In my areas of interest, Graphics, Desktop Publishing and Planogram, the same jobs are constant being posted. CVS can not be trusted! I worked for them for 4 years as shift supervisor. When new manager came in he wanted to do NOTHING while taking CREDIT for all. Cursed his employees, lied, broke MANY company policies, emotionally attacked employees, made threats, So when I said I couldn't work in these conditions, with the hope of discussing these issues and finding a resolution. The new manager just said Good, meaning if I couldn't take the abuse then leave. So, I did. Filed for unemployment and was denied. Appealed it and denied yet again. They hide the truth. Their handbook, own rules mean NOTHING to them. Looking for a job with integrity---THIS IS NOT IT!!!!!!!! |

I have found that employers post jobs for a period, like a month or two weeks and at least in RI/MA area, they get so many replies that they sort them out at the end of that period & throw out what doesnt meet every qualification; even if they ask for salary range & you dont put it, they toss it. Another point is, for Sr.Administrative persons like myself, we are unfortunately a "dime-a-dozen" so we are up against hundreds of others when applying for jobs. It's a bummer. |

It's absolutely true, jobs are posted for possible openings in 2010. Don't waste your time as this company is on the decline in sales and being eaten up by Walgreens and especially Super Walmarts. |

CVS didn't have a problem with her, the manager who they hired did...and I've been in a position where the manager they brought in was a con artist and lied her way in, I tried to tell management she was a fake & they didn't want to listen because she was a manager & I wasn't. They finally did figure it out but she quit & I don't think they would have fired her. Also don't assume that you are a good employee because you made asst manager there are plenty of people who get promotions that don't deserve them |

How does CVS treat other pregnant managers? Any stories, good or bad? I have two monthes left on my maternity and they say that I must transfer to a lower volume store or get put on disability, because I have dr orders that I can only work 40 hours a week and not 60. Is this a regular request of a district manager? A store transfer doesn't seem like a reasonable accomodation. |

This company is a joke so don't waste your time and apply. additionally they do discriminate against race and age so if you're over 50 and not white, don't apply. I did and went to several interviews and it didn't go any further especially since I have great experience working in their environment. |

Hi, my name is Chris and I am currently employed in management with CVS. I would like to just let you know that many CVS stores do not post job opportunities only for the exact store. As you may or may not know, CVS has grown rapidly over the past few months, with hundreds of new stores in California alone. Now with over 6200 stores nationwide. With this being said, CVS has MANY job opportunities. Which is the reason for the always visible display sign of job opportunities available. And I promise you that CVS definitely does not have a problem filling jobs. |

I first want to congratulate you on your babies. Second I would like to inform you that MOST (I say that because not all are the same) stores do care about their employees health. When a doctor request for your subtraction of work I ensure that you will be helped. A transfer may not be the best result but it may be a great choice for you and your new family. However, there is no reason for you to have to get transfered to get disability. You are entitled to at least three months of paid maternity (As far as I know). You may want to contact your regional manager, as your district manager may not be as helpful. |

Hi John, My name is Chris and I am currently employed in management with CVS. I would just like to inform you that CVS is the number 1 store in sales and customer satisfaction among all drug stores. CVS stock is on a rise, not a fall, which means sales are great. My store alone has made over 6 billion dollars this years. Now times by the 6200 stores in America, No possible way for CVS to be failing. Statistics prove my claim. Also, CVS is not in the same market as Walmart. You cannot compare CVS with Walmart for that would be like comparing a peewee football team with USC. I ensure that CVS is and will be number one for a LONG time to come. |

I was recently fired from CVS. I was an assistant manager in an understaffed store. On my way out of the store to the bank one day a situation occurred and there was broken glass etc. everywhwere. As I was taking care of this I got cut (there was alot of blood) At some point during the fiasco, I set the deposit down. Long story short someone took advantage of the sitution and stole the deposit. They allowed me to continue to work for several weeks and then fired me for violation a policy( not sure which one ) They are now fighting my unemployment. As I sit here reding the policy handbook I see five violations made by my manager. Yet he still has his job. What happened to me that day was an accident, but I should not have been fired. They dont follow thier own policies unless its convienient for them. |

And I promise you that CVS definitely does not have a problem filling jobs. Hi Chris, you seem very helpful in this thread. I have just started working as a pharmacy technician at CVS. I've always liked and shopped at CVS, so I don't (nor do I foresee) myself having any complaints, but I have been trying to find out what the requirements are to transfer stores -- and I am referring to a move to another city. I think that there must be a time requirement for how long one has to work at a store, but I cannot find what that time frame is. the reason I'm asking is that I have been getting hints from my long-term boyfriend that he may be proposing soon, (right now we're about 200 miles apart), and if he does, then I would like to move back to his area (where i was living until a few months ago). BUT I would like to keep working for CVS, as I've heard very good things from employees and about promoting from within the company, and I like it myself so far :-) I hope I havent bombarded you to much, I've been stressing because I really want to stay with the company but I don't want people in my store to think I dont like working in this location or something. I would greatly appreciate your response, Thanks!!! Also, I'll add that I have a B.A. and I'm very interested in moving up within the company. - Jane |

Didn't you know that you could have contact HR and filed a complaint against the manager, if he was, in fact, doing something wrong? Why defame the company because of one bad seed? You are no better than he. Corporate America is not like the local park. You have to work hard in order to earn your living. That goes for any corporation. It seems that you just found a bad apple in the corporate barrel. |

Every CVS store is different and it all really depends on the type of manager you have. For the most part CVS is an easy job and the employees are great, almost like a family. They did take away upper-management raises so they could still give their employees a raise (it may not be much, but at lease we're getting something). We do really care about customers. As far as retail, the stuff CVS gives to customers is in no comparison to any other retail store I shop at. We accept other stores' coupons and take coupons if they're expired. If the customer calls and complains, they always get a twenty-five dollar gift card. Some negatives about the company I've seen so far: they're so busy trying to make themselves look good by donating all this money to charities like Easter Seals, they should consider giving their struggling employees some of that money. They just fired all Regional Category Specialists, so if you have a problem in photo or beauty you basically have to handle everything on your own or go to your district manager..not like they don't already deal with enough stuff that they're going to be worrying about your problems. Because hours were cut so much some CVS managers having their employees do them "favors" and finish things like price changes off the clock so it seems like they are accomplishing everything in their given hours, when they're really not. Customers are always right which sometimes might feel you leaving a little disrespected, like the time a customer told me she was going to slap me and the manager gave her a discount off her order. Haha You don't really get breaks. I've had definate pros and cons to CVS. There are a lot of politics and greed, but it is a big company and isn't that everywhere? Sometimes I want to leave, but the grass is always greener on the other side. The employees make you feel comfortable and when the same customers know you by name and come back again and again, it makes you feel good. |

I have worked for CVS on the east side Aurora for several years! It started out as a nice place to work but before long everything turned into hell! Management treats you like you are a nobody and a slave with no right or emotions! I never did figure out if was corporate encouraging their management to behave like slave drivers or if it is just my manager and the way the manager ran the store! After a while I was force out of my job because they pushed me to the point of an emotional breakdown! Management constantly mock you and laughs in you face to the simplest of questions/comments! That is why I finally walk out! My Manager and Asst. Manager basically went overboard with the mocking and laughing at me to my face in front of customers and other staff! I was done with the humiliation! Let’s just say CVS will be regretting what they did to me! I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU STAY AWAY FROM CVS AND CONCIDER LOOKING FOR OTHER PLACES TO WORK! IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL BE MISERABLE AND FEELING WORTHLESS! |

I worked for CVS for a long time and must say that the company is really going down hill. They are creating too many programs for their pharmacy staff to implement creating a lot of stress. Also their new pharmacy computer system rx connect is much slower. Management does not want to hear customer complaints and seek to remove those who do so. I know of a busy store in which a highly qualified tech was forced to go to front store because she was over weight and percieved by the dm to be slow. They also fired a pharmacist because triple s dropped..Glad I had opportunity to to to work for someone else. My advise stay away from CVS at all costs! |

I would strongly advise anyone who is interested in applying for a corporate position at CVS Caremark to not apply. I interviewed about a month and a half ago and I had to literally track down a recruiter in human resources to find out if I had gotten the position. After emailing the recruiter, I was advised that she received positive feedback from the hiring manager and that she would communicate further with that manager. I waited a week and a half, and I still never received a reply. Therefore, I, the applicant, had to track down the recruiter again. After waiting another week, I received an email that stated that she doesn't handle the applicants for the position to which I applied anymore. She then forwarded my email to another contractor recruiter, who only got back to me stating that I didn't get the job. He advised that I apply to a job that fits my skill set, even though I was fully qualified for the position. There were two positions open, and one person was hired internally. That sounds a bit suspicious. It does not make sense that I was fully qualified and received positive feedback, but then they decided to promote from within. The company is unprofessional and uncaring. They are the opposite of how they promote themselves. It is a total waste of a hardworking applicant's time and energy. I can't believe that they would lead somebody to believe that they had a chance of getting a job.
