It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Combined Insurance?

Any advice on striking the right note?

You have to be kidding me. Just because it was not right for you you tell another person not to interview. Combined has been great to my family. Like any jobs there are highs and lows, but when you start on January 1st with a 40 K renewal check and you have not ledft the house yet... you must think to yourself is it worth investing the time into a career or are you looking for a job?

No need to worry. They hire EVERYBODY. It's a multi-level marketer, with kind of a cult-like environment. Everyone speaks the same, and everyone who defends the company here speaks the same too. "PMA! Blah blah! You can't handle it can you? blah blah. Have fun at walmart you get what you put in. Mr. Stone says this! Mr. Stone says that! Read self help books! Pep talks! Blah blah"
It's all a sham.

Its mostly propaganda. I know because I took a job with Combined for one day. Then I quit!! I saw everything what it was about just by listening to the whole rantings of Chairman Stone, it was like a meeting where the Little Red Book was espoused.

To talk to the local district people is pretty laughable. They have no offices in the local area. Closest district office is 122 miles away. Laughable that any legitimate business does not have the money to put a decent business office at least for the local employees. Every decent sized corporation I've ever seen has a regional office in every decent sized metro area. For example, many financial and insurance organizations not only have an office in Louisville but also one in Lexington as well as Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Nashville, St. Louis, etc.

The whole Combined experience said to me that it was mostly a propaganda schtick to beat on doors and sell. Sell, sell, sell. That was their motto. It was to sell and then sell and then sell some more. Meanwhile, most of the clients were getting ticked because you were there in their faces at their businesses and you could tell, lets get these people out of there. I was on a job shadowing thing with a lady and I was like, forget this crap. Something odd about it all. Going to old peoples houses picking up payments is hardly my idea of something even profitable

What Combined does is to have people run around in their beaters running up mileage which you can deduct from your taxes at 59 cents per mile as I was told by the area manager. She was supposedly so selective about the procedure but somehow she forgot that some of us are very selective about the procedure. I find it a bit insane for someone to want you to do a job for them making them money and you're not getting any sort of mileage reimbursement for wearing your car out or whatever you drive. No mileage reimbursement, no medical, no dental, no 401, nothing. All to work from 9 am until 7 or 8 pm in the evenings and run between businesses, hairstylists, etc.

Meanwhile you're basically at the mercy of the company and the insurance buyer. Unlike a real business where you sell radios, Plasma TV, camping gear, books, or anything else, you're basically selling a service and not a long term tangible asset that can be used until it falls apart. You're selling some piece of mind if you fall on your butt and need 100 bucks a day that they promised for assistance. I believe that a person with a modicum of intelligence could do better on their own than subject themselves to visiting old people with nasty homes and a rotten environment. If thats what insurance is all about, then I think they can keep it.

I hope you don't think this is the only company that doesn't pay your expenses. ex. Real Estate Agents, Self Employed People

But if a real business means selling "radios, Plasma TV, camping gear, books", I wish the best for you in your future job.
