Here in Washington Comcast was voted the 2nd best place to work in the state. I am wondering if it really varies that much by location. I know a few people who work there here in Wa. and they all say that its a great place to work and it has awesome benefits. |

I know this from personal experience. The cops HAVE to catch him in the act of violating the order, which means they never do. I had a PFA against a family member and the guy is stalking me to this day (15 years later). The police department conveniently lost the PFA delivered to them in person no less than 3 times. Maybe I just live in an area where the cops are just too lazy, but I think it's just that they don't care. I have medical records as proof of injury and still nothing was done. |

I have been trying forever to get in at Comcast. I apply over and over again for the positions that I know that I am highly qualified for and get no luck. I go in for the assessment every time and pass, go back for an interview and then wait and wait. I usually get a letter saying sorry we went with another candidate. It's getting a little disappointing. I have many years of customer service experience, but have one little misdemeanor on my record that I technically was not involved in (just basically held as an accomplice) from over 3 years ago and nothing. I feel so let down because I know I am more than capable to do the job... should I just give up? Since trying over and over 3 friends have gotten in the company in different fields. I just don't know if I should keep trying or just give up for good. I just know that it is a great opportunity to get in with such a growing company. Any advice?? |

I need some advice please. I am in the Army stationed in Iraq currently. As soon I return it will be the end of my contract. I am really wanting to get a job, maybe a career with Comcast as a Comm Tech1. I have heard great things about the benefits. I have a few questions. How soon should I start trying to apply? Also I will be relocating to Colorado when I get out of the Army. How do I go about trying to apply for a job when I am on the other side of the country. It would be a shame to move and then not have a definite or secure job waiting. One more question. What is the starting pay for a Comm Tech1 in Colorado? Thanks. |

I'm not sure how soon you should start applying, but you can just go on comcast.com/careers and search for positions in Colorado. I think you can just put Comm Tech in the search field. I'm not sure the starting pay in Colorado, but in Michigan they start at $13/hr. My fiance has been there just over a year and he is already a Comm Tech 3 and is up to $16/hr. |

That's great news. How does your fiance like the job? I am reading both positive and negative things. Oh.. I have another question. I have a DUI when I was younger about six years ago. Will that affect me from getting a job? I have matured since then. Thanks. :) |

He loves it. There is always the chance for overtime and it's basically you have to be a self-starter and now how to have time management if you need to get out on time for something. There are a lot of great benefits. Insurance, flex-time, vaction, and even discounts through other companies. I am not sure if they will have an affect on it. In most cases in could, but that is something you would have to talk to them about, especially if it has already dropped off your record or something. |

I contacted Comcast for a position in their call center a few weeks ago. I went in with my resume, was told to apply online, did so and was called a week later. I went in, took their computer test and was scheduled for an interiview the following week. I went to the interview and met a girl in the lobby that was there for her third interview. I got called in, I spoke with the HR person and was then interviewed by a supervisor from the call center. The HR rep then called me into the office and offered me a job for Tier 2 call center, making more than the regular call center. I filled out the background paperwork, did a drug screen and start training in one week. It was a very streamlined and efficient process for me. Granted, I was referred by someone already working at Comcast which may have had a beneficial effect on my outcome, but he has only been there a little over 3 months himself.

Hey guys. Just wanted to ask a few questions here. Its friday the 13th and i just had my interview. The supervisors really liked me, they even said even tho its friday the 13th its your lucky day. They had me sign some background check forms, and said I did a really good job, and asked the right questions during the role play. They told me they would give my app to the HR rep and schedule me for a second interview sometime this week. What do you guys think? What are my chances of getting in at this point. BTW its a position for Call Center Sales Rep Part Time. Please let me know.

CONGRATULATIONS on making it that far. It took me a while. I have been working for Comcast for about 6 months now. I work in a call center as a sales rep. Your chances are good. Remember, if you get the job you're NOT an order taker on the phone, you are a BSP (Broadband Sales Professional). Sales is the name of the game. You MUST SELL!!!!!!!. If a customer wants just basic cable you are supposed to sell them Internet and phone as well. your 4 cores are (BASIC,CDC,CHSI,CDV. You will be judged and paid on meeting these goals. If you have any questions just ask. Good luck. |

Hey Steve. So when you got hired, how did you get the job? Process-wise I mean. After your interview with the supervisors, did you have to interview with the manager? What kind of questions does the manager ask? And after that interview what happens? I'm really anxious, and I want this job BADLY. Thanks. |
|
Steve in Pembroke, Massachusetts 7 months ago |
Well... In a nutshell, I have a friend who has been in the cable industry for 23 years. I do believe that helped. What happened in my case was after I was interviewed by the supervisor, I guess he gave the go ahead to the human resources rep. Then I was given a multiple choice test. That took about 15-20 minutes. Then, I guess the HR rep and supervisor had a discussion. After about 10 more minutes the HR rep basically told me I had the job. I didn't speak to a manager at all. If I can be of more assistance, just let me know. |

I have a 3 year old misdemeanor that should be expunged (I completed community service). Will this keep me from getting a job? I was already 'offered the position' and have taken the drug test (no worries about it, clean as a whistle) and am waiting to hear back from the background check. How long does it usually take to hear back, and if I was never 'convicted' of the misdemeanor (because I completed the diversion), can it be held against me? I would love any advice. I just did the drug test a few days ago. Thanks! |

I too would like to know how long it takes for a background check. I just faxed in my background check authorization to the office. How long does it take? |
|
jbmckenzie in Huntsville, Alabama 7 months ago |
They started my background check on Friday...Tuesday of the following week the company performing the background check called to ask me a couple of questions regarding my diploma. I went ahead and faxed it to them (hoping it would save some time). Anyways, the following Thursday the recruiter from Comcast called to let me know my background check was completed and everything was fine...so it took 6 days total for mine to be completed. The recruiter did say that sometimes it took a while for them to retrieve the diplomas, depending on the high school and how long ago it was issued. |

I wouldn't think it would show up since you were not formally "convicted". I have a misdemeanor warrant that I did not know about when they did the background check. Evidently I had a fine for my dog getting out of my yard (how stupid, huh) I thought my husband had paid it...well, my son got pulled over in my vehicle last week and the police ran my tag # and the warrant showed up. Anyways, it didn't show up on my background check, thank goodness! The way the question was worded on the application only ask if you had ever been covicted of a misdemeanor or felony, though. I'm glad I didn't find out about the warrant until after my background check was completed...I would have worried and lost sleep over it! |

One of the rules was that you could not look around, you had to stare at your monitor constantly. If you had a question or problem, good luck getting help. Every second of your day was monitored. Calls had a time limit. When the buzzer sounded you had to hang up on the call. I started losing my voice after only a few weeks of work. |

A comcast recruiter apparently saw my resume from yahoojobs.com, gave me a call and asked if i am interested for a CAE for IP position in largo md. I said I was and she set me up for a phone interview. After the phone interview, I received an email with links for online skills tests consist of psychological, analytical and mathematical exams. They are timed and I just did my best to answer each question. Wasn't able to answer all questions though (I don't think anyone could). I then received another email from comcast recruiters instructing me to fill up a profile on comcast's career website before they can submit my application to comcast hiring manager. After a week, I received a call and they set me up for an in-person interview. I interviewed with the hiring manager in their largo office. Right after the interview, he asked me to fill up some papers and sent me to HR. The HR girl asked for my SSn and driver's license number and gave me an ePassport form for my drug screening. She said that I have a contingent offer, if my drug screening and background check turn out ok I would start with the training by first week of October. All of these took 12 days from the recruiter's call up to the drug screening. Everyone I spoke over the phone and in their largo office was nice. I am now waiting for the result of my drug test and background check. I am optimistic that they will turn out ok. |

I am a corporate recruiter.
Job application advice: Do it 3 times in this competitive economy... 1 - If you see a job you want with Comcast posted on Careerbuilder, Monster, Indeed.com, or other external sites... apply as instructed.
The way they handle your application may differ, based on location, the recruiter's style or workload, the hiring manager's availability, or just the number of applicants they need to get through. What is important is how you react when the phone rings. :) Be positive. Be prepared. Do not take rejection personally, especially in this market.
Good Luck to all! |

Maybe call and ask them straight up if you are ineligible for hire, as they may have a policy. Don't minimize it. Don't hide it. They know. Focus on what you learned from the experience. |

Radioguy95 in Aurora, Colorado said: In my experience, to try and get a job with Comcast means you need to know someone first. First of all, we all know HR dept. are a joke, literally. They are trained to filter the resumes through a program that searches through and contains "certain" words and terms. The biggest mistake I made in the past applying for the company is putting down the fact that I was not an idiot and knew the difference between RG6 and RG59 Coax cables so to speak. They want idiots off the street who have no knowledge whatsoever so they can train them from scratch. My advice, if your going to apply for this company and any other company that forces online applications, just be stupid and play stupid, chances are, you'll then get the job. Just look at some of these "Butcher-Tech's" that go out to the houses. Read the reports from angry customers online about how the technicians are rude and slummy looking. Thats what Comcast and Time Warner want. They want the techs who are the types to "slam" calls and move quickly onto the next. Unfortunately, that is why they like idiots to apply, again, so they can "program" the techs to their own liking and not ones who have experience and could possibly work outside the standards of Comcast and Time Warner. Unlike the past, having knowledge of the job your searching can now hurt your possibility of getting that job. I respectfully disagree. They screen for knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and cultural fit. The technology available to some does value keywords and can single them out, but it is usually used to search for more resumes to bring into the process... it is not used as a tool to screen people out who have already applied. To do that would not be a very effective practice. :) |

I interviewed for two spots(Systems and Support) with Comcast, one for Comcast Spotlight Division, and another Comcast Center out in PA. I didn't have to take any exams, or pre-screens, just filled out the online app, and surprise, surprise, a "recruiter" from Comcast contacts me in both cases. Both interviews went well from a technical side and I drilled all the tech questions, test scenarios, dealing with clients, etc. Then 3 weeks later, "We found a stronger candidate", meaning "we like to hire fresh noobs to save money".... In both cases, the people that interviewed me were just as clueless and aloof as many managers are, yet they got those spots on the "Good 'Ol Boy" network.... |
