Although they claim to be an equal opportunity employer but their practices contradict what they preach. To cut a long story short, I passed an entry exams to join the work force after an interview was scheduled for me.
At the interview, everything went well and the interviewer assured me of how well I did and as such, a phone call will be made to me within the next 48 hours as to when I should be starting my training for the job ahead.
Hours turned into days and days into weeks but I heard nothing (one cannot reach them by phone as well since they know what they are doing)so in the 2nd week after the interview, I personally went to the office to inquire what the matter was just to be told by one of the recruiters that "sorry! we decided to go with another candidate instead". I therefore asked what went wrong and why was I not informed of their decision, she said she doesn't know as to why I was rejected and why their office did not inform me as well.
I then thanked her and left after which I came home and discussed the news with a good friend of mine. To my shock, I learned that I'm not the only victim to such circumstance for a couple of Asians as well as some Africans were victimized in similar manner for no apparent reason.
That might be quite true since I did not recognize any Asian there during my occasional visits to the facility.
My question therefore is: Is this the so-called global business? It is a big shame for the citi staff to embark on such an infamous act of racism and nepotism in this so called modern civilization of which America claims to be a leader fighting for equal rights for all people on the globe!

Nothing new to me. There's this politically correct this and that within the company but unfortunately, they are also "corporate America". In another words, they don't practice what they preach. Sorry for what had happened to you, but my advise to you is to forget about it & move on. There are so many better companies & opportunities out there who would hire you based on your skills & experience, and respect you for what you really are, NOT based on the color of your skin.

Citi is not a good place to work, so this might be a blessing in disguise. You can file a complaint with the EEOC--if they see a pattern of discriminatory actions, they will do something about it. Check with your local gov't too--counties often have EEOC offices.

You might be able to make a difference and since you are not working there, it would be hard for them to make you miserable over it :-)

Try applying at PricewaterhouseCoopers. It's the most diverse workplace I have ever been in, and I loved the job. They hire every age, race, sexual orientation, and so on. It's a great place for new Moms as well, and is consistently on the top 100 best employers lists. They love new grads too.

Citibank is indeed a discriminatory workplace. I challenge you to find an African American that has been promoted to senior management after working there for a lont time. Citi has recruited a couple of high profile senior African American managers from other companies - but their careers would have been stunted, they would have been marginalized and likely laid off by people they trained if they had they started their careers at Citi. I'm serious. Find an African American Management Committee Member who was developed within the company.

what are you all saying is total cr*p and bullsh*t.
I have never seen so many different nationalities especially hindu as in any other country. Frankly - too many.

Because you "passed" interview or you think you passed doesn't matter at all.
There are other factors then only knowledge and employer doesn't have to explain this to you.
