Well, I just received an e-mail to call back because an offer was extended to me as comm tech 1. This is in the City of San Francisco and the pay starts off at 17 an hour. I wonder how much I'll be making by the end of the year? Does anyone know what the classroom and training is like? How much will i really be going in dirty tight spaces like under a house? Well, i don't care just pay me, lol.

And anyone who is taking the math test. Just study basic fractions and don't worry about how many you answer just answer the ones right. I think one page i only answered three. So hey! Good look everyone.

I am starting at Comcast as an inbound sales REP. Can anyone tell me what I am in store for. There are a lot of negative posts here, but it seems like a good company to work for. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks and Happy New Year

no problems its also easy to move up as a tech after over month u become a tech two and get a 10% raise. the more u complete of training the more u advance. not sure if its true or not cause yesterday was my first day but one guy on the forum said that you can earn an extra 150-600 if u complete ur jobs. so far everything he posted was right.

I have worked @ Comcast for 1yr. From what I have gathered working there is you are garbage. You will be treated great in most cases to the bosses face but when you turn around....they will talk all kinds of crap on you. I was suspended today for cleaning out my van and taking lunch and my breaks in a 3 1/2 period. I was following my work for the day and around 1pm i was done until 3pm....so i took a lunch in a public parking lot and ate. then around 2pm I was calling all the other fellow techs and asking if they need a hand...they all were good. So i contacted my poc and asked them if any jobs where available and they said no. so i just got the idea to do a lot of housekeeping and preceded to clean my van. It has been about 2-3 months since last time I had done so, so i rearranged just about everything and even brought a shop-vac to clean with as well. Well it took me to about 3-330pm and then I called my next job on the list. they canceled and i had nothing to do. So i finished cleaning and then changed my antenna on my van cause mine was damaged and that took about 30 mins to run 2 times. I left the parking lot around 345-4pm and went to do some leakage....i finished at 445 and headed back to the shop. Well they pull me into the office a week later and say someone seen me there for almost 5hrs. I was like WTF!! well i gave them my side of the story and they suspended me until they can re-interview there witness and see if i was lying. So if this is the company you want to work for by all means do so. I even got a bad review for commenting of how fios has a better pic and fast internet speeds for the time being....and I was saying that was good for competition and they turned it around and said i was being negative and all the techs think i am a smart ass and don't like me. I tell ya its a great feeling helping people but not at the cost of your own dignity. and the starting rate for a non-union comcast is 12.85 with a dollar raise for comm-tech 2 and so on.

Also there is no self advancement there its an old wives tale. you can't advance unless the training is there and you can be put into that class....ct1=6 months ct2=6 months ct3= 6 months so it takes a year and a half to get to 15 and hr. Just a fyi for some of you. The test also is mainly focusing of the parts 1-3 not so much on the self assessment. i will update if i got fired or not and see what kinda lawsuit can be filled if at all possible.... I violated no rules only enforced them by keeping my van clean and tidy so customers can say wow when walk by or look in :)

I am so sorry you lost your job...how frustrating! I guess they are blaming you because they did not have enough work to fill a gap in your schedule? That really sucks!!! I would dispute it...if for no other reason than to try to get your unemployment compensation. Since they "fired" you, they will probably try to deny you receiving your unemployment comp that you deserve. I wanna wish you the best of luck.

usually with big companies like this they will use the most generalized reason to terminate someone to save face of the individual and avoid embarrassment. i've heard of folks at at&t getting caught screwing in the workplace to get fired for performance reasons.

just be happy they didn't bring up the real reason you got fired, i'm sure you know what it was =)

Run...the other way, working for Comcast isn't a great career move.
You will be miserable. The position is very stressful, the managers couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag.

Kris in Havertown, Pennsylvania said: Competitive, although slightly lower than elsewhere pay. As a graduate from a premier business school, I was offered a couple thousand less than other Management majors at my university.

The benefits are where working for this company rocks! Free cable, high-speed internet, discounted digital voice, and discounted pay-per-view. Medical/Dental/Vision largely paid for. Life insurance, disability insurance standard. F/T employees get $5,000 tuition assistance per year for schooling on the side. 15% off stock options. 401k with 6% matching, 100% vested. 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid flexible days, 3 paid floating holidays, all in addition to the standard 7 national paid holidays. Additional voluntary benefits (free emotional or financial counseling, tax-free deduction from paycheck for home-owners or car insurance, etc...). Additional perks/discounts from partnering companies (%'age discounts with several companies, for instance, I got almost 20% off of my Sprint cell phone bill). That about sums up the benefits. Not too shabby, eh?

So, while the pay might be slightly lower than average for your position or degree, they more than make up for it in benefits, and it's a rather fun company to work for with smart, assertive employees. However, getting the promotion is tough from what I can tell.

so do you know how much the retail sales people make? I interviewed and they said 9.00 was the low end.

just to let everyone know, not all the services are free to employees anymore. instead of 50 percent off of video on demand movies, now its at 25 percent. a dvr is 5 dollars monthly. the 401k has been slashed to a 4.5% match beginning in january, and the medical premiums have shot up. finally the effects of a crappy economy have trickled down to what used to be the best benefits you could get anywhere.

Do you know what the medical premiums are for a family of 3? We currently pay approx $400.00/month with my husband's employer. I think that is crazy! You can almost get Cobra for that with the same coverage we have. I am hoping Comcast is much cheaper with better coverage. Thanks!

it differs from state to state, but the company insurance premiums are at about $150 a month for a family here in texas. i'm sure when you get an interview the human resources rep would be able to fill you in, but $400 is proposterous!

Benefits were really good, free cable, internet, and discount on telephone. Medical, dental, and vision. I was able to purchase additional life insurance for myself and my family with all the extra's I think it was about 3hund taken out of my pay every 2 weeks. At the time I left I was making 16.69hr full-time. and I my take home was about 9hund-1000 per pay period, that is without commission.

I have an interview for an Inbound Sales Rep. in a Comcast call center next week. The person I spoke with told me base pay was $5.71/hr. plus commission. This seems awfully low for a base salary, yet the person said sales reps. in this job average $40-$45K per year. Could commissions be that good on sales to make up for such a low base? Also if anhyone could explain how paydays fall and commission is paid out. She tried explaining it but I wasn't understanding it all. Thanks for anyone who can make this a little clearer.

Well guy's, I worked for Comcast for approx 9yrs here in Sacramento California. As with any job you will have your negatives and positives. I can honestly say the positives out weighed the negatives. It was great for me, never a dull moment, lots of perks, however lots of changes with restructuring etc etc. I started out at 10.50hr and departed at 19.81hr. My only regret is I had the potential but didn't move up the ladder due to thinking I would lose my job a lot sooner for personal problems.
I unfortunately was let go because I allowed my marriage to a beautiful, bored, housewife who aquired and addiction to meth, affect my attendance=(a world of insanity, this I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy.) I often think if I just would have been honest they may have worked with me a little more, but unfortunately you run out of excuses then it's to late.
They had great motivational tools, a lot of good ideas, and lots of opportunity for growth within the Co. that is, if you worked hard and applied yourself. Even though it has been rough being off work from Comcast for the past 2yrs. I still thank the team here in Sac. Call Center for not disputing my unemployment and giving me the opportunity to get my life back in order, and wife some treatment from the most addictive, insanity affecting drug out there today. If I didn't have beautiful kids that deserved their Mom and Dad around I would've chose Comcast instead of the fight to forgive and repair my Marriage.(OHH So Hard)
So yes, I speak highly personally and PROFESSIONALLY about my experience with Comcast. I do realize employers are different everywhere same company or not (people are only human). However do your best, try to meet the correct life partner to live your life with and Comcast will be a great place to start your career path.

miami sammy in Miami Beach, Florida said: comcast starting wage for cable installers in Miami, FL is $11.50 an hour. period. you will get gradual increases as time progresses and at the end of the day, you cannot live on a starting comcast salary alone.... i am from mass, and the last time i made $11.50 was quite some time ago, but miami companies won't pay people any more than $12 an hour for your average-joe job. there are opportunities for OT but still, who's kidding who, i mean 11.50/ hr is poverty level...
yes, you get to use a company vehicle to go back and forth from work, so considering how much gas you use in a week, ad that on top of an otherwise UGLY paycheck. their benefits are OkAY and they do give you courtesy cable and highspeed. so at the end of the month, you may have saved yourself $100 bucks in cable bills and $100-200 bucks in gas just by working for comcast. not that bad, but 11.50 an hour kills it. bottom line on comcast is that their decent benefits sort of level out the sub-average hourly pay to make it a semi-decent job if you are at a loss for work or don't have a college degree.
by the way, does anybody know how much they pay an hour in boston for commm tech 2 or 3?

you should move to Logan, Utah 11 dollars an hour will get you into a nice apartment and a little extra.

Ok disclaimer: This is just personal opinion and do not reflect those of Comcast. Personally, Comcast is the best company I've ever worked for (I work in the CIM division). The benefits are one of the best in the country, and as long as you are a hard working, dedicated employee, you will be rewarded, as Comcast routinely encourage managers to recognize hard working team players in their team, and have programs in place to do so. roth 401k/401k matching with excellent investment options, free cable/internet/voicemail, discounted PPV, life insurance, education benefits, EPP, the list goes on and on. Not to mention, this company is ROCK SOLID...Top notch leadership, direction, and management, it is perfect for those looking for a company to go career with (they are one of the few companies that are GROWING throughout this recession, need I say more?). The decision to accept their job offer is by far one of the best decisions I've made with regards to my career. I am a very very happy camper.

I just got a call from Comcast where they saw my resume on a job search website(probably monster, I have my resume in so many places I lost track). They offered me a job at starting salary $20-21 an hour with maybe more if my experience deems fit. And asked if I needed a relocation package, does anyone have info on their relocation packages? And about the company vehicle is that just for the installers (unsure of the different position names). Sorry for being so uninformed on somethings, but any answers would help.

Base for SR sales rep in big box store is $12 to $14/hour plus commission of between $500 to $1000/month depending on performance. Best of success in getting selected-it's tough out there and this gig isn't as horrible as some.

I can only speak for Comcast Michigan. I few years ago I got laid off of a technical support position that I worked for 14 years. I got an interview for Comcast. In the first information interview, they kept emphasizing that this position pays $25,000 and nothing more. This was half of what I used to make. Some of the benefits they talked about were: They have a basketball court for the employees. One guy in the interview said that's all he needs. I didn't say anything but I was thinking you cannot pay me in basketball. Other benefits: free cable, internet, etc. OK, we know they get that for free (no biggie there). I started listening when they talked about college reimbursement. They'll pay for college courses up to a certain dollar figure but the catch is they put you on these rotational shifts. Sometimes you work days, sometimes you work evenings and sometimes you work nights. OK so they offer you college reimbursement BUT it is impossible to go to college. I feel everybody has to start somewhere but this position makes it impossible to eventually advance into something more beneficial for yourself. This position pays less than unemployment. I got offered the job. I turned down the job and went back to school. I recently took a position that pays double what Comcast offered me. I didn't miss one dollar by turning down the comcast job.

I applied on their website and got a call about a week later to go take their tests. I passed the tests (found out that day) and was scheduled for an interview about 4 days later. Went to the next interview, met with 2 different Supervisors..about 20-30 minutes each...then was put into a separate room and informed I was being offered a position. Total time..a week and a half'ish. Had to take their drug tests and background tests of course...and I finally start on Monday. From start to finish from first call to start date...about a month...

Good luck!

So basically what you're saying is that if you're not offered the position right after the interview, you're s#!t out-of-luck with the job opportunity. It's been over two and half weeks and they are STILL running their ads. AND...they went out of their way to make it impossible to contact the. They all had no business cards to offer, and never mentioned their last names for me to follow up to call, no local HR Dept listing.

I sincerely believe it minority quota issue and NOT a talent acquisition issue.

Thank you. I start on monday the Comcast university for the commtech 1 position. My boss explained that I could reach commtech 3 within a year. To me this sounds great, the benefits and the pay are very reasonable, especially for a 21 year old student with a high school degree for now. I worked in McDonalds for a year when I was 16 to get work experience getting paid 7.15/hr. The people who are really comparing these positions have no idea what they are talking about. I was also told that commtech 5 employees earn more than 20/hr. Hope it all goes well, cheers.
