Phyllis, I submitted an application on May 3rd and did not get a response till May 21st, so don't be too concerned if you don't hear back from Continental right away. |

Let me add that on May 11th I received an e-mail informing me that my resume was being considered and would only receive an invitation for an interview if I was "qualified" for the position. |

Good luck to you. |

I work for Continental here in Houston and have been with CO for almost 19 years, i hate to say it.. but maybe a move to the mainland will get you the job faster as many in Guam are finding out as well as we have many Samoan/Hawaiians moving here, we have a huge transfer of people here in Houston and EWR and the cost of living here in Houston is real low! Keep trying though, i thought i wold add something to this form. CSA Jay |

Good luck to you. Yes! The benefits are fantastic and we have been the most admired airline for about six years in a row from JD Powers. Did you know that Continental has the youngest fleet of aircraft in the world, all of our airplanes are new or semi - new, also Continental is the only airline handing out on time "bonus money" a hundred bucks when we are on time and it's nice to get that when you are not aware your airline did good. Some of the other things i like about Continental ( and i did work for United for 3 years ) is that the flying passes are unbeatable with CO! Trust me! You fly for 30 bucks anywhere in the domestic US stand by, and your parents ( JA ) and you can put one other person on your "companion" on JA right when you are hired, US Air, United, American , North West will not do this. You get an allotment of flying passes per year where as CO its unlimited & here is the kicker... When you reach 10 years with CO all flying is free! Day trades are a huge thing here at CO, you can take a day off as long as you post your request of that day ( wishing for someone to cover your hours on their day off ) and interest in advance on the many company computers, someone will sigh for your request ALL THE TIME and walla....you have the day off. I have traded off 2 weeks at one time and again no other airline is doing this program it's fantastic! Cant post due to word limits! Keep trying! |

On the web site it says that my application is "under review." What does that mean and how long can that take for a Supervisor position? Thanks. |
|
Angel in La Vergne, Tennessee 16 months ago |
Alan, I don't know how long it will take for a Supervisor position but I applied early June this year, got the "under review" message 2 weeks ago and just got invited to a group interview for Flight Attendant today. Don't lose faith, it will come soon. |

It means that it will take some time and you should remember 52 thousand people work for CO system wide. I have had people here in Houston wait three months before called in for an interview. |

It took about 4 weeks for someone to get back to me and now I have an interview for FA this month after I already accepted another job. I am still going to the interview b/c I heard it's a great company. The response time varies. I know for sure they are still hiring. GOOD LUCK! |

Yea' you just never know when they will get back to you, it could be weeks and yet, it could take a year. keep applying online at the corporate website about every two months and the reason i say this is that the files on the website are cleared now and then when CO hires in mas numbers ( your application gets deleted ) so keep on with the online application! Just keep on applying! |

You are under review and it could be soon that CO is going to contact you, usually 90% of the time when this happens you get called into a location for an interview. A friend of mine just got hired on in the human resource office here in Houston we also had a need for office people in payroll, tool room and man power ( those that assign overtime ect..) |

Jay in Kingwood, Texas said: Yes! Hi Jay, Enjoyed your comments! I am waiting for the training date. Would be so kind as to explain the usual reserve schedule? How many days are actually usual to work out of the 20 reserve days to make the minimum hours of 83? Also, are they usually very short flights? Do you actually only get 10 days off per month? |
|
jay in Kingwood, Texas 16 months ago |
Nativenuyrkr said: Hi Jay, Short flights? Not in the least, i just came back from NRT and IAH to NRT is about 14 hours flight so you can see it will very from flight to flight, it depends on where you fly to. I have a ten hour shift with three days off per week, and can trade off with another person who is scheduled off during my work day, it's true you need to work 50% of your work week but no one ever follows that rule, some people trade off way to many days and never get into trouble for some reason? We also get ID90's on other airlines, 90% discount on airfare on other airlines ( also stand by ) that is another that i forgot to mention. |

Thanks so much for the quick reply. From other comments I read, getting an Int'l flight as a new reserve is not common? That's why I speculated that in order to make the hours, a bunch of shorter flights would be assigned? Do new reserves commonly get off 3 days a week? The schedule shows 10 days off (6 of them moveable. Also, what is an ID90? Thanks Jay! |

I'm not sure what you are asking and if it is a flight attendant question i would not know, i work CSA ( ramp/cargo ) and we bid by seniority about three times a year, i bid a 10 hour shift in order to have three days off for summer. We have many shifts from 4 -6 hour part time to 8 and 10 hour full time. If you go in flight or flight attendant then from what i know you will be on reserve for quite a while, and based in Houston or Newark that is where most of the new flight attendants end up. An ID90 is a 90% discount airfare when you show your Company ID to purchase this discounted ticket on another carrier like KLM, Air France etc... |

Does anyone know what kind of drug test continental does for ticket agents? I was at a club where people were smoking pot, and I'm afraid it will show up in a urine test. Any info on what I can expect? |

Wassup Cont. Employees and *future* employees... just recently got hired so felt like throwing in my 2-sense on the topic since I was just in the same scenario... I applied to Continental on Aug. 29th, Didn't hear anything back from them until about first week of October .. When in for interview around mid october, then the following week had to take urine test/strength test in airport.. About two weeks after that had orientation and I start a 5 week " training " on Monday.. So in other words its a pretty long process but don't get disencouraged, it's well worth the wait, im very excited to start working with this great company and enjoy the wonderful travel benefits!! =-) |

I just applied for a job at CO last week. It is not very often that you will see PT work for an airline. I have been a SAHM for about 3.5yrs and am really wanting to get back to work part time hopefully in the evenings/weekends. I too was wondering how long it would take to hear something. My question is....I just figured out how to view my past job submittals and my info. The job status says "OPEN" what does this mean? Does this mean it is not even in the "review" stage? Just curious. Thanks to all for all the wonderful info on the CO hiring process. So...is it recommended to "keep applying"? Weekly? Monthly? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks |

I had an interview on feb 27th. I thought the interview went excellent (in my mind). The last words out the the interviewers mouth was "we'll call you next week"! I waited until the following Friday and called the interviewer and left a message inquiring about my status and if she would please call me and let me know. I waited another week and I have emailed her this time asking the same and requested she email me back for some kind of answer. As a tile contractor on the side I am holding up projects because I am trying to figure out my next thirty days schedule. Is it customary not to hear form CO if they do not want to hire. In any case I find this very frustrating! |

I am curious about the '30 dollar for flight' thing. Is that per flight or for the year? |
