I was with UTA for 5 years, and I decided to retire the end of December 31, 2006. I was told that I would be able to come back, if I so desired.

Well between 6 months and a year, I decided to come back, but I was suprised that I had to take an abilities test. There were alot that I passed, but one I failed on was where I had to get down on my knees, and get up without hanging on to something.

I failed that. It was pretty hard for me to get up because first of all, I am heavy set, and my knees aren't as good as they used to be.

Why did UTA all of a sudden decide to have this abilities test? They never had it when I started with them. There are going to be alot of people wanting to drive for UTA, but many of them are going to be turned down, because they won't be able to perform any of the abilities tests.

I realize they have their restrictions, but I think they went a little to far this time.

Please do not send this to UTA, because I do not know what will happen. I really wanted to get back with them because they have great benefits, and the workers there are good people

Dear Mr. Willner,

I as well had to pass an abilities test to be newly hired at a company. Due to the nature of the job responsibilities and task expectations, the test was justified.

Please, I want to assist you in any way that I possibly can to understand the need for these tests at UTA...what support is needed to help you re-establish your employment with them? Please advise.

Sincerely, DDH

I want very much to go back to UTA, and the only thing that is stopping me from being hired is just being able to get off of my knees without holding on to anything. I am not as young as I used to be and my knees are the same way. I would give anything if I could get employed with UTA without doing the knee thing. But I understand that it is something that has to be done

Dear Mr. Willner,

At this point, it's a matter of exceptance that the abilities test is here to stay as employer's insurance that a person can do the job they are applying. Perhaps, there is another position for which you may apply.
Check it out, ok...
