I'll bet you that all the people complaining in here probably got fired for a good reason and just can't deal with the fact that they couldn't make the grade. I will admit that the turnover is high, but that's because the recruiting department hires all you idiots to begin with instead of qualified people - so yes, the recruiting department does need to do a better job.

Just a thought, but maybe instead of spending all your time on the internet bashing things, try expanding your knowledge and experience. And you wonder why you couldn't cut it at Countrywide to begin with...pathetic.

I made the grade but I had a racist boss who got rid of all her manager that were not of her race. I quit before this happened - everyone else was fired except for one person who was a kiss-a and was promoted quickly because the manager knew he'd do anything the manager asked.

Yes, some of the turnover is high because the screening is low, but the training is bad now, the outsiders that came in without any knowledge of corporate culture, due to the tremendous growth of the company, made it a miserable place to work. HR doesn't help.

You can't have this many complaints on a site about a company without something being wrong. Look at the lawsuits that have been filed again CHL.

Now get off your high-horse! You'll probably be the next to go!

I've seen unemployment claims from people that were terminated from Countrywide, and I would never ever EVER work for them.

Their people work hard, then get treated like crap and thrown to the wayside when they bring up a legitimate question or concern about policy or procedure.

Their reasons for termination are usually vague, or some newly created policy that the poor, hapless person never heard of.

Raise an issue where you think you're being harrassed? A tenured employee will find his or herself out of the door quick, fast and in a hurry. '

Say that you think a call scoring was unfair...you're a trouble maker, out the door you go...

They work hard, harder and hardest, only to run into glass ceilings, brick walls and the ever present Good Ole Boy System...

I don't work for countrywide, would never do so, nor would i recommend my worst enemy go there...

I couldn't agree more. I am tired of seeing all these people trash Countrywide when MOST of them know nothing of the company. Wake up people. Of course Countrywide is going to have the most complaints, layoffs, disgruntled employees.. what do you expect when they are the largest mortgage lender in the world.

They must have done something wrong with thier investing. If BofA had to bail them out, I would be worried about their longevity. Attitude reflects leadership. If all these people are complaining about the company, it shows a true lack of leadership. I hope they feel good about selling sub-prime loans to people who couldn;t afford them. I can't wait until they go under and ruin our economy. Mortgage Brokers are like used car salesman.

You must be working for Countrywide. You mean largest in the nation, not the world. Consider yourself very fortunate and hope that Countrywide will not go bankrupt. I hope that the emergency credit line given is sufficient to supplement its funding liquid position.
I am praying that they won't go down the tubes as it will shake the FNMA foundation (Being the agency's biggest customer.) To make matters worst, what would happen to almost 62000 employees. Are you aware that 40% of their nearly $58 billion deposits are uninsured by FDIC (begining of the first quarter?) I am bailing myself out of the finance industry.
This market conditions has been too familiar and a true wake upcall.

I work at CW and I can tell you that there is plenty of room for advancement within the company and no you dont have to be a kiss A** or anything of that nature! They are a good company to work for. I have worked for a few other Mortgage Companies and yes CW has Corporate Politics, but you tell me of any Corporation that doesn't! They offer great training to idiots like the ones above that dont know there A** from a hole in the ground with an obvious lack of any education, let alone how to do anything in connection with something as complicated as a mortgage. If you idiots had any education at all then you would at least be able to spell correctly and use the proper punctuation. Yes, you work alot when it is needed (something you agreed upon when you were hired) but the compensation makes it worth while. They show employees the same respect that the employees give themselves let alone others. I know quite a few people that "used" to work there and if you talked to me or about me the way I have heard people do, then yeah, I would can your butt too! They do not take any type of pleasure in having to do what the economy calls for. What happened to Morals and respect for your boss? Instead of wasting your time bashing Americas number 1 lender you could actually be off your A** looking for a job and being a decent member of society. Instead you are sitting around moping and blaming your disfunctional screwed up life on your former employer? I'm tired of paying for all of you low lifes, living on my hard earned tax money spitting out kids and collecting welfare as life passes you by! If your going to soak up all my hard earned tax money at least use it for some good and buy yourself an education because lord knows all the money in the world can not buy you any common sense! I say build a bridge and get over it!!!! Your life is what you make it, positive something is better than negative nothing!!

Hmmm. Seems many people are right about CW. Here we have a person who claims to be employed there, yet the individual has no sense of customer relations whatsoever.

Did it ever occur to you, Sir, that some reading your remarks might actually be mortgage customers of CW? What happened to respect for the image of your company?

The way I see it, here was a great opportunity to address the complaints raise about your company and attempt to put things in proper perspective yet you chose to insult basically everyone - employees, former employees, future employees and yourself. Next time, I'd not admit you actually worked there if that is your view of things. I know I'd never now choose CW to use as my mortgage lender in the future and the decision is based as much on your remarks as theirs.

Countrywide has excellent customer service and there customers do always come first with them! That is how they have become the number 1 lender. I am not insulting anyone but the bitter people posting negative comments about about a previous employer. It makes me digusted to know that a company that is looking out for the American public keeping jobs and doing the best that is available considering the current market status and many people want to put the company down for doing what the current economic status has forced them to do. There are so many more issues in the world that deserve all the passion that these people have put into down grading the company. They doors are open in CW for you to suceed the difference is you actually have to choose to do so. CW shows the upmost respect for customers and staff. It is all in how the person perceives it. My statements are merely based on my opinions. Having been in the industry for nearly 10 years and working at other companies, choosing to work for CW was 1 of the best decisions I have made for myself. I am sorry if you feel that you could never have a mortgage relationship with them. If you gave them an opportunity to show you what a great company they truly are then you would realize that my statements of bitter ex employees should not discourage anyone from grabbing the great opportunities that they have to offer as a mortgage company or an employer. It is like the tabloids and Celebs do you believe all that is written about them? I personally like to be the one to judge something based on true facts and not the "he said, she said" that is being placed on pages such as this one. Yes it is good to have someplace to hold debates but there is a difference between having a debate and verbally abusing a company that has given you an opportunity to suceed in a career with a mortgage company.

Build a bridge and get over it, I could not agree with you more. I worked for CW for four years, left and I am scheduled to go back this Monday. For a company who everyone says is so horrible, I apparently couldn't stay away long enough. I acknowledge there are layoffs as everyone else is so happy to point out, but for a company who is supposedly in so much trouble, I can't fathom why they were able to offer me a salaried position if this were the whole truth. Trust me, I have argued on this forum for weeks. Very exhausting. I am glad to see someone on the positive end of this controversy, finally. Kudos!!

If I could teach the world how much further you could get in life by keeping positive I would. You take the good with the bad. I am glad that you will be able to return. They need more people like us in the office. Life is all about the outlook. I wish more people could have a positive outlook. Unfortunately so many people go through so much in life that they get stuck in the pit of negativity. Hopefully they will all be able to move on and find a career in which they can be happy. Thank you for the Kudos. I normally dont comment on these things but the rumor mill has gotten the best of me recently and I had to say something to stick up for a great company such as CW!

I have worked for Countrywide's Full Spectrum Lending Division. Although I have heard many horror stories from other employees at other branches who have had bad managers, I had a pretty good experience at CHL. It all depends on who your boss is really. Both my branche managers were really good, but their boss was another story. I went from one region who the Regional Vice President was an control freak of a woman. On Fridays, she would send out condescending emails if you do not have enough Credit Pulls/ Applications. Everyone on the region hated here and for good reason. I transferred to another region where the Regional Vice President was a decent guy who did not micro manage. I only have a few gripes at Countrywide One, they are really expensive so in order to sell their loans you have to either be really smooth, or just sell the Countrywide brand. But I think they had to be expensive in order to run such a huge operations so I can't really blame them for that. Another gripe is that the bigger they got, the the more they seem to cut commissions from us. In order to make real money ($10,000/ month) you have to close 10+ loans/ month. The final gripe is they really really promote internal competition among regions, branches, and teams. So much so that we worked 10 hrs/day easily Mon-Fri, and half days on Saturdays. Of course when we report that we work that much, the branch managers get in trouble, so we were discouraged from reporting our real working hours.

Well fast forward. Look what's happening in that industry currently. Mozillo sold off his stock six months before he had to ask B of A for a bailout. The mortgage and lending industry as well as banking is toast. I'd suggest looking into another field. For the last six years unethical lending practices went unabated now we are seeing the result.

It's going to hurt beyond the R.E. industry to the consumer and broader economy. I've met at least twenty people in the last year who got out of banking, mortgage, real estate. They are insiders and they had some pretty scary tales. It's only recently that the media is fessing up to what's really going on.

If the consumer knew what is around the corner they would stop spending immediately and save every dime. In the future those with saving will fare better and if you are in debt it will be painful. Watch CNBC, it's not going to be pretty.

So- you're not pathetic- your HR department at CW is pathetic.......You think you're in a separate department? High turnover reflects the ineffective micro management philosophy that is endemic in your company and managements arrogance too. Your placing blame elsewhere in the company, isn't constructive and shows that you are missing the point......

I keep hearing about how Countrywide is the LARGEST lender in the U.S. I would like to share some facts as to why it would appear this way. Countrywide buys every possible loan they can from other lenders (fact), this means they are not attracting people to there company, they are buying loans not earning business. Fact #2. Countrywide will or would have given anyone a loan when all other lenders would not. They do this to get the up front money and then sell the loan to an investor so he can deal with the mess when they default. This is why they APPEAR to be the largest. They have NOT become the "Largest" because they have great customer service and attract people. These are all facts. So please Countrywide reps respond with any facts to state other wise. I hope to see this company fall and the CEO go down. He and other higher ups are the reason this company is screwing people all over the US. The way a company does business and treat there customers stems from who is running the show. You can see the people running the show do not give two cents about anyone but there self by the way there employees act. I have no doubt that some of the employee are honest but for the most part there pay revolves around quick sales not long term great customer service and repeat referrals and customers. They have paid there way to the top by borrowing money they have not earned it!! This company has only paper money not liquid assets. They have to borrow any and all of there money. Think about it guy and gals. I could go on and on with more facts but I will wait for the next countrywide bone head to comment, then I will slam some more facts to deface there pathetic try at praising there company. Lets go!!!!!

I'm from another company that has layoffs too. This is not just a countrywide issue. Selling volitile loans to people that could not afford them is one culprit. Lots of lenders and broker's sold these loans. Outsourcig is another problem which has lost US employees jobs. I think name calling to the people on this forum is not the right thing to do. I'm in their shoes and could never point fingers or judge anyone. We are all trying to find our niche but it's just not that simple. Just like the housing market being in a buyers market, so is their a hiring market with so many laidoff employees. Quality job choices are reduced in our industry because so many companies are laying off. We have a surplus of employees looking making it harder to get hired (especially if you specialize in a certain area). I say good luck to all of you and I hope everything comes out okay for you.

I can understand your comment but I have to say a few things. I know that most if not all mortgage companies are have difficult times due to the market. You need to understand something. The people here, including myself, are not speaking in whole about Countrywide having problems due to the current. We are speaking from past experienses with this out right rediculous excuse for a mortgage lender. This company is a terrible company to do business with. They may give loans to people with bad credit and there are some of the problems in the first place, but let me tell people something. I had perfect credit, let me say again, PERFECT credit when I bought my house in 2001. My mortgage company sold my loan and thousands of others to Countrywide and from that point on my credit fell at a drastic clip. They screwed up my escrow, sent me escrow refund checks stating my escrow was over paid twice in one year. After sending the checks they, one year later, told me i owed them the money and have to pay it back in twelve months. on top of that they had been paying the wrong amount to my state and local tax dept. for three years and that would have to be paid back in twelve months. I had to file ch.13. just to make them give me more time to pay back THERE MISTAKE. Well guess what!!!! two years later, this year they decided to tell me once again, they have been paying the wrong amount to my state and city tax office and I had to roll that into my ch.13 or my payments would double. I have my house listed as a short sale and am trying to sell it and get away from the idiots. its been on the market for five months. I bet you when I get an offer they will make it another terrible experience. THIS IS WHY people are saying the things they are saying. I hope they fall and fall quick and I hope all the people who are doing and have done dis honest things to people, pay the price in this life and when they meet there maker. For the honest employess I wish you the best.

You are correct. If I had known that they were a bunch of monkeys I would have done that. Not for the interest, what would that earn me? $50 a year? That still does'nt fix THERE mistake, and they are not owning up to it either. They dont care. All you have to do is research them via google. You will see. Look at there CEO and what he has done with his stocks. This company will be found guilty when the SEC is done with there Formal investigation of there company. They misinformed stock holders of the problems they were facing. The have robbed hundreds of thousands of people's 401k, including police officer's, firemen and there own employee's. There is no excuse for this, not one! Either way, I hope you were someone who actually helped people find the best loan that helped the borrower not the loan company. I hope you find another career and prosper in life.
