youtube video), but I would like to have more insight as to how many locations on average do you clean per day, how long is training etc...... I'm not sure how long the training process lasts I know the location I worked at was short staffed and a couple sanis guys only trained for a couple weeks.. They have a route like the SSRs for industrial & facility services and the number of stops depends on how long it should take at each.. I think they give you enough for an 8 hour day

I currently work for a Cintas competitor in the Chicago area. I am a route sales rep getting paid salary and working over 60 hours a week. The pay is crap for the amount of BS I put up with. I am not getting the commission yet because I just started my route. I am thinking of leaving and wondering what people think of Cintas in the Chicago area. I was called by Cintas for an interview when I was one week on my job. I thought this competitor was going to be great to work for but it is nothing but headaches and 14 hour days. I am thinking of called the guy at Cintas that called me but wondering if it's just going to be the same BS I'm putting up with now. Thanks!

It depends what you are looking for at this time. If you want to get into mgt. then take the STC position. The money will probably be less than what you would make on a route, but long term you will make more money in mgt. If you aren't sure what you want to do, take the route and give yourself more time to think about what your future plans are. If you have no kids, and no wife then I'd take the STC position. It is a very time consuming position and is mentally stressful because you are the middle man between drivers and Service managers. If you do have a family it will be a sacrifice, expect to work 50+ hrs a week, but you can only decide if it's worth in long term.

Every company has their downsides. Cintas is no different but overall is a very good company to work for. At Cintas a route driver typically makes between $45000 and $55000 with a few exceptions. I've known a few drivers who are less motivated to make closer to the $40,000 but they tend to be the less motivated drivers. At Cintas you will NOT work more than probably 45 Hrs on a route unless an extreme exception. Most Drivers work no more than 42 too 45 hrs, with some I know working less than 40 hrs. Cintas has good insurance, good 401k, and good vacation. Like I said, there are things that drive us crazy but it's a good company to work for. A lot of it is attitude. Learn to not let the small things get to you.

I am currently an SSR and have been for 18 years. I enjoy my job when it comes to dealing with my customers. The worst part of working for Cintas is the dealings with those within the location. In the Dayton Area there is a trend of hiring management from outside of the company which has created a management team that has absolutely no idea what running a route for the company entails. Our latest STC (service training cordinator...responsible for helping Service Reps to master their jobs and to help them with areas they are struggling in) came from our A/R division and has never even ran a FS or Uniform route. This same position was applied for by 2 veteran SSRS.

They absolutely want yes people in management and they do not like to be questioned in ANY manner when it comes to policies and procedures that are put in place. Always have to love their "positive discontent" phrase. Which boils down to you can not like things just do not state that you do not like something.

One of the best posts I have read here and most realistic. I have been with the company for 18 years and have been thru multiple changes in pay plans. With each pay plan change the SSRs have made considerably less money.

I as well have been a top performer at my location for the majority of my career. I have never seen a promotion because I actually have an opinion and that is greatly frowned upon by Cintas.

The culture change is absolutely correct. I first noticed it when we lost Bob Buck (VP Midwest Group) and then even worse when Scott Farmer took over. No longer about customer service as much as bottomline.
