In Mid December my husband applied for a position (development) in the Denver area. Within a day or two someone contacted him and did a brief personal type interview, and told him they wanted to schedule a phone interview.

A few days passed and he took his phone interview. At the end of that interview they told him they'd like to do a second interview. So the following day he had another one.

(Each phone interview was about an hour).

At the end of THAT interview they told him they'd like to schedule an in person interview.

Since we were going into town over christmas, they were excited to just do it then. So on Dec. 28th he went in for his interview there. Which consisted of meeting with 3 people and interviewing with each of them, each interview lasting roughly 30 minutes.

He was told that they were going to push for a decision 'on friday' (Which was the 31st) But being that it was the holidays it might be Monday/Tuesday the following week before they had an answer.

He's received absolutely NO calls or anything. He felt like the interviews went well and they were seemingly excited about it. We don't know if it's a case they just decided he's a no go...or if the holidays have really prolonged things.

Does comcast notify you if you haven't been hired? Or do they just completely ignore you..? At what point is hope gone here? I want to move home something awful, but more importantly I need to figure out our living arrangements (renting currently blah!) should he not get the position.

TIA!

Update

Comcast called this morning. He hasn't received a job offer. But they wanted to know if he'd be interested in a different developer position as well.

I guess their still interviewing candidates, so they didn't give him a time frame. I'm just thankful to not be so far in the dark now!!!

Nope, no word yet.

I'm so disappointed, because if this doesn't go through we're looking to buy a home. And we just can't hang around waiting forever hoping they'll hire him. I really want to move back to CO...

*Sigh*

Still no word, this is getting annoying.

But we are filled with great hope! They moved the 'interview' to yesterday. Said 'interview' was really more about going into personal details and what it entails being the 'new guy'....as opposed to technical stuff.

They told him they want the position filled in Feb. So I'm guessing we should know within about 2 weeks...

He did get an offer yesterday :) He's nervous as all get out in the change so he's questioning it slightly, but I think he'll be fine.

Good luck Eric! If it helps we were never contacted at all about background checks. Might have to do with WHAT position you apply for though. Hubby is going to be doing application development.

Awesome, congrats!

We don't know when he starts yet. He requested 3 weeks from offer. (Two weeks notice at current employer and a week to move). They said we should have the paper work by Friday.

He's got a friend who works there as well, and he's been telling us about the benefits package a bit. Which is making us a little nervous about considering perusing this further...but I guess we'll see when we get the paper work.

What about the benefits package is making yall nervous? I hope yall get everything worked out by friday, did they say if they will help pay relocation for yall? I got the benefits paperwork today so if you have any questions i can just read it to you off the sheet here. Hope to hear from you soon

No, they won't pay relocation for anyone below management. Bummer.

Not sure if benefits are company wide or regional....but what has him worried is he's been told by a friend:

Only one insurance choice and it's HMO
Copay for general practitioner $50 (Not sure on specialists)
Coinsurance $500 per family member
Don't know the deductible

401k is only matching 1% (www.comcast.com/corporate/about/careers/whycomcast/benefits.html) Says it's 4.5% matching..

He was under the impression he only got 10 days vacation over 5 years (IE 2 days per year.) But he's GOT to be mistaking 10 days per year for 5 years....I mean...really..

I just called Hr here to make sure that i wasnt telling you wrong but she said that if it is an accual comcast company you do get two choices of insurance highest copay for either choice is no more than 20 dollars specialist is either 15 or 35. 401k is 4.5%, you do get 8 flex days per yer that can used at your time of choice after initial 90days of employment to have family insurance which includes my wife and a little one will cost me 155 a month, she told me that after six months of service i would get five paid vacation days so in total i could have 13days total off plus seven paid holidays. She said that if it is just a comcast approved site tho she said that what your saying is about right. But im sure your friend has to be mistaken if nothing else talk to the hr person at your location, hope this helps. If you want me to i can send you copies of all the insurances forms that they gave me so you can see what im talking about.

You can choose HMO or PPO. 401K is matched at 4%. Vacation, I assume, is based on the position. I'm a CommTech and starting out we received 80 hrs vacation along with 64 flex hrs and 24 alternate holiday hrs. Plus, they offer MANY other perks.

Comcast is a great company to work for. No need for worry. I'm sure he'll be happy there.

Oh Eric, that sucks! Did you figure that out? That's not right!!!

Thanks DP! We got his packet thursday, but I couldn't access the forum.

It eased some fears! It says pretty much everything you said!! :) except ours said 401k is matched to 4.5% DH isn't too happy about that. LOL BUT we're coming from a govt. job where the match is significantly higher.

Health insurance also looked pretty good to me. I just hate figuring anything insurance related out.

He starts the 28th....so I'm a busy bee packing....

How long after the 1st day of work does your health and 401k benefits begin? How long after day one of work do you become eligible for free Comcast service?

I *think* so...I'd have to go grab the packet to be certain. We're not that worried about that portion. We're going to be living with family for a little while....(uh yay?)..

Hello Eric, sorry about the super late response....I've been super busy in training at Comcast University!!!(lol) I got the job!!! To anybody waiting on pins and needles waiting to hear back just calm down as long as you pass your drug screen and get the requested information sent to whichever company is doing your background check(if they contact you and ask) in a timely manner YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY nothing to worry about. Keep the faith and PLEASE ALWAYS be honest.:)
